Empress of Jazz.... Period. She grabs your heart strings and pilots you where she likes and leaves you feeling like you had a euphoric experience. She is the standard in class today and I feel the best vocalist on any stage today.

This is a masterpiece, Angelina Jordan Astar my favorite singer of all time regardless of age she’s my number one singer on my top 10 she sing me to sleep and she wakes me up in the morning. I’m 79 now.

To begin with, anyone who could begin singing adult songs by the age of 1-1/2 , has to be operating on a genius level. Her grandmother was reciting her own poetry on a program called 'Radio Iran' when she was 4 and has always loved jazz singing as she was raised in Iran. Knowing from personal knowledge that specially gifted kids, like she herself was, are able to absorb and actually perform lyrical enunciation (as in poetry or singing) very early in life. It was she who came to quickly realize that her baby granddaughter could compartmentalize various lyrics and tunes with an ability to bring them out vocally. When you add to the fact that Angelina is also a 'vocal chameleon', able to emulate the exact vocals of numerous A-List singers, which she first displayed to the public at 7 when she performed Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' in the Norway's Got Talent Competition. Young Angelina was especially tuning in to Billie Holiday's form of singing jazz and that is where she learned the 'breathy', 'whisper-like' inflections Billie made famous in jazz singing. She is also able to emulate the 'slurring' of words and mid-sentence 'key' changes that Amy Winehouse used. Billie and Amy are the two most unique jazz singers of all time and when you add Angelina's personal ability and sounds to the songs she does, it's as if your hearing a myriad of other artists integrated into her songs. Adele in not a jazz singer, nor is Whitney, but Angelina can emulate them as well. Have never heard another singer who could present such an intricate, complex combination of vocals in a single song. She is the most versatile singer of different genre singing that this planet has ever produced.

And if I can allow myself to be REALLY greedy, I would have loved to see her make a double reaction to both her renditions of the song at 10 and 16 years old. Angelina loved Whitney. Her first video of her singing is a few lines of "I Will Always Love You" when she was 18 months old. She also sang it when she was 11 years old, and to me, it felt like a blending of Dolly's and Whitney's versions.

Excellent point! I also heard it as an exquisite blending of the original from Dolly Parton's original and the later cover by Whitney Houston, while still working in unique AJ touches. A masterpiece.

As a fan of Angelina l say bravo to you. Angels (Angelina's fans) really recognize someone who gets her. You have quickly and intuitively seen many of her remarkable attributes. This song is particularly meaningful to Angelina. There is a shocking little video snippet of Angelina in her crib at one and a half (yes, that's right) with a little microphone singing a line from this very song. We say that Angelina does not cover songs. She uncovers them, digging deep and presenting the emotional core by emphasizing lyrical meaning. When you hear her reasons for picking songs, you will quickly see she connects with music at a visceral and elemental level. She is simply astonishing.

She changed the key to this song, but does it really matter as long as she has the ability to give each word, or phrase, meaning like no one else in this universe can. How can she evoke such emotion in each and every performance? Why do I get chills, or cry tears, or lose my breath when Angelina sing a song that I have experienced many times in the past without this happening? If this feeling only happened to me that would be ok, but it happens to billions of people. We play these videos of AJ over, and over again to get our high. I was a Whitney fan from the beginning of her career to her tragic end. Whitney was great, but Angelina at 16 is far better than Whitney ever was at making you feel each word, and phrase. Recorded June~July 2022 age 16&1/2. Whitney was 29 in a studio and David Foster stated they have numerous takes to get it right. In live performances WH normally sang this in a lower key, but every time it was beautiful. Her passing was a huge loss to the music industry.

ron I believe this was recorded after she returned from her Norway concerts. So that would have made it the end of July.

Her gown is actually baby blue! Its the same one she wore at the outdoor concert in Norway this Summer. A must see!

Fabulous reaction as always to our barefoot princess ! Angelina has sung this cover of Whitney's sing many times ! Her live version just last year from Norway was fantastic ! She sounded even better than the studio version because she is a natural stage performer and can deliver so effortlessly and passionately on stage ! She has been singing live for ten years now and she is a seasoned veteran who sounds like a 30 year old not 17 ! I would strongly suggest and think it would be fun to see her perform at her first studio recording when she was just 6 years old ! This is even more mind blowing than "I Put a Spell in You " ! As you continue to listen to Angelina (please?!?) you'll discover that this young woman has the remarkable ability to not just sing the notes of a song, she sings the emotions of the song. Sooner or later, you're going to hear her sing and sit with tears running down your face as she reaches out and touches something deep inside you. This song is a good one to see exactly how she has matured. She recorded a version of this same song in her home studio when she was 12. It was good, but you can definitely see how a few years have allowed her voice to strengthen and mature. Oh, and the dress is blue. Angelina is famous for her massive head of hair, it has been wild like this since she was a toddler. I think that Angelina has given up with trying to tame it and just lets it be. Her voice continues to mature if that is possible. A.J. has been a fan of Whitney since she was very young and continues to admire her as she grows up. This is probably a contentious view, but I believe that Angelina will surpass Whitney as an artist because she writes her own lyrics and music, which Whitney never did. Just my own thoughts. Great reaction! In your spare time you should listen to the live version of this which she performed in Norway last summer. In that performance it was televised. There were technical issues with the first take so they asked her to perform it again, less then two minutes later. It was breathtaking! She wears the same dress as this video.
