Evolve responds to brake locking issue claims

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

For a couple of years now, reports have periodically popped up online of Evolve owners claiming their boards braked suddenly, and of their own accord, while riding at speed. Is this the result of a rare malfunction, user error, or some other design flaw? Having spoken with Evolve about this issue, Jack gives his thoughts.

Just back from the emergency department... 30+ kph to full lock up on a thankfully empty street on my commute home. Currently typing 1 handed. I love my board and commute daily on it, but I now have serious trust issues... I have skin missing on every limb and an extremely swollen but thankfully not broken forearm, phone is wrecked, destroyed jacket, jeans and shoes, and a head wound that thankfully was mostly absorbed by my helmet... I even read about this issue before buying the board, but just figured it would never happen to me. I've got 4 boards currently, one of which is an Evolve. None of the other boards has ever tried to kill me. I could understand a no-name brand selling cut-price boards having this issue, but it certainly seems like Evolve would rather not own this problem... I was lucky today - I was almost home and nowhere near traffic. Wonder what it will take before they front up to an issue that could seriously impact one of their customers lives... Wear safety gear, but also maybe shop around... $2k plus to play roulette is simply not good enough

How are you feeling now, 9 month after the lockup? I hope you will make a full recovery with time! My three day old GTR Bamboo AT did this to me. Full brake lockup, threw me of the board, badly brused and lost skinn on legg and arm. Why the board is able to do a full on lock up is so stupid and dangerous. If something is wrong and it applies the brakes it should only do so gently or just cut the power... I lost conficence now and dont know what to do. Ordered a new remote for 150 EUR and the protective sleeve. But man, dont know if I dare skating again... and the seller wont take back the board. Cost me 1799 EUR. But, I guess I should be thankful, still alive. Is there a full on safetysuit one could wear? In Sweden we have a bicycle helmet called Hövding, that you wear around your neck and shoulders. It works like an airbag of sorts for the head in case of a fall. Would be nice if there was something similar to wear around the waiste or back that protects most of the body in case one goes flying of the board... Best regards /Mack

Two months ago, I fell off my board at 34 km/h (21 mph). Fortunately, I only suffered from skin loss on my arm due to friction with the cement and no other damage to regret. My board was only two months old, and I have experience with skateboards. I was riding down the street very relaxed, enjoying the return trip (already having traveled about 6 km), when suddenly I released the accelerator to move forward with only inertia, and I realized that the board was still accelerating to the maximum. I looked at my remote control, pressed the brake, and it didn't respond. I pressed the accelerator again and then released it, but nothing changed. A few seconds later, I was on the ground because the board suddenly stopped. I contacted Evolve, sent the board to their technical service, and they found a loose terminal on the board (with little soldering) and broken parts inside the controller that could have been caused by the fall, as it has no other impacts (the controller only had minor superficial scratches). When I asked for a refund, they changed their story, blaming me for breaking the controller and not calibrating it. It has been a terrible experience with the brand in such a short time.

I'm a Hardcore Rider And GTX Lover! BUT!!!!! WARNING!! This product almost killed me yesterday, when my GTX Board slowed suddenly to less than 50% of the traveling speed, after an interference signal cut the connection to the handheld remote, and then told the board to apply resistance in the motor(s) to regenerate the battery that was fully charged! Newton's first law of motion took over, and I found myself flying forward without my board under my feet, at 20 mph!! I was on a flat paved road. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me, and I know I'm not alone on this issue. This is not the same issue as the Onewheel. This is a software, Bluetooth, motor, battery, and regenerative error! Someone is going to get killed. Someone can have my board! I'm done riding.

It actually happened to me yesterday on a bamboo GTR that is a month old. I am definitely not a new skateboarder but new to eskate. I was cruising along going about 20mph on a smooth open road enjoying my day hauling lunch back home. And no shit brakes. It even sounded like brakes. I was full throttle so I don't think I touched brake button. And was totally relaxed just craving away. After full on eating shit I went back to grab my board and it was dead stopped. Motors had a ton of resistance as I dragged off road. So now after everything is off motors still have some resistance and my remote will not connect. Although the remote not connecting could be due to me crashing onto it too. I have been super careful with remote and have done the calibration one time. The remote has been feeling great this whole time. So? Not sure WTH but my board is now dead. So could be motor control? No idea until Evolve gets back to me. I am super disappointed as this thing has been fun as hell. I think I have about 120 miles on it so far. I am totally hooked on skateboards but not sure i trust my board until I find out what is up. Luckily just road rash. But my shoulder is super jacked. It was before this anyway just now extra. I am far from thrilled.

Rob Norbutt same except no damage to anything. I got thrown off the board and the remote disconnected and the light on the button on the board was flashing. This was after a 4 mile ride and the board is six weeks old and new from evolve. The only variation is I braked very hard just prior to the accident to pull in for a car... The car passed and I took off again and not but a second later The brakes fully engaged and I was thrown off. Absolutely ridiculous if I’ve been on the main road I could’ve been thrown into oncoming traffic. It’s absolutely ridiculous that people are reporting this and it is not being addressed

My safety gear saved me from any serious injury. Shit it could have happened in a worse spot too, I count myself lucky. Until this, the board was insanely fun. Everytime like an endless wave. I would like to chime in. The Bamboo GT certainly is prone to interference. Bluetooth is simply not a robust enough protocol. After a crash from sudden braking lock that resulted in a torn rotator cuff…I lost all confidence in Evolve. Their response to my complaining to them of this was unreasonable…suggesting that I had improperly synced the board (when all indications were it had synced Properly, and as I always did I checked proper remote functionality before stepping on the board by holding the wheels off the ground and actuating the motors and brake). I can assure you the remote was not damaged and all components were functioning properly as I sent it in to Evolve for inspection and it passed all tests. The problem is more likely to be the Bluetooth chipset Evolve chose. This was a software and programming implementation error, connected to the implementation of a Remote Control hardware device usually reserved for lower-level consumer-based communication applications. They used this chip: Nordic Industries nRF24+ in this board. This chip does not employ a robust communications protocol and was NOT the safest and effective method for providing radio control of the skateboard at the time it was developed. There were safer standards that existed such as DSSS and FHSS hardware that are much more resistant to interference at the time this product was developed. There were reasonable alternative designs available to Evolve that they were either ignorant to or chose to ignore to save $5 or $10 dollars in production per board.

I found this to be a very interesting and level-headed analysis of the situation and it reflects my own experience. It's a shame that your mate Jamie didn't do the test on an uphill incline, cos I reckon that anyone is FAR more likely to be thrown when the throttle is suddenly cut while travelling uphill. This happened to me a year ago when I'd had my CGTR only a couple of months. I was travelling full speed on AT wheels along a straight, smooth tarmac track (an old railway track converted to a cycle track). I had been going flat out for about half a mile up a slight incline. It was very cold and I wasn't wearing gloves. At one point I decided to put my hands together to warm them cos they were going numb. Big mistake! It felt like the board came to a dead stop and I was instantly thrown and landed hard. I couldn't get up for 20 minutes! Since then I have a new rule - NEVER do anything else with the hand holding the remote other than control the board. So no quick adjustment to my glasses, no holding my phone, no checking my pockets, no scratching an itch on my nose(!) - NOTHING else but controlling the board via the remote. I've never had a problem since adopting this new mantra. And I still ADORE riding my CGTR!!!!

  • @GilbertTang

While the sudden braking might very well be the function of a damaged remote, the response is more indicative of a damaged perspective. I get it, it makes sense, and even if it's rider error it's clearly - as alluded to in the thoughts section of the video - a bad design to begin with. They've added needless complexity in what seems like an attempt to differentiate themselves. That's just dumb. This very problem was solved with RC cars decades ago and what Boosted came up with is just the evolution (how ironic) of that. In order to differentiate between throttling and braking, you need to cross the zero point on the same control (or channel, if you will). That's huge. Compare this to separating these functions and you've got a design that has way, way more opportunity for accidental or otherwise unintentional user input. And yes, riders can learn to do this properly and take preventative steps to minimize the chances of error. But why put them in that position in the first place, let alone on a device that speeds them along inches from the ground in excess of 25 miles per hour?

Owner here and can confirm at higher speeds the brake is mega sensitive but going sub 15mph it a smooth curve. No idea why but the only "safe" way to ride with this remote is keeping your brake finger well away from the trigger when accellerating and if you plan to brake take your index finger off the accell trigger completely like a pistol. I'm about 100 miles in on this board and so far so good.

Typically evolve just blaming users for their own product issues. Their boards are nearly $2000 this is unacceptable for such an expensive "premium" brand. I have been riding esk8 for 4 years and I have experienced the braking issues with a GTR and Carbon GT. I was aware of all of their excuses here and how to calibrate their remote. The board randomly engaged the brakes on its own and I was able to replicate the issue. Even with the old R1 remote and the new R2 remote. Evolve is full of shit. They never fixed this issue and will continue blaming their own software and hardware problems on their user base.

@@maxdagosti94 this happened to me as well brand new board and the break locked up hard when I was cruising at about 18 mph. And nope I didn't hit the brakes because I've tested hitting the brakes while on the throttle lots of times so I know what to expect. When I got up a couple minutes later (cause I had the wind and everything knocked out of me) the board was just sitting stopped dead on the trail where the brakes engaged. It was as if it had hit an imaginary wall and just did not move. I've been riding for a lot of years i have manual boards and other E boards, when I crash like that i usually end up with my board in a heap or pile somewhere because the board has momentum that keeps it moving with me sometimes the board would end up way past me it doesn't just stop dead like that. This video kinda explains Evolves attitude obviously they believe its not happening so they are not really investigating the board and components. This Sucks! I will add though that if you have an evolve board that works they way it should you have just about the most fun and best board you could every ride, at least if you ride the bamboo gtr. It flexes just right carves just right its the wheels go over everything like it was sliding on butter, so I get the fan boys. I've recently bought a second-hand stoke and had the wheel lock-up problem occasionally. Based on my research, the wheel lock-up problem probably comes from the improperly installed pulley. As I measured, the gap between the outer pulleys and the motor plates are less than 2mm. As pulley is made by plastic and the bearing of the pulley steel, improper installation will deform the contact interface between these two. When u install the bolt of the axle, normally the bolt stops to turn instantly when it is in tighten position, but when the interface is somehow deformed, the bolt could be tightened further after applied a bit more torque. After that, the outer of the pulley will get in touch with the motor plate, which makes the pulley is hard to rotate. This problem is hard to reproduce and may vary depending on how tight the bolt is. In this case, u should change the pulley immediately and that is how I solve the problem. And everything works smoothly so far.

Had the Carbon Gtr for 3 days. Coming from a Boosted board stealth with 1700 miles on it. Was riding at full speed in residential when suddenly the remote vibrated and the board lost connection throwing me 15 feet. Some how I was able to outrun the fall. I wasn’t able to reconnect the board even though I tried everything. Evolve tried to guid me me through all the steps to reconnect the board but wasn’t able too. They told me to send it back. Even though I heard all the stories and knew of the disconnection issues I still ended up buying it hoping I would be one of the lucky ones to not experience disconnection issues since the gtr has been out for awhile and I hoped that they had the bugs fixed in the newer models but nope. Positives: The Gtr Carbon street is hands down the sleekest looking board on the market(arguably even better looking then the Hadean) and feels really fun to ride. If you just want to go slow and cruse around, this board is still soooo fun. I really hope they can fix the disconnection issues with there boards by maybe adding a wheel remote to help the software distinguish between the start and break. I have nothing but the best interest of Evolve and Boards. The first step is to acknowledge the issues too fix them. The disconnection issues are real, TRUST.

I thought I had a break lock up the other day, turns out what actually happened was my remote ran out of battery in the middle of hard acceleration in GTR mode, I couldn't correct my balance in time. Fortunately I am very proficient at "tuck and rolling" so came away pretty much fine. I know it's my fault for not checking the battery level of the remote before riding, but wouldn't it be a good idea if the remote runs out of battery, that the board scales down speed smoothly rather than a massive jolt?

I still have the Carbon GT I bought from Evolve in 2016, and 2 others. When I first got the board, I got a surprise jolt, and whether or not it was throttle cut or brake, the unexpected and sudden drop in speed nearly tossed me onto my face, at about 20mph (I was running the R1 remote). Called Evolve Support, did the re-calibration, and it's never happened again. Are there issues with the current gen R2 remote/firmware? I do believe the manual does give instructions to reset your remote as a matter of maintenace, and offers other important intructions on how exactly to pair the board to the remote. Thinking about a Stoke, but I'm so spoiled on the Evolve 7" street tires that thane that small will feel harsh, with less grip...less grip can be fun, even at 58 :) I don't know how many people are taking boards on planes, but I don't, either. Sell the board with a bigger battery/more range, and let frequent flyer E boaders buy the travel battery if needed. Figure out a way to get bigger wheels to fit (we 200lb+ guys might use stiffer bushings (Riptide sells a nice kit based on your weight)), and sell easily installed & replacement batteries for previous gen boards, at less than $500, so your low mileage/well cared for $2K Evolve board is worth more than $500 after less than 3 years of light use. ;)

I have been riding the evolve carbon for a couple of years. Their explanation is consistent with my experience. The only time I fell due to this (I have fallen for other reasons) was when I was going up a steep hill and the inertia of the board stopping due to motor power cut was enough to give me a dive. I did not know what it was at that time but now I guess I must have just touched the brake and cut all power. Other times when power is cut for the same reason - the analysis of accidentally touching the brake - seems to be a reasonable one. Usually when on the flat it is not enough to throw you - it does wake you up though. and then you make sure you dont do it again for quite a while.

interesting video, I've never had my Evolve board lock up but I have had random shut off's where the board completely turns off, the board just jolts a bit when you go from power to nothing and you kind of free roll. I could see how someone could be thrown off in that instance. about the remotes, their rubbish, the design side is functional but way too fragile a small drop and you essentially play 52 card pickup with the buttons and screen protector of the remote and may need a new screen, I think the solution maybe go back to the older remote design that was a bit more robust or seek out a better 3rd party option like Maytech which shares a similar design in there waterproof.

Same here … Was enjoying my Bamboo GTX with regular maintenance and controler resets for a year, when once in a sudden, at top speed the wheels locked and I ended up in hospital with a broken collarbone. Thank god I was wearing a helmet, otherwise I would be dead as I had a concosion even with a helmet on. Got the same response from Evolve as everyone else does. Been skateboarding for 15 yrs so trust me when I say my fingers weren’t even near the break. I have had this problem with my Exway board. Original battery, I got thrown off 5 or 6 times before getting a new battery. The new battery fixed the problem, but after a year or so on the new battery, I got brake-locked thrown off again a few days ago. When I've looked into it, ALL electric skateboards can do this. It's something built into all of the popular ESCs. Even custom boards will have the same problem (unless this has been addressed since I looked into it a year ago). Thankfully I have only been scraped and bruised up so far, but I'm afraid it will be a bad fall one day. Hate to give up riding over a terrible design flaw in eSkate ESCs.

My 1st gen preordered Evolve GTR Bamboo Gen 1 Brakes locked up on my and threw me off the board one time going up a hill. It happened about 3-4 seconds after I started accelerating up the hill from a complete stop. This happened about 2 months into owning the board. I've ridden over 1000 miles on it since then and have not had it locked up since. There is something strange with the braking system when I'm going down hill. The board jerks when I try to use the brake going down hill. There is a technique where I have to lightly press the brake first for it to jerk and then press it harder or else it will jerk too hard and throw me off the board.

Fair answer from Evolve I thought. The remote frustrated me at first in its fragility and sensitivity however adapting thumb position from resting on brake in terrain with tight turns to abducting the tumb position to avoid accidental engagement in full speed long deep carves affords me the confidence I'm driving the board rather than being a passenger hitting the stop go button. Then the light weight ergonomic design of the remote all of a sudden felt very positive for my experience thus far. P. S I am getting the cover as $16nz is worthy insurance and I did suggest to evolve they come with original purchase which easily can be built into price.

The only variation I can tell is I braked very hard for a car just before, I pulled into the side of the car past and I took off again but not a second later the board threw me off... The brakes fully engaged and fortunately I was able to run it off. The remote disconnected and the light on the button of the board was flashing... after powering off and on two times it started working again but now I have no confidence... if I had been going quickly on the main road I could’ve been thrown into oncoming traffic. I absolutely love my board and I can’t afford another one but this is really unreasonable and someone is going to get killed. Evolve needs to recall any board that does this.

I've had a GTR for a while, and I had a problem with my remote where the piece of plastic that the brake lever spring is attached to broke with no warning, which makes the brake lever go to about 30 degrees and engage the brakes. Its an issue with these remotes, I always tell people with evolves to ride with your thumb on the back part of the brake holding it in the off position, it looks like it is designed to do this anyway and makes sense. Even if you brush the controller against your leg, if you arent holding the brake in the off position it could easily be accidentally pressed. I'm completely confident in my board if i use the remote like this

  • @grassIand

    @grassIand

    3 жыл бұрын

Eye Heisenberg if you first riding it and hit the break too hard it will lock up on you, you really need to be gentle with your thumb on the break, when you press the break while accelerating, the break will overwrite the acceleration, cut out power and start breaking, idk if it's just me but evolve's break is not linear at all, it has different activation points at different speed and when it breaks the break strength starts from 0% and jumps to 20% when you are going above 20mph, the jolt when you break is gonna throw your balance off which is very sketchy, you really need to get used to how it reacts to your inputs and anticipate it, also sometimes if I break hard or break while holding the acceleration trigger, the acceleration couldn't engage immediately I had to wait 2sec and pull the trigger again to engage the acceleration which is very weird when I first experience it, idk if it's a safety feature for me to double confirm my input after breaking or it's just slow to power back on when break cuts out the power, even though I've got used to how the remote works after riding it 2 weeks, the decision on separating the acceleration and breaking trigger is horrible

BGTR... I have a couple videos (not on youtube yet) showing my remote turning off completely and the board still running almost full speed while remote is off... it just happened over the weekend as i was going down a 3% grade down hill around 20mph i went to slow down coming into a intersection and the remote didn't respond i quickly looked down at he remote and it was off but the board was still pulling as if i were pulling the throttle. I had to jump off and almost had a horrible crash landing but caught myself, as i chased my board down the street watching it get further away i tried to power on the remote as i was running after it but by that time it ran through the intersection through some cars and hit a brick wall in front of a subdivision and flipped upside down. It was hard to watch as a dust cloud went up and rocks went flying... when i caught up to it by the wall it was still running as if i the throttle was on stuck mode full speed. I then turned it off and on and noticed the remote was not connecting, i turned the remote of then on and then board and it wouldn't connect after a few tries so i gave up till i got picked up and driving back home. I then made some videos of the remote finally connecting and then pulling the throttle and pressing the break a few times then releasing the break the pulling throttle and then after a few seconds the remote shut off and the board is still running. That said im still waiting for evolve to help me resolve this issue cause right now im not comfortable to ride it plus its got some dents and gouges on it that are new from the accident that make me wonder as hard as it hit what could be damaged. plus to note as i free spin one of the wheels the motor now makes this clicking sound as i rotate it and you can feel it in your hand when it clicks. so i now have a paper weight that im still paying off.

I experienced a full brake lockup a couple of weeks ago - fortunately I was not going flat out due to riding on rough bumpy path - thought board was bricked as locked on brakes. was able to diagnose - dirt ingress got into the brake lever (i disassembled and cleaned it out) i believe condensation causes the brake lever potentiometer to short due to the dirt becoming conductive when moist , basically sending a 100% brake signal to the board from the remote. Poor build quality of remote is to blame and they should be recalled imo theres no reason it couldn't be made IPX7 sealed.

when you going uphill on grass or off-road and if accel cut off happens, the board slowdown dramatically and it will shoot you off. And using GTR mode for long time and when motor gets really hot, it cuts off accel sometimes. And the BT connection is not stable so when BT connection lost, the board might shoot you off. GTR series is faulty designed here and there so it is not recommended to ride. It happens a lot to me and I never use GTR mode at all and everytime I do trigger reset before riding it. R2 remote is the most horrible design remote for esk8 board ever.

I’m surprised evolve didn’t mention the drop out to eco mode, when under hard acceleration with a lower battery,... it will push hard to 15-20k and lose all torque suddenly. Happened to me only once, I was low on batt on my GT, someone wanted to see the thing take off, accelerate hard for a few seconds and it “cuts out” to eco mode to save battery. The result is me tumbling off the board forward, It had never happened to me before, but I’d heard about it. I did it again immediately after to test/make sure, had to tuck n roll again even expecting it. Kill your battery most of the way, then try to show someone how fast it takes off. Careful, you’ll eat shit.

Firstly great video, it confirms what i suspected after coming off twice in recent weeks. I've been skating skateboards and longboards for years, so knew it was user error rather than a glitch. I initially put it down to absent mindedness but after some digging i think you can lower the risk. What i would say is that it depends on the set up as to how likely you are to be thrown off. I currently have the GTR Carbon in the AT set up, and If you're not paying attention and you tap the brake by mistake a speed (15mph +), then you're going down. This is especially easy to do if you ride in gloves. To mitigate this I've set the brake min to a little bit of pressure rather than completely out which helps lessen the risk of stacking due to brushing the brake. A lot of this could be solved by Evolve advising recalibratoon every few rides and obviously better build quality on the remotes.

I think the brake trigger is more sensitive then the acceleration trigger , you have to know where your putting your weight. I've never experienced wheel lock up ! It's so easy to blame your tools , It's a new way of skating therefore like everything else needs a little practice, An your get better

You know - it’s purely one’s own perspective to just say a separate braking procedure is the root cause of the issue or a better or worse way if doing things. I prefer the evolve remote as it’s the same procedure as holding a firearm. For many who handle tools including handguns, know that trigger discipline is super important and so many keep fingers away from the trigger unless going to use. This translates to over the other digits and thumbs. Essentially, you only ever do what you actually are mentally ordering your body (fingers) to perform. I’m think the evolve early remotes could be better and to stop all this nonsense, why not just make the new remote to be able to be used with older boards but from now on, the new boards ought be getting the better remotes as with the Hadean. Riders would pay for it. Skaters are the types to expect free everything like the wankers of the internet would expect.

EXACTLY. anddd, MOST riders are ex boosted riders and hit the lever by accident. i learned to ride on an evolve and have FIVE bikes evolves and know DOZENS with evolves, and ZERO problems.. and THENNN, later on i got a onsra and a backfire, (just like boosted rollerball type remote) and THENNN i threw myself off because i got used to those remotes... so all u evolve haters, suck it.. accept it. evolve is the BEST esk8 brand under $2000 us dollars ..

I would agree except these boards throw riders off without touching the brake. I used to deny it till it happened to me...been riding evolve for 2yrs, upgraded to a carbon gtr only for this shit to happen. Could have killed me if it happened at speed. Full brake lock, even after turning off board, followed by smoking motor controller. Shit was dry as a bone. Pissed me off now I'm buying an actual quality board

@@mh22xv You okay? I'm guessing since it was your third day of riding you weren't going too ham on it, but yeah, it's really dangerous. There are multiple reasons why a rider could get thrown, some of them related to user error and incorrect trigger calibration, but to pretend all accounts are that is annoyingly obtuse. I feel bad for whoever I'm gunna sell this thing to once repaired and I'll let em know to always ride at a speed they are comfortable falling at and to wear appropriate gear. Evolve told me my motor controller had a faulty component, and reading around, it does seem like the vast majority of boards are fine and most bails are user error, but motor controller failure will cause a total lock up, and that is unacceptable, especially at this price point. Nothing should be higher quality than this component. I'm getting a lacroix. Decided on the nazare superport. I can't believe I'm buying a 40 pound board and spending so much money, but if that's what it takes for a ride I can depend on, that's what I'll spend. A lot of ppl say just get the lonestar (the range is absurd) but I can't think of a situation where I'd actually need all that range in a single day and don't want the extra 10 pounds nor to spend the extra grand, so I'm very happy with my choice.

You were not going fast enough to get the effect everyone is talking about. I’ve been thrown off my stole from this exact thing many times. For me it happens when I’m going downhill and faster than the max speed the board can go. So no throttle on at all just natural downhill speed. I think the brakes are not made to ease on slow enough to stop you safely when you are going faster than the max speed, resulting in a massive jolt in break power that throws you off your board! I now don’t ever go faster than the max speed and it has not happed again since. But I could easily replicate the jolt by going downhill faster than the boards throttle can go.

There should never be a situation where the brakes lock 100% with the possibility of that happening at speed, period. Mine did it a few weeks ago, total motor controller failure, thing was dry as a whale's elbow, working perfect, and out of fking nowhere, FULL BRAKE LOCK I can't even watch this video after what happened to me. The brakes STAYED LOCKED even when the board was turned off. Had to actually unplug the motors to disengage the brakes. It is NOT a loss in acceleration, not a throttle cut, it is FULL FUCKING 100% MAXIMUM BRAKE WHEN ARE PEOPLE GUNNA START LISTENING TO USER STORIES!!! I know how the bloody remote works, I've opened it up and put the spring back, it was NOT THAT. LISTEN FOR FUCKS SAKE LISTEN TO INFORMATION THAT COULD SAVE LIVES im so pissed at evolve...gtr was less than a year old. Let's see them somehow blame me for this

The bad reputation of Evolve from my experience, is due to the bad battery with which they were equipped. The vast majority had to upgrade to 18650, due to the terrible sag. As the bamboo board is flexible, over time the battery pack opened in the center due to fatigue of the nickel strip, after several months of working perfectly. That caused the voltage to drop abruptly to half or nothing, the same way it would if I had braked and caused me to crash a couple of times. I noticed that when going through a small pothole. So I opened it and found the problem flexing the board seeing that the battery came apart in the middle and braked. Yes, the problem was my custom 18650 battery, but the main fault is from Evolve for putting such bad batteries that they forced everyone to change them, I think that caused them to damage their reputation and then they corrected with the GTR. I'd bet most of the brake locking were on Bamboo boards with 18650 batteries.
