I own a Evolve GTR Carbon Street and I couldn’t be happier. Does everything I could hope for. Today my wife and I went 14.7 miles (I on my Evolve and her on a e-scooter). 62% battery left. I’m 215 pounds. If you can’t afford the GTR, and I get it, it’s expensive as hell, any E-Board that you can afford will be a blast. I hope Evolve keeps going strong and I hope other companies can produce much cheaper boards so more can take part. I only use “Pro” mode. GTR is too fast for me. Top speed I’ve been is 21.7 mph , and that’s all I will go personally. There was more. I can upload my data from the controller and my Ride App. I do use the ABEC 107mm wheels.

The estimated ranges given in the video were for the setup in the video, so 7inch wheels and 66t gearing. Glad you are happy with your purchase bro! 👌

Lee Wright Yeah, I had never owned an electric Board. I didn’t realize the difference in range or speed. I had ridden longboards since I was young, got my son into them at Christmas (14 yrs old) and realized I can’t keep up with him. So I went this route. I’m buying him one now, but it won’t be an Evolve due to his age and cost.

Evolve stepped in some premium doo-doo here. Great info on the battery comparison, Lee. You mentioned your hair at the beginning. I am not a DIY E-Skate builder, however I did learn to cut my own hair a few years ago when my barber went out of business. Now I do accidently cut myself a bald spot once in a while, but I can give you some haircut DIY pointers if you're interested:) (By the way your hair did not look bad at all to me) Get well and stay well, Lee!

Great content Lee - I've owned a Flex for about 6 months, and bought a Bamboo GTR a week ago. Everything they say about the carvability of the DKP trucks on the Evolve is true - although I'm struggling with stability at the moment. The extra range (on street wheels) is also very much welcomed at about 40kms. But, the Flex feels more linear in the application of power and brakes and way easier to just get on and ride. I have to "prepare" to brake on the Evolve. The initial bite is a bit garbage no matter how "ready" I am for it. The Flex is MUCH cleaner. It just doesn't have the range I want, and the deck does hurt my feet after about 10kms :( They're both good boards - but the Evolve is going to take longer to get used to. I'm watching your content to upgrade the motor and battery after Ricky gave you a mention on Average eSkate Reviews.

Thanks Lee, you don’t think Evolve are doing these comparison videos cause Jeff wants a Lacroix to ride on weekends. It would usually be difficult for the company owner to ride an alternate brand but if you make it about a comparison then it’s ok. Who could blame him.

Thanks for speaking out Lee. I have to agree manufactures should avoid making such biased videos like this. I can only think its been done by fear of losing market share going forward. Hopefully Jay will be more careful next time and maybe this is payback for him leaking Evolve's launch early not so long ago but does sound like hes been duped into this.

The motors overheat on my gtr thay should of used 63mm motors with 40t cells

They tried 63mm motors but they cause their motor controller to overheat and lock up 🙈

Wow, I really am lost on the purpose of this video. You start off by criticising the unfair comparisons and then proceed to make your own unfair comparisons about both boards. I agree that evolve didn’t need to do this video and probably should have been more professional but I dislike your approach to this, there is more to a how a board performs than just the cells used in the battery. Maybe you could source a bamboo gtr with street wheels and a flex and do a real world comparison before making comparisons on paper and claiming things like the flex would climb hills better. Anyway keep the videos coming, your board building videos are great and hope your feeling better soon.

I do hope MR Boston got a sorry from evolve for making him look bad. PS prices on evolves site are with travel battery not the bigger full length more expensive 1. Carbon GTR on streets with big battery £1699 so about £1000 more than the Flex

Im 200lb+ and i got the X1 Pro.. And its accelerating just fine.. Not even comparable to the Evolve-video shitshow.. And the Exway Flex and X1 Pro are pretty similar..

Evolve has always been clueless at best, and intentionally dishonest at worst. They ignored the dangers of their previous generation of products. Putting out content explaining why they used inferior battery packs, touting them as superior. They never addressed the connection issues with their remotes to any appreciable degree. And their latest gen uses sub standard parts that are all built in the country they bash in their video. I live in the USA, I know subtle racism when I see it, and that video was rich with it. They took care to maintain plausible deniability, but it's still there. You're right, Lee. This isn't the content a premium brand publishes. This is the content a desperate and out of touch brand produces. I'd sooner buy an Ownboard AT or drop the money on a Trampa than give them a dime. Anyway, professional as always Lee. Well done.

Not as retaliation, but because if that video is consistent with the image and brand they want to portray, then their customer base should reflect that. A company that doesn't value honesty and integrity should lose customers that do, and retain customers that are willing to accept this behavior. Frankly, I've seen some postings on Reddit, KZread and IG from that "soul vibes" person who says he's sponsored by them. And his attitude seems consistent with what they're doing. So that doesn't surprise me. Fortunately, there are better products out there, independent of price.

Evolve lost all respect for me

I think it was a little bit underhanded but honestly nothing wrong with it. the guy that lent out his pre-release board to Evolve probably shouldn't have done so even if there was nothing in writing stating that he legally couldn't demo the board. but again it was in his right as well - I mean you should just have the common sense and decency if a company is doing something in good will... i dunno. I do think that this could definitely benefit Exway giving them attention that they wouldn't have otherwise gotten and acknowledgement from one of the top of the top brands in the industry. In reality, anyone buying an Exway doesn't expect their board to perform as fast as a board that costs so much more anyway so no harm done. I think Exway should release their own video now with their own "objective tests". It would get a ton of attention.

Like we didnt know the board that cost 1200 more is better. 1200 better probably not.

Jay Boston really messed up. What he could have done instead is getting boards from Evolve and include others like Boosted, Meepo and Wowgo and run all of these same performance benchmarks to provide an unbiased comparison. Exway not not like that comparison, but they should not control the reviews. But Jay Boston exercised very bad judgement. Companies should steer clear of him going forward. Now someone else will need to do a proper comparison of several boards with the same rider on the same terrain.

Kaly, Lacroix, MetroboardX... this was a big mistake by Evolve. I have liked Evolve because they have been around for so long and have improved their product over many versions. Though I think boards should only be compared to boards in the same category. I'd say Boosted's longboard compares best to the new Exway Flex as well as the Wowgo and Meepo boards. Evolve is best compared to other AT boards like Backfire and Raldey. Some boards are great for having a little fun while others are for long rides with a lot of range. Once someone picks the category of board they want it would help to then see the performance and price comparisons.

Mate my thoughts exactly, its super unprofessional I have a 3 diy and 3 evolves and ridden the exway x1 several times its a brilliant board it even out performed some of the evolve GT'S on a group ride. I know the flex when it comes out will be a more polished board. But you nauled it exactly it cost 3 times more. Its like comparind a kia serento against a tesla model X. The winner is Duuuuur!!!!!!!!! So disappointed in Jeff and his lads.

Their current range of boards does not interest me either if I'm honest. I think the GTR is a good board but it's not my cup of tea

Apples to apples not fair however Evolve does acknowledge this point and goes on to state the comparison is purely for rider experience and that IS an accurate assessment. Yeah Evolve shouldn't do an unfair comparison, and yes you are right - a shit show. But why are you comparing without riding? I own both an x1 pro (hub and belt drive) and a gtr bamboo AT (which doesnt have 66 teeth by the way but a different option), and they are the opposite of your hands off predictions re battery sag, and hills etc. Maybe new flex is better than pro, but not according to Exway. Ride is hugely better on gtr, but I still love the stealth and customisation of x1 pro (even though its been awaiting repair more than i've ridden it), and maybe Flex ride is great too - I might buy one given the price - maybe you should too). Stick to the criticism of Evolve's absolutely unfair comparison against a pre production board, rather than doing a non-hands on of your own and you get my support. I like your channel and technical knowledge, but 2 wrongs don't make a right. Evolve obviously were a bit sneaky getting a hold of this pre-prod prototype, but I don't buy into your unexplained defense of Jay based on him having told you something. If you trust him then great. Exway is the real injured party, and if Jay can explain his part in this to Exway and if they accept it then all good. As for whether evolve have a right to publicly compare boards, its been pretty common in the past, think windows v apple etc. Individual vloggers don't have a monopoly on KZread esk8 comment. i just don't agree with you, and i don't think youtube does either. Evolve absolutely has a right to publish on youtube within guidelines, and the market (ie us) is smart enough to evaluate that it is biassed, which it has. What is sneakier are some individual vloggers pretending to be objective while pushing particular boards for commission - you haven't called them out, but at least everyone knows that Evolve is biassed to the board they sell. I like Fabis approach, he is indisputably a non diy esk8 vlogger, ie has a genuine mandate, called out the bad behaviour of Evolve but withheld comment until he could personally hands on compare the boards. We all know he makes a dollar but he doesn't hide it. Maybe you want to branch out from DIY I don't know. None of this is any more complicated than any other battery powered rc hobby, (brushless motors, digital transmitters and lithium batteries changed everything!!) so the commercialisation of that is a bit silly at times. I just laugh at the lacroix website comparing its boards to Ferraris or whatever... I would have thought a DIY guy like yourself would laugh at the carry-on of all involved, and point out that DIY can simply blow lots of commercial boards away in any category, (if you're willing to order and build) rather than buy into it much at all. A sense of proportion - maybe a few thousand people in the world care enough to even look. But hey its your right to comment as you wish. I like your content. Sorry you're sick and get well soon.

I think you have fair points there mate and I cant argue with any of them except say that I have ridden the GTR and it does sag a lot going up hills. I think I wanted to approach it from a scientific point of view and look at it on paper, which is all any of us can do because the flex isnt out yet. I fully expect people will make a video comparing these two boards when the flex is out now. It's a shame you didnt like this video bro but I appreciate you taking the time out to write me such a detailed reply, cheers for going against the grain and holding me to account 👍

My issues with Evolve are they're too expensive (like Boosted) and if you're a hub motor purist they have nothing ideal for that purpose. Sure, they use large batteries but there's dozens of brands offering more for less expensive pricing. A price drop would help them so much business-wise. Plus, that gun remote is an acquired taste!

The tests in the evolve vid do have merit not a perfect comparison but you can’t say they are rubbish tests at all. Will eWay be a better board than the gtr you already know it won’t. Your calculations were rubbish as were your comments oh my friends said that’s what I get so that’s what it is

My calculations were based on science mate, there are no other calculations to be done at this time. I dont own an evolve but have plenty of friends who do so asked them - what else should I do? The test in the evolve video is basically one test... a 50m sprint and that's why its rubbish. Sounds like your a butt hurt evolve owner, commiserations bro 👍

Lee Wright asking your friends what the top speed is ain’t science bro grab both boards and do a proper comparison and some real world stuff not just guessed figured based on here say and what you can type into a flash program, the test in the videos showed basic tests nothing wrong with that but I do agree it’s not for evolve to be doing the tests and there’s much more to test and it needs to be independent, I am an evolve owner but ain’t saying there boards are best I don’t have any others to compare, be great having more companies making boards the same or better than evolve but eWay don’t look like they have done that, you mention the prices but nothing about after sales support so are they really cheaper? The Evolve fella said he felt unsafe with the remote lag, what about quality electronics, the deck, bearings, trucks, wheels, belt quality and spare parts a board ain’t just about the best battery and some dude that ain’t even owned an evolve trying to brainwash people into thinking the eWay is better because I punched in some numbers into an online calc you didn’t even make so your clacs are as good as the evolve ride tests. Bet my balls if the two boards where in front of you and you could take one for free you’d take the GTR!

@@BigWillieFPV did you watch the video? The top speed wasnt guessed by asking people - it was calculated using battery voltage, pulley ratio and wheel size - that's science bro. You can test it for yourself - evolve, 7 in tyres and 66t pulley - see if you get the top speed I say in my video. The only thing I "guessed" is the range, because that will be different for everyone depending on your weight and riding style - it's impossible to give a figure for everyone just an average and if you did watch the video I said I estimated the range for both boards - completely fair. Top speed was calculated, by science which is provable. I have been building boards and using the online calculations for years brother and I know how accurate they are. If I had both boards in front of me I would deffo take the GTR, then I would rip the shitty cells out of it and put a good battery pack in there. I never said one is better than the other, I said, very clearly, that they are two different boards for two different purposes. I said that many times.

Y'all need to let it go. Carwow compare a g wagon to a jimny but when evolve compare an exway to an evolve everyone gets upset

No matter how good the Evolve board is, I wouldn't buy one from those rats.
