This song actually saved my life. And that was way back in 1982. I was contemplating ending my life because I thought that I was a failure. But I sat down on my front porch one night and sang Lord Is It Mine to myself and cried like a baby. It made me so sad, yet the song inspired me to keep going in life. And soon after, everything changed for the better. Oh. I am 65 now and have lived a wonderful life.

Silas, my boy, not all rock and roll is "rock". Sometimes you have to just set back and "roll" with the music and let it take you where it wants. Pink Floyd is a good example of this. For us old folks, rock and roll is us reliving our youth through the music we grew up on. It is such a pleasure watching these "reaction" videos and feeling that feeling with someone new. Most of us would sit around in our "group" of friends and discover all this music together, but I don't see those friends anymore. Thanks for helping us old people to briefly flash back to a great time in our lives. Now on to 10k and beyond Son. 😎

I turn'd m' Gran'son into a Rock n' Roller. I used to drive him to school, and he listened to my cassettes. He's now 32 and still buys old albums of rock at flea markets. I can depend on the music I'll hear when at his place. ...and Thanx for your chosen profession.

And this track is just one step of the journey this album takes you on. Existential loneliness and alienation (possibly even gaslighting) that is essential to waking up and seeing how you are a pawn in someone else’s game, then spreading that awareness to others.

This song has always been an emotional song for me as well , But to watch your reaction literally made me tear up ! I could visibly see you feel this song ! And that's a Good thing , It's Awesome actually ! Supertramp's music has a way of speaking to you ! You don't listen to Supertramp ,You feel Supertramp !

Take The Long Way Home really takes me back to Sophomore year of High school. My friend Matt had his car, the only one of us three friends (Howie was the 3rd friend) with wheels. This tape played constantly in his car. We took many rides then and the lyrics are imbedded in my brain, forever. The line, " So you feel that your life has become a catastrophe. Well it has to be for you to grow, boy" had so much meaning to a 15 year old guy. Matt passed in 2012, and Howie lives in Colorado. I'm still living near the town we went to HS together. I miss those guys and those old days.

Supertramp is one of my favorite bands. I am mainly a metal guy, but this shit just vibes.

What a masterpiece this album is. Not a single wasted note, not a single musical or emotional button left un-pushed. Exquisite.

Take the Long Way Home is an absolute classic.

I found over the years some of these songs are lessons learned the hard way.

The power of music

this album was truly a breakthrough album for them. They had been fairly successful before but this was HUGE. Logical Song, Take the long way home and Goodbye Strange were EVERYWHERE summer of 79 i think it was. Whole album was played on rock radio. Silas imagine having new stuff like this come out almost every week? So much music was released back in the day. It was non stop. It's just not the same now.

The “Breakfast In America” album was released in March of 1979 and was a MASSIVE hit worldwide. I turned 13 that summer and I loved this album. My stepmother used to have an absolute fit whenever she heard Supertramp mentioned because that was her nickname (and it was well deserved).

This song 🎵 makes a lot of people cry or get emotional. " Lord is it mine. "

You would really enjoy their “ Crime of the Century” album too - even if you don’t react to it, please give it a listen. “School” is one of my top 3 songs ever.

Crime of the Century is one of the best albums I have ever listened to. I was lucky enought to see the Crime of the Century tour gig in my home town in the UK in November 1975. I still wonder in amazement at the quality of that concert... it blew my mind. Wonderful band. Roger as a solo artist live is fantastic too if you can get to see him.

Such a nostalgic feel to this song.

Great reaction, Silas! This CD is in my truck at all times. It is simply awesome. Yeah, I am the typical stoic, unemotional "man", too, but "Lord Is It Mine" really makes sure that you're actually alive. Brings a tear to my eye every time.

Child of vision will blow your mind, I'll tell you now!😇 I've known Supertramp since the 70's and I still find them fascinating.

Supertramp doesn't have the name recognition today that some of the other older bands like The Beatles, Stoned, Led, Queen or Pink Floyd have, but they deserve to be up there. Crime of the Century is one of the best albums ever made imo and they have lot's more. Such craftsmanship and a bucket load of absolute bangers of songs.

Just to say Silas how lucky you are and how envious we are that you are experiencing this newly undiscovered music (for you) for the first time from a decade (the 1970’s) that many consider to be the greatest decade of them all for the production of popular music.

Wow, I played this album all the time in high school, and of course Long Way Home is a huge hit and extremely catchy, but I had totally forgotten what a beautiful gem Lord Is It Mine is. Really poignant reaction, Silas. That's great. Maybe you could play it for Olivia? I like the idea of covering two songs at once when they are a bit shorter like that.

Take the Long Way Home was an instant classic and is one of their most enduring songs. It's about YOU and ME singing along to the songs on the radio as we take that long drive home .

Roger's songs are magical and he sings like an angel. He's still performing it to this day & he's 74 now.

I first heard this song back in 1979 I was in Marine Corps Boot Camp, isolated from the outside world getting some dental work on base and the dentist had his radio on and this song was playing. Kind of fitting for an Indiana boy wanting to take the long way home back to the Indiana. By the way I love your enthusiasm for this classic rock Tim Pharis, 1979 USMC.

Take the Long Way Home is my favorite song of theirs. Definitely melancholic, yet a little hopeful at the same time. All great songs do both, IMO.

I am jealous. Always loved these guys. I am am mainly into metal, and play guitar. One day I was jamming with this guy, who is a literal musical genius (he is advanced in music theory, knows almost every band/artist/composer you can think of, and can deconstruct their sound and writing.), and I was playing this metal riff I wrote recently. He looked at me, and said "You are a fan of Supertramp, aren't you? I can hear it.", and he tried to explain it to me, but I still don't understand how he heard that from my riff.

BEST CONCERT EVER! Victoria BC, Canada back in the 80s. I was your age and only one of twelve people at the 10,000 seat arena. Band was unknown and we were expecting to see Ted Nugget but bought tickets anyway. *What Professionals* full concert performance like it was a sold-out show. For their encored - played a few songs from the unreleased *Breakfast in America* album. Quality (live) sound as great as their studio versions - no exaggeration! Again, the most Professional band to-date.

This was my music as a teen.. young adult❤❤❤love it❤❤enjoy

This is my favorite Supertramp song, but they have so many good ones it was a tough choice but this one gets the edge. so much talent in a group, great vocals, lyrics, storytelling and the music behind the songs. Great choice Silas.

Take the long way home makes me think of Northern Virginia to Fredericksburg everyday with evening commute, and I'm not even talking about Fridays, lol I got to say that it's nice to see a young fella like you realizing just how good classic rock is. Still so much you haven't heard. I'm a pretty hardcore guy. I was a FBI certified Hostage Negotiator, Emergency Communications Officer and EMT and I'm not ashamed to tell you this songs choked me up more than once, lol

You guys need to watch all these songs live, then you get to see what instruments they are playing. It will shock you just how many instruments and gadgets they use. I was lucky I grew up with Supertramp they're one of my favourite bands! Keep up the good work. I love seeing your faces when the band winds up, it's great!

That harp hit you hard. This song got me to learn the harmonica. I can't bend it like Rick, but for this song I can get close.

Hey Silas, I have been really enjoying your videos. Because you like these songs, I'd highly recommend Roger Hodgson's first also album from 1984, 'In The Eye Of The Storm', I think some of it will really hit home, it's a loose concept record about life in general. Roger, from Supertramp, seems to be the signer you like the most, so wanted to suggest it!

20 minutes before the NewYear hits... don't disappoint

The teens and young adults of today have been cheated out of the meaningful music of the 70’s and 80’s. It’s sad the music of today is meaningless. How do you relate and feel the meaning of the words and feel the soul of the rhythm and melodies of hip hop and rap? You don’t, you can’t. What’s sad is that it’s also the cause of so much crime and murder. Not just between those that get heavily into that music, but also the number of artists that have lost their lives. You didn’t see members of Journey, Rush, etc. getting killed every other week. It sends a bad message to kids. Maybe every now and then a good song comes around that has some meaning or have a melody you can lose yourself in but that’s rare.The 70’s and 80’s were a great time to grow up and be a young adult. We had great songs to relate to. They make you remember old times or people you shared good times with. We had some great bands, musicians,!that will always be in our memories and bring back the good times of those memories. We had Supertramp, Boston, Rush as well as good soft rock/romantic bands and bands/artists like Journey, Air Supply, Billy Ocean, Phil Collins, etc. Lucky to have lived through those times. It just doesn’t get any better than that! ❤️
