Getting your iMac Pro repaired is even harder than expected...
Update video - • Apple Replaced My iMac...
Apple's new iMac Pro is a $5,000+ machine but many users are reporting that Apple Support isn't servicing them-even under warranty. They repaired ours, but the Genius Bar destroyed it in the process. What a disaster!

    An Apple update killed by Ipod 3 (2008), and they blamed me. It was on the charger plugged in, when I was away, my mom was at home, when I got back the phone kept thinking it was December 21, 1971, and was deleting information, and suddenly died - bricked. Apple said it was our fault, and to just buy a new one. This was a new ipod that still had a warranty.

    Those people have been wrong for ages. This just adds another way in which they are wrong. Apple products have bad to mediocre hardware specs. Bad customer service. Expensive software. No personalization. Don't let you moderate your own computer properly. Yada yada The only things they're 'good' at is having hardware that's been cherry picked. Not because it benefits the consumer in terms of performance, but because they have to cherry pick it to accommodate for their awful design decisions that only allow for sub par cooling solutions. The OS is also pretty well made on an efficiency and stability level. But these things make it an amazing computer for day to day office work, which really isn't worth the price.

  • @askme8592

    @askme8592

    6 жыл бұрын

    Just bs pic fanboys say to feel better about themselves. Anyone that actually knows about their hardware knows it's higher priced than the equivalent pic, but with "some" products, the ability to walk into a store at any time (when open) for support make it worth the price. And no I'm not a huge Apple fan either. Mostly vintage stuff, but what pc fanboys say now was said back then, and apple owners knew the hardware wasn't perfect, just like ANY pc made. Zero computer have been made that are perfect like you think. Tbh I've had more major issues with pc based computers than Apple machines. But hey, when idiots pretend they know hardware they've never owned and just repeat others opinions because they can't think for themselves, the rest of the tech world has to deal with whiney children like you.

  • @jayjaygolden5123

    @jayjaygolden5123

    6 жыл бұрын

    Ask Me pic? Do you mean pc? If you do; theres a difference between paying more than it cost to make it, and paying more for a product that gets outperformed by cheaper products in most if not all departments. 300 dollar pc vs 400 dollar console, the pc will outperform the console in pretty much everything. 800 dollar homebuilt pc vs 1500 dollar imac pc and youll see the homebuilt beats it every time. Not only does it run faster and is way more durable, you can also repair it yourself if you ever need to. Edit: its not about being perfect, or opinions. Its about hard facts shown by benchmarks and based on physics, the way hardware works and build quality. The only redeeming thing about apple products is that the iOS is very efficient But that doesnt make up for its lack of user control and bad usability. Also, you can walk into most if not all tech repair stores with a pc. Even some normal tech stores like mediamarkt

    Yeah, that's the kind of computer the iMac Pro is. It's not a gaming rig for the regular consumer. However, the kind of machine you linked will not run "30 times faster" than the iMac Pro. Among other things, it depends on the graphics card, and what type of work you're doing on it. You also have to find a comparable 5K screen, which is quite hard. Apple screens are notoriously high quality. Also, the video shows the game V-Synced to the screen's refresh rate.

    Hello. I’m just blown away. I have an iMac Pro myself and while I love it and while it’s a heck of a machine, I completely agree with you that the vesa mount is a horrible design. I’ve had my iMac Pro on an arm for about a year now. Today I was rearranging some things on my desk to eliminate hardware and free up space so that I can put the OEM stand back on. During this process, once I got the vesa adapter off and started to put the stand back on, the screws just flat out broke once I put the card in, heard the latch click, started to lift up the stand to its original position (even though it was moving smoothly), and “snap” goes all the screws. I now have an unusable computer until I can find a place that sells those exact screws. Yes I was being careful and going slowly, but even though I did everything exactly right, it’s still a horrible design. I’m gonna see what apple says, now that I can text back and forth with them. Pls let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions about how I can obtain a whole bunch of those screws just in case this keeps happening. I’m sorry that happened to you. I didn’t have any damage to the stand, but the iMac Pro is nicked in the same places where you showed in the video. Unbelievable 🙄

Imac pro has a 60hz refresh rate which means that the screen can only refresh 60 times per second. Frame cap is the amount of frames per second it's locked at. So even if you have 144hz it can still be locked at 60hz.

When apple would release a new product, we would only find out about the item THE DAY it was released, no training or anything prior. So if you buy anything new from apple, never expect phone reps, or call centre reps to be able to help you for a few weeks. Release days were the worst, sooo busy and no one knows ANYTHING.

The issues are: not being able to upgrade and even do simple maintenance like getting rid of dust, which surely will have a noticeable impact on the life expectancy. (plus poor performance because of thermal issues) Apple nowadays is really garbage.

    Having worked for Apple as a Genius since the inception of Apple Retail in 2001, I saw the degradation of the quality of technicians they were hiring as Geniuses. I left Apple in 2009 and I’m sure the quality has gotten much worse. Apple started hiring people who were good with people, not good with technology. Basically they want people who can bullshit customers off a ledge but don’t care that they can’t fix anything.

He was honest and said he broke it. Our store manager replaced it with a 2008 17 inch macbook pro at no charge. This is not bullshit....i took the newl Mac to the guy from the back.This was when you could feel safe buying an Apple Mac. Today Apple is cheap shit. Their service is terrible. David J, as a Genius from 2001 to 2009 I largely agree. At that time we Geniuses had actual powers in the store. When we saw the same client 3 or 4 times with repeat issues, I had the authority to authorize a CRU. (Customer Replacement Unit) The newer Geniuses can’t do that. Sadly I saw too many managers reward horrible behavior but deny a customer that made an honest mistake.

    I seem to remember from a Linus video that the cost of the hardware is not far off if you bought the components yourself and put it together. I would rather do that tho, and have COMPLETE control of my computer, know how it works, fix it easily when something goes wrong etc. But what apple does, is to put state of the art hardware basically into laptop cases. This is so wrong in so many ways when it comes to reliability and stability. I own a high end music studio computer that I built myself (well, it was top of the line when I bought the components some years ago). The power that computer eats have me put the computer in a sound insulated cabinet with large silent fans. That wasn't enough, so I had to put the computer outside the studio area and run cables into the mixing room. It is relatively noisy, but does it break down? Not ONE single time have I had to made repairs on it. Every component inside it was chosen to specifically work with my audio hardware and software, and it runs on full power - ALL the time because it needs to. If I was using that closed in shit - it would throttle on me faster than I could open the project files and start working.

My macbook pro (the first retina model) hinge was loose and i saw similar issue in almost all the apple forums. Also the macbook once won't turn on and a apple icare said it was liquid damage (i have never spilled anything on that $2500 thing, it was like the most expensive thing i had back then) and that motherboard and ssd needed replacement which would cost about $1000 so i gave up. Then i gave to to a trusted local repair guy he resoldered the mobo and i bought an adapter for using a 3rd party ssd like Samsung 850 evo msata drive which turned out fixing the macbook for under $100 (which is the cost of ssd) and the repair guy just told me to give $10 because he didn't do much. OMG! (That 2 years ago or something...it's my bro daily driver lap...still no prob)
