At the end, if you are victorious, the other side is always the villain no matter what. In this case, Eren is only doing what was done on Paradis. Also not only did he attack when Marley declared war. Paradise absolutely has no choice.

The thing is its really a self fullfilling prophecy or a timeloop. Eren believes that there is no other choice than to destroy the outside world because of the memories he gets from the future. But that future is created by the actions of Eren in the first place. So if Eren would chose a different path the future would change (or he would break the universe by creating a paradoxon).

Imagine Erwin had been chosen to use the colossal titan! He for sure would have been down with Erens plan

For me EREN real mission is to get all the worlds hatred to himself, and also he want to save MIKASA/ ARMIN including all ELDIAN from the hatred of the world. In recent manga chapters, the world is seeing that ELDIANS are helping them to eradicate the real threat/ devil with this people around the world will recognize that ELDIANS also want freedom and peace. In my opinion Mikasa/ Armin have no idea of what EREN real mission is. For me the ending if this will be his real mission, he will die in the hands of Mikasa/ Armin with a smile and with that they will get the idea/ picture of his real mission. BTW this just my opinion and this plot ending is reference to Code Geass and for me that is how you will stop this continues hatred.

I personally don’t see it as character development. I just see it as a kid who has always had the same ideals. He’s willing to kill anything/anyone that stands in his way of freedom. Whether it’s the human traffickers, Titans, or the rest of humanity.

I hated Eren back in season 2, he was loud, unruly and unlike Armin couldn't see the bigger picture, it wasn't until reading the manga past season 3 that I started to like him for both gaining perspective but doubling down on being a psycho that I had to go back and rewatch season 1 and realize, oh Eren has always been a psychopath, you get adults that can barely kill titan even though they train their whole lives for it, people in Marley fighting wars, Armin throws up after shooting someone that was about to kill friend and then there's Eren not even flinching to kill 3 bandits to save Mikasa at age 10 fucking 10, his reaction to enemies is always kill first ask questions never, once he deemed Annie Bertholt and Reiner as enemies there was no more talking only kill them while everyone else was trying to capture them because you know we need information

However in this scenario the WHOLE world calls the people on paradis island Devils. And to make it worse Merleys plan is to make everyone hate the people on paradis Island even more, just to make the other eldians the "good" ones. That's not necessarily true, humans will always find a way to separate themselves maybe on physical features like height or hair color or other things, or based on different beliefs or thoughts. King Fritz is in fault... He was the one who at first destroyed and tortured Marleyans with the help of Ymir Fritz's Titan.... That's why in later future the Marleyans torture Eldians and treats them as trash... I don't take anyone's side both Eldians and Marleyans are in fault...

Iseyama: “Humans are the scariest monsters of all” Young Eren: “I’ll kill every Titan outside my home” Older Eren: “I’ll kill every Human outside my home” In other words, Eren’s aspirations and goals have been the same since the very beginning. Titans are humans, and Eren said he’d kill every last one of them. This includes himself, as he will wipe out the 9 Titan’s powers with himself and everyone will be free. Death is Eren’s freedom, but he wants to give his friend’s the Freedom of life outside of a cage. I think the cage Eren is talking about is his own race, Eldian’s. Eldian’s without the Titan powers are just humans, so Eren’s goal is to free everyone from their own blood. That’s what I interpreted Eren’s motives to be. “Because I was born into this world”.

Not really konoha wasnt actively engaged in war with amegakure (nagatos village) and they didnt oppress them in any way during the main storyline, its just that during the third ninja war amegakure got fucked up and after that they couldve lived in peace nobody really cared about them, nagato wanted to destroy konoha as a form of revenge. Eldians in attack on titan are actively oppresed and on the brink of destruction thats why eren does what he does

Im not saying the Plots are the same exact thing lol but ig a smol example is when he was betrayed by bertholdt and reiner. He felt pain and now that pain went to Porco when he betrayed him by making him think that he was a good guy. Theres many pain that all these characters experienced and im not just talking about oppression at all but just the cycle of pain that gets passed down.

I am still not sure that erens plan is as simple as "destroy everything outside of paradis". There is some fuckery going on with Ymir. As the founding titan, eren seems to be outright oblivious to some things. As the rumbling is happening, eren is flying as a child over the clouds. This is not some "I need to do this horrible thing to save my people, like Reiner" moment, I think Ymir is manipulating him in some way. She is plrobably showing him things that make it seem like that is the only way. Armin even asks Eren "what part of you is free, Eren?". Also AOT uses symbolism sometimes, and Erens founding titans head and arms are literally hanging by strings like a puppet, implying his mind and actions are controlled by Ymir. But maybe I am wrong.

Yeah turns out Eren didn't have any plan whatsoever and was just being a pawn for Ymir, cause she loved the king and wanted to know if she could be freed from love by seeing how mikasa dealt with eren? Its just my theory but i really think eren saw his future succesor's memories where he saw eldias end, cus he said that if the destruction of paradis is the only solution to stop the hatred he absolutely won't allow it, and thus pushed him to use the rumbling without sacrificing those important to him (his closest companions in the scouts, he also told them that they are the most important to him) on his cell he questioned hange desperately of another solution to get out of this his last attempt for someone to convince him that ending humanity is wrong, but hange failed to answer that's why he made up his mind without looking back anymore.

This show is setting up for the most depressing finish in anime history. Seriously, this just can't end happily

Eren is the best protagonist, it’s only natural for him to protect his loved ones and the island. 💯

The very first episode of attack on titan is called "To You, in 2000 Years: The Fall of Shiganshina, Part 1"

I love how Eren is willing to do awful things as opposed to other mainstream anime protagonists.

I agree completely with Eren, sure at first glance it seems selfish, but to give the world a fresh new start is what's truly necessary, no more discrimination, no more dividing, a chance to fix the mistakes made in the past.

Beautifully explained

Here’s a little detail that shows a lot of meaning. If you look at the cover page of chapter 1 and 135, you can see a similarity between the two. In the cover page, we can see Eren/ Bertoldt in titan form looking up towards the survey core as they prepare to attack them. As you can see, Eren literally became what he swore to destroy. This little detail shows how much Eren has changed in the past 133 chapters. He went from a kid who witnessed his moms death at the hands of a titan to a man who is now wagging war against the entire world .

Millions of innocent people with no relation with the hatred to the Eldians will die. Do they deserve the death? did those poor eldian brothers eren killed deserve to die? i don't think so,and i think eren knew this,i do think eren knew that this is not okay,but it's the only way.

Eren technically saved the world, After mikasa killed him all the titans turned back to humans meaning that there are no more titans. Eren was planning it out all along. The reason why he did the rumbling was that the world would anyway would not need the walls to protect them if there were no titans themselves. Apart from that, doing the rumbling would cause mikasa to kill him. Eren loved and trusted Mikasa , Armin and Levi.

I'm voting for Eren, I know it is a difficult decision but if I'm going to follow my heart, I'll do exactly like what he did.

@@eyo4718 That´s the thing... people are talking and moralising but in Eren´s place they would have done the same thing, let´s be honest. It just annoys me when people go: BuT GeNoCiDe Is BaD... people, no one really thinks it´s okay, we just understand that the circumstances influenced the choices Eren made and we must understand that, for Eren, Marleyans are faceless strangers trying to take away people he loves and his freedom. In his shoes, I wouldn´t care about the whole faceless world, if it meant protecting people I love, people that I went through hell with. Moralists should acknowledge that. Genocide is wrong, of course, but Eren´s choice makes sense, we would do the same and it´s kinda the truth that Marleyans did dig their own grave to some extent. I love that in this story we don´t have characters, but real people. The whole story is so real, it almost resembles kind of mirror for our world and how we inflict unnecesarry suffering because we don´t talk and don´t resolve things in calm and constructive manner. AoT is one of the best written stories and I stand by that

Eren went from wanting to slaughtering all Titans, to wanting to destroy his enemies, to wanting to destroy everything outside of Paradis Island.

His goal has always been "destroy my enemies in order to be free". The thing is, back then, he thought the enemies were the titans. It goes all the way back to S1, when Erwin asked Eren about who the enemy was, Eren couldn't reply back then. Now he knows.
