This was incredibly fun to share with Mary. The church scene fight scene is one of a kind. In the original comic book Professor Arnold was the main villain and kidnapped actor Mark Hamill which is why they cast Mark Hamill as Arnold as a little Easter Egg in the movie

Fun fact about the original comic: Dr. Arnold was the main villain, and the people at the ski cabin had kidnapped the actual Mark Hamill; Samuel L Jackson's character was invented for the movie. Also, when the comic's writer, Mark Millar, combined his comics into a shared universe, the main character was renamed to Eggsy's name and restyled to look like him

The scene with the princess is one of my favorites, not for that reason, but because it shows how different this movie is compared to other action/spy movies. In most of these movies if there is a love interest she would end up being someone who was there at the beginning or part way of the hero's journey, in this case under normal circumstances it would have been Roxy. Even the interaction with the princess is something you'll find in many movies, the hero saving a random damsel in distress who wants to personally thank him for his deeds, usually the hero would just go on about his day or even if he tried to cash in would in some way be blocked and the scene would fade into the next. While watching this play out I wasn't surprised by the princess's offer, I wasn't surprised when Eggsy went to cash in on the offer, and wasn't surprised when the door was locked, again normally there would be some complicated reason for the door not opening and that it might take hours to reboot the system or something like that, but I was completely surprised to see it all played out, except in James Bond movies where he hooks up with just about every girl, the hero always gets paired up with a woman whose been part of the story and not some random girl. Also yes please continue with the second which follows Eggsy and then the prequel where it all began.

Regarding the Vermouth joke, it’s become fashionable among people who want to sound sophisticated, but don’t actually know what they’re doing, to order a dry martini by coming up with a cute way of telling the bartender to hold the vermouth. This doesn’t really make sense, though, because unless you order it dirty, a martini only has 2 ingredients: gin or vodka and vermouth. Without vermouth, it’s just a shot of gin in a martini glass, not a martini

The Martini order is famously how Winston Churchill would order his martinis and is almost exactly the opposite of how James Bond orders his. James Bond gets a vodka martini shaken not stirred with a twist of lemon peel. A martini is dry vermouth, gin or vodka, And either a lemon peel, twist or an olive. A lot of people give reasons for why James Bond gets it shaken not stirred which is his catchphrase but the complaint is it either damages the flavors or adds too much water and air to the mix actually watering it down. So Eggsy orders a stirred gin Martini to keep showing that it's not that kind of movie.

This is one of my favourite spy movies. I watched this on my 23rd birthday in 2015. The sequel was good. Also, this was when I crushed on Taron Egerton.

Hello Mary!😊 The next film "Kingman The Golden Circle" (2017) is a lot of fun, too. Colin Firth became very popular for his part of Harry Hart after this film came out. Sofia Boutella has experience as a gymnast and a classical dancer, which allows her to move so well. Valentine vomited at the end after being stabbed because he can't stand the site of blood.😉 Great job reacting to this James Bond like spy thriller, Mary!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

In a way it is a Homage to the James Bond movies. There is a dialogue in which Colin Firth and Samuel Jackson that the current spy movies are to serious and Colin Says give me a farfetched plot anytime. That is what a spy movie should be about.

Shooting the dog was actually a very important test. As a spy they might be expected to go under cover and join a dangerous group. They could be undercover for years getting close to and becoming friends with the leader. Then one day they are ordered to kill the leader who is now their friend. Will they do their duty to the mission, or will they choose the side of their friend and betray the spy organization. This was in movies like Fast and the Furious where he had to get close to Dom to find out who was raiding the semi trucks. Or in XXX (Vin Diesel) where he had to join the Russian crime group to find out what they were up to.

Probably in my top 10 movies. Action is top notch, its funny, cool, with it's own flair on spy movies. I'll take it over most Bond, Bourne, or MI movies. All the tests were intense and totally got me.

Skydiving is one of the ultimate legal adrenaline rushes you could ever have. Jumping out of a plane at 15,000 feet and free falling at around 125 mph until you pull the chord at 5000 ft. When your parachute opens it's just you with an incredible view that lasts for miles. It's so peaceful and calming. As for the movie, you kept wanting them to pull the chord but they would have been pulling it to early. Most of them failed because they pulled too early and got seen on radar.

In 1968, I got to catch a ride from Teague, S. Korea to Tokyo, Japan on a corp./private jet. I had been sent from S. Viet. to S. Korea as part of Operation Combat Fox, a classified operation in response to the hijacking of the USS pueblo by N. Korea. When ordered back to S. Viet. I had to obtain my own transportation via orders. I was told to go to a small shack at the end of the runway. On the frt. of the shack was a small sign, "Air America". A movie with Robert Downey, Jr. & Mel Gibson was made named "Air America" (1990). Air America is a legitimate airlines owned & run by the CIA to gain access to foreign countries, etc. After a very short stay at the Tokyo Hilton (ran out of $$$), I caught another ride on a C-141 transport from Tokyo to Phu Kat followed by a smaller transport from Phu Kat to Cam Ranh Bay. 6 mos. later, I made the 1st of my 3 trips to Sydney, Australia. It was a very busy year.
