    Eren sees his own future within Grisha's memories, but Grisha only sees the memories that are hand-picked and sent to him by future Eren. In other words, Eren manipulated his past-self and everything, to achieve his goal. (this is my old comment) by far the best episode

  • @vindifference

    @vindifference

    Though his attempt to effect the past is all basically meaningless, since in order to get to the point where he can manipulate the past, he needs to achieve his goals anyway. There's no logic in trying to make the past lead you to your present. So Eren wants to have agency in contributing to his goals, but in reality he isn't making a speck of difference. Which is consistent with his character.

    @@austinmilne1263 Its not a paradox. We have this mysterious founding titan powers that is not bound by time at all. So how can you try to add time logic to something that doesn't follow time logic? Its the same thing as Isayama the author of AOT. He doesn't have to follow any logic when writing this story. You can't say Isayama broke the laws of physics. He is just writing a story. Its the same thing with the founding titan. Its not breaking any laws of physics if it exists outside of time. Founding titan can stop time by going into path realm and look at past memories. Attack titan can see future memories. All of your logic gets rolled up in a ball and tossed in the garbage because of these powers. Bootstrap paradox is when you try to use our universe's logic and rules. And scientist don't even know what the rules of our universe even are. They are just using the best theories we have to make hypothesis about time travel. All scientists agree that general relativity and quantum field theory and standard model are not the final laws of the universe. They are approximations to the real laws of the universe.

    So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here. AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. This calls into the question of the existence of free will in the world of Attack of Titan. The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past? Well, he had 3 perfect conditions: 1) He had the ability of the Attack Titan 2) The ability of the Founding Titan 3) He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke. After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror. Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time. So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually receiving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time. Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV

    Eren whispered in Isayama's ear and told him to write this story On a serious note, it's really scary how Grisha, someone who was so anti-Marley and pro-Eldia, saw one glimpse of Eren's plan and was like, "Zeke. You have to stop him." Despite Grisha's hate for Marley and how far he was willing to go, even HE thought his plan was too far. He was genuinely horrified. Whatever Eren's plan is, Grisha does not want it to happen. Speaking of, Zeke and Grisha finally getting to work out their issues and hug each other in a moment of pure love is really heartwarming. Grisha understood his mistakes when raising Zeke before. Instead of only treating him as a tool, he treats him as his son. Zeke is finally able to take his first step towards closure after years of trauma. Even if they had their differences, Grisha and Zeke can at least agree with one thing: Stopping Eren.

    So if you’re confuzzled everything Eren sees is project into Grisha during this sequence. He can only see Zeke if Eren is looking at Zeke. He can also kind of see double when he’s behind him which is why he glances over during the conflict and when he’s looking at Eren all he can see is himself from Eren’s eyes.

    all grisha saw was eren pov. while looking at Grisha's memory, Eren and Zeke are always next to each other, side by side, so Grisha doesn't know Zeke exists. the first time grisha saw zeke, eren was also in the position of looking at zeke. When Grisha stood looking at Zeke, Eren was already walking towards the door. the second time grisha saw zeke, eren was also in a position to see zeke, this time eren didn't move until grisha said, stop eren.

    If you notice everytime Grisha addresses or sees Zeke, Eren was looking at Zeke. At the end with Grisha hugging Zeke, Eren was standing opposite to Zeke, so Grisha could have a direct perspective through Eren's eyes when he went to have his final(possibly first) bonding moment with his first born to tell him sorry for not knowing how to be the father Zeke needed until it was too late.

    This is what episode 20 reveals (apologies if my english is not correct) : 2000 years ago, Ymir, ancestor and mother of the Eldian people obtained the power of the titans. This power allowed the first King Fritz to extend his empire over the entire known world. Ymir decided to create a different titan : the Assailant. Designed unlike the others, for a different purpose, without the royal family knowing it existence because it embodies Ymir's desire to counter royal selfishness ; a belligerent, jamming, rebellious and disruptive titan. If like the other bearers of titans, the Assailant can see the memories of his predecessors, he can also glimpse those of his successors. A power that only Eren uses in the story, which shows that he's the last wielder of the Assailant in the story. The Assaillant who reveals his powers can only be the last in the chain, which means that for 2000 years the wielders of the Assaillant have followed the will of the last wielder : Eren's will. A call from the future explaining to the Assailants that they will be the key to freeing themselves from Fritz's rule. If this titan has never stopped moving forward, it's simply because Eren designed the image of it, so he writes history and shapes it; all the events that have occurred since the beginning of the history were put in place by him without his knowing it, until he kisses Historia's hand. By creating this titan, Ymir who had started the story of the titans, had created the end without it being able to be changed. If we repeat the plot, we get this : Eren, from the future, forces his father Grisha, holder of the Assailant, to recover the Original to give it to his son, so that he can attack Mahr in the first part of the final season, to return to the island with his royal blood brother, so they can make contact, so they can see Grisha's memories, so he can steal the Original, so he can give to his son. The circle is complete, the future is on and nothing can stop it because it has obeyed the Assailant for 2000 years.

    so many people get this wrong, Eren does not know everything. he only knows certain events and memory fragments that he saw through Grisha's memories of some of Eren's own memories due to the glimpses the attack titan sees. there have been quite a few moments this season where eren actually looked shocked, if he knew everything that was to come he would not have had reactions like that. so to be clear Eren does not know everything that will happen only certain aspects.

    The attack titan can share memories through its lifetime. Eren starts to get random dreams throughout the story to help guide him. However the titan of the future can manipulate the memories of the previous host. That is why the guy who gave Erin's father the attack titan said you must protect Mikasa and Armon. Eren planned his own birth and everything up until then. Also once he kissed Histora's hand he was able to see it all, that's why he seems a little off after all of that until now. He has always had the tiring eyes after that day.

  • @KingBot1211

    In the story, " knowing the memory of the future " is literally a curse, they can't see all of the future, but seeing something they don't even understand why themselves would do at the moment they see, Grisha and Eren both become more and more broken, day by day, after the moment they see the future memories, from S3 , you can see how lost and angry Eren seems after he kissed Historia's hand, till the beginning of S4, he finally made that decision, fulfill the future memory that he once refuse to believe, THERE IS JUST NO WAY OUT, everything he refused he would do, turn out to be the only option, that's pretty much the most unacceptable shit for who seeking freedom from the day he born.

  • @Uchiha_boy57
    @Uchiha_boy572 жыл бұрын

    To clarify sth, Eren is attack titan but he can't see the memories of next attack titan. If I say why, it's spoil. So how did Eren saw the future?? All titan shifters can see the memories of their last owners, for example Armin can see Bertholdt memories so Eren as a titan shifter can only see Grisha's memories and Grisha can see Eren's memories due to Attack titan slecial trait so it's Grisha who can see the future. The exact moment Eren kissed Historia's hand, he saw Grisha's memories that Grisha saw from Eren memories. That's kinda important.
