@@RiverBecca same! i think it is an unpopular opinion too but i'm glad to see i'm not alone. as someone who never watched a single harry potter movie (until last weekend), i could follow HPSY the most because i could at least relate the jokes to the previous 2 musicals rather than having to know about the movie lore. HPSY and MAMD are the 2 starkid works i watch the most but i think get watched the least among their fandom.

as hilarious and adorable as this show is, it's really hard for me to watch it without getting really emotional. it wasn't just starkid saying goodbye to the HP universe, it was them saying goodbye to darren, too, because he was on the very, very edge of his career zooming off. the final number where everybody onstage is crying? god, it kills me. it totally kills me. edit: also, darren's "fuck the tie" is one of the best moments in starkid history. totally improv'd because the tie and the cord really did get completely tangled up.

It was starkid's goodbye to everyone. There wasn't meant to be more. That was going to be the end. Then there were tours to say goodbye. They made twisted but it wasn't meant to be starkid which was why Joey wasn't in it.

@@nacho_girl Starkid wasn’t ending. This was just about the HP universe ending and pretty much Darren’s last show with them. The reason Joey wasn’t in Twisted is because he lived with Darren in LA and was doing auditions.

@@jordinagel1184AVPSY was originally meant to be the finale of Starkid, but then Matt and Nick Lang decided to keep going with things with Twisted, however I believe on the kickstarter page it was accidentally listed as a Starkid Production, and since it succeeded and it was clear the fans wanted more, they pushed on

Gilderoy's Mouse King monologue is my absolute favorite. It never fails to have me laughing, it's just so chaotic. He's also played by AJ, who wrote the music for AVPM, Senior Year, and Twisted. Along with some others.

Yeah Darren’s mic was messed up the whole time lol. Still managed to put on a great show despite everything! I just started watching so I will probably have more to comment soon haha. Also the reason it’s a big cast is it’s everyone ever in a Starkid musical (minus the original Hermione and Vanessa from MAMD) up until this point. It was the original reunion!

Okay the entirety of the song “Gilderoy” is making fun of Darren being cast in Glee and it’s still the funniest damn thing. “Acting rather queer” as in gay. The whole not remembering years 3-6 is also poking fun at him. I just found yalls channel tonight as I have a tradition to rewatch AVPM on my birthday every year and I’m glad I’ve watched all three of your reactions. I hope you do actually watch more of their musicals because they’re golden like this trilogy. Hope you’re both well 🥰 thanks for making the night leading into my birthday an awesome one.

I love the trollish humor of this series; having Harry be exactly like any kid with this kind of attention would be, calling out the time turner for it's convenience, the first half of the dealthly hallows, and this entire last musical which is basically the cast slapping the audience in the face saying "Get on with your lives!"

i'm sad the starkid journey is over, but i really enjoyed your reactions! fun fact since this is your last sk musical: the show was originally about five hours long but they cut a lot of it out. now if you add the times of all three shows, it would be 9¾ hours long, which is a pretty cool detail! :)

I adore the implication that these three shows are what really happened, while the books are just a bastardized commercialization of it. And in light of JK Rowling showing herself to be such a horrible person in the last couple years, it's all the sweeter.

I mean, I don't know if I'd say she's a horrible person overall... I think some of her thoughts on the trans issues are somewhat misguided, but her issues seem to come from a place of being concerned for other potentially vulnerable people (she seems to be concerned for the trans people themselves too, in some ways), not just out of spite against trans people as such... It's a complicated issue... I'm not sure I agree with her on all other issues either... But yeah, it seems to me that it's more that she accidentally causes harm than deliberately and if we were truly to accept everything that trans activists want, we'll end up with believing sexuality conversion therapy can actually work, that it's ok for women and girls to randomly be exposed to what are essentially male bodies (including their genitals) in places usually put aside for women to not to have to deal with it (I mean I don't necessarily think people should be so prudish and a bunch of places have cubicles etc... But at the same time, I can understand why many women could feel exposed and vulnerable... And I don't know, while I believe some kids might know what they want at an early age and it'd probably help them more to be treated early, many kids are very impressionable, we're normally still working ourselves out even into adulthood and there's a lot of potential irreversible harm that could be done by the treatment, so I don't know... I doubt it's as bad as some say, but it does seem to be trending towards that, which I think could be very concerning if it gets too much momentum... I don't know if Rowling is a good person, but I'm also not sure I'd say she was horrible... Though I think a woman she stood up for sounded like a real jerk... I dunno... For me, intent is important and I haven't seen bad intent from her as such... Maybe that's just because I haven't followed her closely enough though.

38:55 i will never get over that transition! the cue for aj to get up is perfectly timed to allow him traverse the whole length of the stage to make his exit without it feeling rushed. and the moment where he stops playing and whatever clark and the rest of the band do to fill it in so that it doesn't sound like one of the keyboards dropped out is seamless. not to mention aj having to do all that while not just acting as the character, but singing in character too. it's just brilliant imho.

I wish we could get you to watch Holy Musical B@man by Starkid! It's such a great musical! You get to see Joe Walker who played voldemort here as the main character!

i hope they eventually do all the starkid musicals. a lot to watch, but they did watch all 8 harry potter movies so...

I remember when this was first announced and many like me thought is was just going to be a table read of a script they had wrote for comic con; and when this came out it blew my mind. Starkid is about it's fans, they didn't have to go this hard and they did because of their dedication and love for what they do. Been a fan since '09 and will be for many, many years. Glad that I got to watch you guys love their craft too. ♥

If yoy end up doing more Starkid eventually, Holy Musical B@tman and Starship are amazing. If not, you should watch Wicked

Watching the glorious rivalry between Malfoy and Ron over Hermione and I just wanted to throw out there for those who don't know that Joey Richter (Ron) and Lauren Lopez (Draco) were dating at the time this show was being filmed, and are currently engaged.

So cool for you to watch this whole series! Darren supposedly had even less time than the majority of the cast and was told it was just going to be a table reading until a day before or less. Love your reactions!

You guys should also watch Legally blonde the musical, it’s *chef kiss* amazing

Honestly i had forgotten how chilling the going back to hogwarts reprise was

Darren's microphone malfunctioned, so all of Harry's lines use the audio picked up by the camera with a very distracting quality difference.

Also, Darren Criss had almost no time to prepare 😅 he was in the middle of filming Glee, so he arrived at 4am the day of the performance and only had that time to practice 😂

I have a major soft spot for Starship. It’s a shame this is the last SK reaction, but it was a fun.

I'm so sad you did not do the firebringer musical, it's by far my favorite of theirs. Mostly because Joe who did Voldemort gets another weird maglomaniac role and also Lauren (Draco) gets a prime role and I love her. The whole musical is so starkid but kinda different as it's I think the only one written in part by females, not by men, as Meredith, who is the new Hermione here wrote firebringer. Also general musicals would def like if you did SIX or Hamilton, because both of them are such amazing and super different takes on moder history lesson adaptations kinda. (Music in both is amazing)

But they not knowing starkid like 3 months ago and now yelling everytime they see a character is such a mood!! 💕💕

You should watch The Solve It Squad by The Tin Can Bros. It has some of the Starkid actors in it (Lauren Lopez/Draco, Joey Richter/Ron and Brian Rosenthal/Qurriel/James Potter/Seamus). Btw it is like a Scooby Doo parody

Start watching "Gravity Falls" pleaaase! There are only 40 episodes in that animated series. It's not your average kids' show!

The phantom of the opera and sweeney todd are excellent musicals. Ramin Karimloo is the best version of the phantom in my opinion.

It doesn't because a musical is a narrative piece which tells one intertwined storyline throughout the piece, usually presented on stage or film. Inside, on the other hand, is a bunch of mostly unrelated musical sketches with common themes, put into one package. It's classified as a comedy special rather than a musical film.

I just finished seeing your reaction to this and your other starkid related videos and it’s been really fun getting to rewatch these musicals with you guys (though would have enjoyed seeing your reactions to starship which btw is very underrated & the puppets in the musical are INCREDIBLE). from going back, AVPSY might just be my favorite musical from the HP Starkid trilogies :’) I always loved the ending with Quirrell and Voldemort, I think it’s really sweet. will definitely be sticking around here and there!!

I said this on patreon, but you guys should watch the original recording of Into the Woods and the 2011 recording of Phantom of the Opera. Highly recommend stage recordings over the big budget movies for those two.

They did get recognized by Warner Bros though, albeit in a legally-threatening way. But they gave 'em the a-okay to repost without their "Harry Potter" trademark, so the name AVPM was born. As of the movie cast we know at least that both Tom Felton and Evanna Lynch watched AVPM. The latter also was Luna in this installment, so all of that gives a lot of credibility.

So sad this is the end of the starkid reactions, I have to drive to college each week and it's a 2 h drive so these videos were the perfect length lol
