I was first to play this album at the radio station. Played the whole album but the first thing that HOOKED ME FOR LIFE was “I’m in this dumb hotel, near the Taco Bell, without a hope in hell, I can’t believe that I’m still around”. What awesome lyrics!!!!

Two of the most perfect songs by anyone.

"School" is my favorite. But, all they're songs are great. I love them. They are special. 💙🎵🎶🎶🎶

One of the best intros of a Supertramp album. Roger and Rick kill it again on 2 kind of moods, as the three others. Lord is it mine is so poignant and touching. This album is so coherent and has only huge and awesome songs. Perfection from A to Z. Contains my favorite song from Supertramp, Child of vision, the sum up of Supertramp in a single beautiful and powerful song. The sound of the 70s.

“Oh Lord” is another one that hooked me forever with the lyrics” There must be a thousand voices trying to get through” (as he’s praying with no response). Every note, very phrase, every breath of every song, has had me since FIRST LISTEN!

Nice reaction Brandon. I remember all those years ago feeling and experiencing all the emotions your feeling and its good to see they still have that affect on all that can listen, because its forever music

Breakfast in America is my favorite Supertamp album. It has very good songs, my favorite is Take The Long Way Home.

...another magical double by Supertramp... funny enough: I used to downplay that album a bit (compared with 'Crime', 'Crisis' and 'Even') probably because of its success being for my taste over-blown, when compared with those other master pieces, but hey - its really brilliant! Thanks Brandon, for reminding me of that! 🧡😎

I’ve read that originally GH’s ending had darker lyrics, but that producers convinced Rick to make it more upbeat.

Gone Hollywood is one of Rick Davies' stronger songs, musically fire(John Helliwell on sax, dead solid perfect per usual, Davies mixing jazz into the rock, a bit proggy too). Lyrically, Davies in his best/usual motif--expressing melancholy with a dose of bitterness/being cynical--ths time regarding the age old question--is success worth it? Best choice to lead off the album, gets you asking what's next Lord Is It Mine is another classic Roger Hodgson angst piece. IMHO, lyrically, it echoes The Logical Song. As RH always does, well crafted, a sparse arrangement highlighting the lyrics(it reminds me a bit of If Everyone Was Listening from Crime Of The Century) John Helliwell again dead solid perfect(almost sure it is soprano sax), Dougie Thomson quietly carrying the song on bass, Rick Davies showing he can play organ with the best of them. This reminds me I'm due for a full listen of BIA

I just never know what songs are going to strike me hard! Yes, Roger's voice is uniquely and perfectly beautiful to me, especially in a song like "Lord". Can't wait to discover his solo albums. Thanks Graham...

Greatest Supertramp, these songs a bit less visited but as good to listen than the too much heard hits, such a variety and richness ! "Gone Hollywood" is more progressive featuring Rick's talent, "Lord is it mine" a beautiful ballad, more about Roger, Hammond organ very nicely played probably by Rick Davies also, John and his saxophone (for sure) in the middle, also a great bass melody by Dougie Thompson, right! Supertramp at their peak together. It makes me feel how the time and life as past from 1980.
