@@Dilokiki you don’t understand Floch’s character? It’s simple really. He stared death in the face. He intended to die but was the only one that wanted to challenge Erwin. He survived an onslaught and watched all his friends die. Not only did he have a life changing moment he was the only one to survive and believed it was for a reason. In the final season he clings to a new devil. Not saying he’s justified but it’s not unreasonable the way he acts now.

Even if you don't understand what you're saying, the scene where you can cry when you see the same anime is the same Yuki Kaji, who played the role of Ellen who was beaten by a rebuy and lost his teeth, put bread in his mouth and talked, making him feel like he was out of air.

honestly the things you say about eren are true to an extent but some of the stuff is more fitting for mikasa. like yes eren would do literally anything for his friends but in that moment, he still respects levi, the chain of command despite rebelling, which is why he used words to set up a case for why armin should be the one who should live. mikasa on the other hand was genuinely ready to kill for armin, and she'd do it in a heartbeat if hange wasn't there to persuade her and make her rationalize. eren cares about humanity bc he has such a burden on him to be humanity's saviour, he's used as a war weapon essentially so when push gets to shove, he abandons that burden and just wants the most simplistic desires which is just a happy life for the ppl closest to them, which could be said for every character really. their va's outsold this episode, midnight sun will always be my fav episode in aot i think

Also, what Floch meant about reviving a devil like Commander Erwin, he meant it in a good way. The world that they have lived through has been pure hell, with many of their comrades dying, but Erwin is an insanely strong leader that would have eventually helped in resolving all of this. The devil himself that even came up with the plan to sacrifice himself and most of the Scouts against the Beast Titan.

Erwin is a devil, sending soldiers to their death for a grand mission of uncovering the truth. Remember how they captured Annie the first time in the forest of giant trees?? How many soldiers got wasted? Everyone that is "not in the plan" is a bait. They're told different positions for Eren. The right rear wing suffered Annie's attack. All these soldiers buying time for squad Levi to reach the trap zone?? Sent straight to body bags.

But, now I see he was dreaming raising his hand to his "Teacher" (super quick flash back) "how do we know there's not more humans... outside the wall". The one quote that meant the most in that moment, pointing to the dreams Armin has outside the walls. So Levi actually did make the decision for him, still sad. RIP Commander.

It was clear he wanted to pass on his knowledge and even his position possibly in the future to him. While Hange ends up taking on the position, Armin still retains his smarts and doesn't take Erwin's sacrifice and Levi's choice lightly. The moral of this story? it's great how the episode pieces everything together so you understand why erwin ultimately has to die. it starts with a flashback of armin being excited about seeing the ocean and the reveal that levi was listening in the whole time. then levi remembers erwin saying he wants to go to the basement and that he doesn't know what to do when his dream comes true. levi thinks they're the same, just brats whining about their dreams. that is until, finally, kenny reminds him of how people need something to push them forward or they will have no drive to go on. and it's all beautifully wrapped up with the rest of armins flashback, where he says the sea isn't his limit. he has many things too see. his drive is immense. his dream might not be fulfilled in his lifetime, but he wants to see and learn as much as he can. erwin, on the other hand, is awfully close to getting what he wants, and he may not have the drive to keep being a devil for the sake of saving hummanity anymore once he learns the truth of the world. erwin can't have his dreams fulfilled, or he may become a shell of who he was. so he thanks levi for freeing him of this future. armin has the talent and is drunk on something that keeps him going. so he must be the one who lives

I could be seeing some meaning that is not there, but I have a theory on why Erwins' last words were what they were. Erwin was suffering and delirious from severe trauma, yet he said "Teacher. How do we know there's not more humans outside the walls?." I interpret that this has to be a strong memory. A memory that put him the furthest away as he could get from being/becoming a devil. I think that Levi realized that. So how could Levi, after seeing how far Erwin was trying to get away from being a devil, force him back into being a devil? That is what I think Levi thought and that led him to choosing Armin. I honestly don't think Erwin was even aware that Levi was there.

"Erwin is so selfish" Damn you didn't have to say it like that he is a human too can't he have dreams and aspirations other than devoting his whole existence? (like his dream while selfish still aligned with what benefits humanity while armin seeing the see won't help anyone) And he even sacrificed said dream for the sake of humanity He is not selfish, he is just human....

Erwin literally said himself that he doesn't care if the truth is good for everyone or not (and it can still be debated that it was). Erwin only cared about learning it no matter how many soldiers he sacrificed (which was a lot, seriously every one of this man's plans had him sacrificing soldiers and civilians like nothing). he is not a good person

@@Regu269 does that remove the fact that it didn't align? And I think the fight with the beast is the best example of how he does sacrifice people but not for naught It always worked and took them a step forward

@@Regu269 they're at war with titans which they didn't have enough info about and are literally eating them. What do you expect eyebrows to do? Have tea with them? His "selfish" dream of finding the truth helped the SC moved further to its goal. Unfortunately, he had to take on the ugly role of sending his men to their deaths bec that's part of his duty as a commander. Did he feel guilty about it? Yes. As shown after the female arc and before charging the beast titan. I can't remember which aot source material i read bec it's been ages but it was mentioned that erwin remembers the names of the SC members that died under him and refused to marry bec he didn't know when he will die as a commander (he gave up his love interest on Marie who ended up as Nile's wife). Both of his and armin's dreams would lead them to the other side. While i think erwin's was more straightforward (truth vs curiosity). Either way, Levi had to make a choice, he chose his friend to finally rest and that's all there is to it. Also, everyone in aot did a lot of killings that are no longer limited to titans, they're literally no diff to erwin.

It seems to me that a chair is not enough for you. You're just like some kind of frog jumping on it. How can you scream all the time without crying? Even the eyes are not glass. Good acting. While I was constantly turning away, I did not see the most important thing - Erwin did not give me an injection. I didn't even realize it.
