Secret nuclear bunker tour (abandoned NATO headquarters)

In the belly of a mountain, we found this secret NATO bunker - at an undisclosed location; hard to find, and even harder to enter. If the Cold War had gone hot, World War Three would have been fought from here. In weeks of isolation, this would have been the NATO headquarters for military operations in the Mediterranean world - safe from any nuclear, biological, or chemical attacks. Today, the danger is waiting inside. After years of decay, the tunnels became a contaminated labyrinth of mildew and asbestos, leaky pipes and old machinery.
In this adventure, we are walking kilometers in the dark. While breathing heavily in thin air we risk losing our orientation at any time. But in this exploration, there is no place for doubts. Join us venturing underground and unveiling a world most people would never have thought even existed. #urbex #abandonedplaces #bwturbex

In the disclaimer at the beginning, you missed out the most important one: ALWAYS TELL A RELIABLE, RESPONSIBLE PERSON EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE GOING AND WHAT TIME YOU ARE RETURNING, AGREE AT WHAT TIME THEY SHOULD RAISE AN ALARM. DON’T THEN GO SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT, AND DON’T FORGET TO TELL THE PERSON THAT YOU HAVE SAFELY RETURNED!

I did some research on this base in Italian media and it looks like it has been stripped of everything of value by thieves once the base was officially dismissed at the end of the 90s. Some even suggest that this was coordinated by someone who knew the base well, since it seemed like a professional job. Apparently at some point there was even an illegal doghouse in/near the turret you show in the video (I think), where they would raise rottweilers for either resale or illegal dog fights. It's a shame it is abandoned like this, I think it would make for a pretty cool museum about cold war, but I guess it would lose its charm as an abandoned place.

In my country, many bunkers which in coldwar were on the other side to this NATO bunker, were strip to the last piece of metal by so called "scrap metal thieves" - but do not imagine them being bunch of hillbillies with crappy handtools. Several ton heavy armored seal doors to abandoned nuclear weaponry storage magicaly dissapearing from 10 store under ground means professionals, heavy machinery, and officials looking away.

It was not actively protected - but neither was it "just left there". I understand guys like from this channel. I don't agree with approach of the thieves.

However, trying to order your calendar is a mission as you don't know if you've done it correctly... the window opens but you can't go back or get a confirmation... just a suggestion...
