On our journey to the Balkans in the summer of 2021, we were accompanied by a group of filmmakers. They shot a documentary on that trip about how curiosity conquers fear, and how the gruesome past of the Yugoslav wars can be explored through abandoned sites. We have several appearances in that 60-minute-long film.

09:10 The street where I live was almost entirely demolished by German artillery in the 1st WW, and rebuilt later. The cellar still shows a decent sized hole (re-bricked, but still very visible) to the neighbours' cellar from either WW1 or WW2. If the building above collapsed or was set on fire, people could escape next door, or even further down the street.
My father and my grandmother and grandfather were residents of Vienna during WWII. I appreciate the chance to have a clearer picture of where they would have fled to during the bombing. During one bombing, their home took a direct hit. The only thing that my father found in the rubble was a scorched book of his. I visited Vienna with my father in the 70's and there were many times and places where he was very quiet. I can only imagine what memories he was experiencing after seeing this video.

This is shocking I’ve been living in Vienna my entire life and never heard of this 😶
Have you ever held a Geiger counter to the fluorescent paint in the air raid shelters? In the past, they liked to mix radioactive substances into the paint, so that the paint worked without prior illumination.
Berlin, Wien, London, Paris. I wonder how much history there still exists to explore. Undetected in the underworld

Yeah, I guess we'll do another trip to Vienna eventually! It's such a fascinating place.
That was absolutely brilliant. And incredibly unnerving considering how our current world events are at this moment. You guys did a great job documenting. Thank you so much. Cheers from California in hopes for a better world.💜🤗🇺🇸
Hello BWT! It is always such a pleasure to see you document historical relics of time under Vienna because it will eventually all be taken over by deterioration and decay. Nothing manmade lasts forever unfortunately. Danka!
Outstandingly well done. This was better than a guided tour! You guys are top notch !
This was fascinating and beautiful. Human ingenuity, and the will to survive is constant and inventive. I would have loved to have seen this hidden Vienna when I was visiting there. Thank you, as always for quality and education.🖤🇨🇦
Finally something about hidden underground life.. Where I am from, there is a bunch of underground structures: rivers, drainage systems, bunkers, metropolitan spaces.. Couldn't find anything on digger stuff in Vienna xD
It is amazing what lies beneath a city no one knows about and becoming time capsules from another life time. This was told so well and I enjoyed this video and like always looking forward to the next video and like this one a story or some history to be learned. Blessings and be safe. 😎
I always like that you guys are able to balance your curiosity and fear so that you don't get hurt. I lived my young years in the shadow of WWII, because of my father. There were mementos stored in the dresser drawers of our home and of course there was my father. He never spoke about the war. My mother would tell us his stories for him. It was very insightful to see how the rest of the world dealt with WWII. Last year, I learned from my brother that my father had spoken with one of his friends about what he did during the war. He was a trained bodyguard and medic for a very important person. His secrets have died with him. I can't access my father's military records, because they were destroyed by fire at a military archive.
You guys are awesome, I enjoy going on your journeys with you, I learn so much, thank you ❤

Thanks for joining our trips to these dark sites!
I do love your new intro, highlights some of your photography, tells us what’s up. “Vienna underground part 2} Here we go! This is awesome. How amazing to have a local guide who knew his way around, and could explain a lot of what he’d learned about this vast underground space. Loved! the corner of the basement with the 1672 date carved in it. Amazing. Aside from cobwebs and I suppose dust, the passages seem in good condition. I mean, WWII was nearly 80 years ago. These stone and concrete bunkers are holding up well. Except for the damp parts. Really cool exploration, with your usual high standard of filming. Great work guys!

Went to Vienna 1977 and had no idea that the bunkers were underneath our feet. Fascinating to see this and wonder what it would have been like to have to shelter there.
This was a wonderful video! Sad and scary at the same time! I can’t even begin to wonder how it felt for the people that escaped there. We should learn from the history of these places! In today’s world, you never know when something like these tunnels could be used. Hopefully, not from war, but also natural disasters! Thank you for this video!

I Love This
Sehr spannend!!! Bitte mehr davon, tolles Video.

Thank you for this excellent video! The very air in there seems filled with heaviness of the past! To think of how many such places exist beneath our feet, and the many generations who had to huddle in these spooky crammed passages, yet they were their means of safety and escape from horrors often beyond our imagination! My family lived through both World Wars in Europe, and even my generation was affected emotionally by what they went through! We should be so grateful that we are not living in the same tragic circumstances, rather than fighting nation against nation, always being suspicious of one another! Such a beautiful world and so much terrible drama. Thank God for every beautiful, safe day we are given and able to enjoy sunshine, flowers and so many other great things. May love and peace unite all people and species & let us get along in harmony, please! Many warm greetings to everyone!
