@@whitenoisereacts please film your reaction to the sequel, then the third one (senior year), then Holy Musical B@tman, then Twisted (Jafar in Aladdin gets the Wicked treatment). The first Potter was a college production in Anne Arbor Michigan. (the local community could come too. It proved so popular they had to add extra performances.). It hit the net and exploded. The creators were invited to a Potter convention so they decided to do a sequel there.

Oh god, I’ve been a Starkid fan for ten years now and I’ve gotta say it’s such a delight to see people discover them for the first time. Whether you react to the rest of their stuff here or just on your own I really can’t recommend all of their shows enough. This, the sequel, and MAMD are so enjoyably low budget and everything that comes after jumps in quality but keeps the awesome charm and hilarity of their original shows. And just like with Harry Potter there’s such a huge and warm community around Starkid. There’s something so magical about this group of old college friends who come together every so often to do a new show. Anyway, to make a long comment short, I just really hope you’ll let yourselves take a deep dive down the Starkid rabbit hole because I guarantee it’ll be totally awesome. 🤙🏻

I highly recommend watching Twisted, an absolutely incredible parody of Aladdin and Wicked. The guy who plays Dumbledore is playing the main character in that and he's amazing! My other two faves are definitely The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals and Trail to Oregon - both are very funny. The quality of their productions has been improving year by year and they have created a truly amazing online community. PS. Firebringer never really did it for me, the music is good enough, but the plot's fairly weak and the comedy falls flat often. Twisted is sooo amazing, but a bit too R rated for my liking. Trail to Oregon is hilarious, but the music isn't Starkid's best. HMB is way, way better than Batman v Superman, but it's probably one of the weaker musicals they've done. TGWDLM is incredible and has the best concept of all their musicals, but it somewhat lacks substance and the music is slightly disappointing in parts. I think Black Friday is probably the best show they've done since AVPM. The comedy is hilarious, the music is epic, the acting is near perfect, and it expands on the Hatchetfield saga in great ways.

So just incase you're wondering, the reason Draco rolls around the floor is because apparantly it was supposed to be his thing that he tries to strike a pose and strut around to look extravagant, but failing to do so he'd end up rolling around the floor. The idea to include this came when the actress (Lauren Lopez) tried to strike a pose or something, slipped and ended up doing a roll and playing it off, the production team thought it was funny so they decided to keep it in as a staple of Draco's character. By the way, it was performed in 2009. Proving popular, multiple performances occured. The sequel was performed multiple times in 2010. The threequel was performed in 2012, but only once due to the limited availability of all the actors, the short time the musical was produced in and the extraordinary circumstances surrounding it.

Also, Darren Criss original wrote Granger Danger as a joke and the rest of the show was developed from that. They didn't expect it to get so popular, they uploaded it so that the cast would all be able to access it and it became a hit so they continued to upload their shows. The name of their company "Starkid" is what Malfoy calls harry and I think that's how they got their name, but I'm not sure... You should definitely react to the sequel and then react to some of their other shows. They have such a talented group!

Darren Criss (harry potter) wrote the music for this and it was made by two of his friends who wrote and directed it. They're still making amazing shows....so funny and I'd totally be down if you guys watched all of them! "Twisted" may be my favorite besides this! Also Darren went on to star in Glee after AVPM! This is the first show Starkid did. They were a group of friends at the University of Michigan who did shows like this all the time and they just decided to film this one and put it on youtube cuz it was cheaper than making dvds and then it went viral. So they decided to make a company out of it (they chose "Starkid" because draco calls harry "Starkid potter" in one scene) and they've since made 11 more shows (two of which are sequels to this one), 2 tours, and so much more. They also got a cease and desist from Warner Bros so they cut out some of the more inappropriate scenes and changed the name from "harry potter the musical" to "a very potter musical" So yea they kind of became a company by accident but they're talent is off the charts! So fun watching your reactions ❤️

The group were fans of Harry Potter and High School Musical and put the two together. They filmed their last show for fun bc it was a huge hit as seen by the people literally sitting on the floor to watch it and by how they know when some parts and characters are coming up. After this went viral they started the group and company Starkid.

A Very Potter Musical is probably one of the best examples of the Harry Potter fanbase. They're having fun with the source material while at the same time putting a ton of thought and effort into it. You're right, these songs did not need to be originals, they could have been knockoffs. They could have just copied the plot with songs to it and people would have been impressed. They could have copied lines from the movies all the live long day and quoted catch phrases (yes there are dated references, but I'll give them a pass, they work them in pretty well). They didn't need to do any of this, but this team decided to throw in 110% with a shoestring budget
