I replaced most of my stakes with 8" lag screws and large washers from the hardware store for around $30. It is way easier to bring my cordless drill to get the stakes into hard ground than pounding the steel ones the Kodiak comes with. These tents are the best, good video!

I think I would have just used the cot for fire starter. :) LOL... wife was wailing on that tent stake. The meal looked awesome...burnt meat is good. Thanks for sharing. What is the little lantern with the glass globe. Looks like a kerosene lantern on a propane tank? Man, I loved the golden glow of the tent and the rain hitting the tent. Very good video. Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video :D Miku is a Shiba Inu and she sure looks like a fox haha. I think my wife would have pummeled me with the hammer if I used the cot as a firestarter lol. The small lantern is the Coleman Lumiere lantern. It connects directly to an isobutane tank and lights up like a candle. Even though it is made by Coleman, I could not find one locally in Canada. I was able to purchase one directly from Amazon Japan and it costed around 60 CDN including shipping. We love our Kodiak tent and fully recommend it. With the kerosene heater on, it was warm and the sound of the rain was soothing. It even stood up to very strong winds! Thank you for your sub. I very much appreciate the support. Happy holidays! :)

Thanks for watching 😊Yea they were burnt but everything tastes good when camping hehe. One of our Nature Hike cot broke down on our 3rd camping trip. The other one is still going strong. Nature Hike brand is a mixed bag. They do have good stuff but their QA is poor so your chance of getting a lemon is higher than other brand. I would still recommend it but make sure to get it from places like Amazon so you can return it easily if you get a lemon. I switched to Helinox and it feels more firm and the set up was easier. Helinox is very expensive though so I would recommend it only if you go camping frequently. Hope this helps 😊

Porteau Cove is one of the best campgrounds in BC! You should definitely check it out. I got the Kodiak tent from their official website since there's no Canadian reseller. The good news though is that they cover the taxes + customs fee (double check with them first though before you buy). I live in a small apartment and I have to flip the tent every 2-3 days to dry it completely. It takes a week to dry and it's a very messy process 😭 This is why I don't use this tent when it's raining.

@@campbobear I was looking for Canadian source and I couldn't find one. If they are willing to cover duties and tax that's a big deal! Thank you for the info! I know canvas takes a while to dry... It must be a big inconvenience to flip it around for 3 days in a small apartment... Keep up the good work with your videos! I remember what it was like when I was starting. It is cool to watch your fast progress and how you tackle things. Just be safe with that axe and fire :) You've got some pretty good advice's on how to chop wood. Avoid big swings with lots of force, it is hard to control swing that way with a small axe. Kneeling was a good advice. If it gets stuck don't try to pull the axe out of the wood. Turn it over and hit it on the back of the head (butt) until it splits, this helps a lot with knotty pieces of wood when axe gets stuck. Google feather sticks, it will help you with starting the fire. I'm learning a lot from you about your food and your cool camping gadgets :) I will definitely try Porteau Cove, I know my kids will love it. Thanks for sharing! We are planning to winter camp there. Wondering if there is strong phone reception / signal there? Perhaps need to reply some emails there :)

The cell phone reception is good. We were getting 1-2 LTE bars and it was good enough to do everything, including zoom calls. Thanks for the comment. Merry xmas!
