ENNEAGRAM TYPE 4 "WINGS" | 4w3 & 4w5 | The Aristocrat & The Bohemian - Enneagram 4 Wings Simplified

Фильм және анимация

Enneagram Type Four wings. Fours are self-aware, sensitive, and reserved. They are emotionally honest, creative, and personal, but can also be moody and self-conscious. Withholding themselves from others due to feeling vulnerable and defective, they can also feel disdainful and exempt from ordinary ways of living.
The two wings of an Enneagram type 4 are:
Enneagram Four with a Three-Wing: "The Aristocrat"
Enneagram Four with a Five-Wing: "The Bohemian"
By understanding wings, you can gain a clearer picture of what your inner motivations look like and how they emerge from your actions and thoughts. Wings can significantly alter how behavior manifests in an individual. ❤ ❤ ❤

I am shocked that every thing I read about 4s make them seem like such negative doubtful whiny ppl. I'm an infj and test 4w5 which seem to often line up, but as an INFJ I care so deeply about ppl and harmonious relationship. I look down at most articles how they depict 4s. Like I understand the negative things and sometimes match up how I feel as a 4w5, but I rarely come across anything positive about 4s 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@melcatdew also an INFJ and 4w5 (think I'm sp/sx) I very much agree with you. I notice a lot of 4 descriptions heavily imply that there's a sad longing for the past and 4's are past focused ... INFJ are future focused and growth oriented, so while we will definitely reflect on the past, we don't live there like a lot of these descriptions indicate. And we aren't cool with letting our emotions spill out in such a way as it negatively affects others, like the "diva 4" descriptions. If it happens we're at absolute breaking point. This video was a relief from all the negativity.

4w5 here. While it is true we do create for ourselves, we also do want an audience, albeit we recognize it must be a selective group. Enter in the elitism. We create for those we know will appreciate it and we are not likely to 'cash in' our talent and integrity to the commercial simply for likes and mass appeal. As example, we'd be more inclined to be a 'writer's writer' rather than some NYT potboiler.

I'm a 4w5, though I do have a lot of the 3 traits as well. The odd thing is that I have never thought of myself as creative or imaginative. It was only after learning about the various personality tests and types and being labeled as creative by every one of them that I began to wonder if I was missing something about myself. It was then that I realized I had actually been creating all my life to the point that it became a reflex rather than a conscious action. As an introverted only child whose family moved every year, I tended to live in my own imagination a lot. The reason I get hung up with the creative label is that I'm not an artist. If I have any talent in any form of art, it hasn't surfaced yet. My creativity is more in the form of designing systems of living. I come up with different ways of doing things, different ways of putting things together. My thinking is more conceptual than linear. I start with the big picture and work backwards. That's how creativity and imagination manifest in me. I really had no idea that everyone didn't think that way.

I lean more toward the 3 wing, but still have a strong 5 wing, and I definitely relate to that concept of creativity! I personally am never able to stick it out with any creative outlet because I end up feeling not good enough... but coming up with so many different ideas for how different the world could be if certain things were done a different way, or imagining movies and music videos in my head as a way to express different points of view and angles in life, that’s where my creativity lies; I hope to bring the systems part to life with a career as a politician. Because of this, someone typed me as a 3, but I feel so much more at home labeling myself a 4.

💯 my biggest hang up as a 4w5 and INFJ, I relate to everything except being creative. I enjoy art, appreciate it, love beautiful scenery, and tried to draw as a teenager, I also attempt playing the piano and am average, but never see myself as creative. I don't practice art and I don't write poetry since highschool. But I am really good at problem solving. My husband is a really good artist but gets hung up on simple day to day planning and solving things. I'm like, it's easy, it's this this and then this. I'm also a medical coder and seems like an unlikely job for us, but I love it. If I see a diagnosis, then I have to know guidelines and other diagnoses that need to be included. And it just lines up in my brain. I can't explain it. But I love it. Your putting together a puzzle. So yea if that's considered creative then I guess I am?

Hi fellow Four! This comment made me feel so seen. As a Four, I’m still struggling to tap into that creative side of myself that I never actually saw in myself. Working with my Enneagram coach, she taught me that creativity doesn’t necessarily equate to being artistic. It extends to so much more and that your creativity can show up in how you view the world. She told me that the my mind itself was so creative and that was so affirming to me. It’s so distinct in this comment too.

I definitely tend to create more for myself, but I'm trying to push myself out of my comfort zone lately and be brave enough to share with others. I personally think my 5 wing is very strong. I don't just want to be seen as unique, I also want to be seen as knowledgeable, wise and independent. One of the most frustrating things in the world to me is when I am patronized or underestimated. So yeah, my 5 wing drives me a lot. But I want to embrace the 3 wing more because I think it has the power to make 4s braver and more determined.

  • @awynsberghe

It's been very validating to see that my process of withdrawing into my emotional world is a part of who I am rather than a failure to 'be normal'. That world honestly feels more true and real to me than anything else. I often feel like I am performing in the wider world, which is also interesting when I am pursuing my inspiration and curiosity. But it's almost like I work in cycles, going out, and then withdrawing, reflecting and creating, setting new goals and ambitions, and then going out again. I have actually worked in many different fields and the immersion into different realities is what is interesting to me as well. I like to understand how things work conceptually. I often have ideas for projects but they are difficult to translate into words and action at times, especially because I need to fit into certain structures and frameworks in order to actualize them. I am very artistically inclined, but don't yet know how to show what I do. A lot of it also just feels so personal -- it's the way I work through what I feel. I don't think I really envy anyone but I think I get frustrated of these cycles at times, wishing I could just be living in my reality rather than questioning my truth and worth all the time. I'm a 4w5 I think but on the other side (to a lesser degree) I have the 3; what does this mean?

I like to withdraw and just escape into my own mind for a bit, but I can also be upbeat when I’m talking about and focused on my ambitions and dreams for the world at large I also don’t relate to the extravagance of the 3 wing, I personally do not like anything too flashy or attention-grabbing or just anything that comes off as “wealthy”; something just feels off about that style. Thanks for sharing this input. I'm more of an introverted 4w3. I guess the extravagance part might relate more to having both "quality" tangible and intangible possessions --- may it be our family, friends, food, relationships, material wealth, memories, adventures, etc... On the other hand (IMO), one of the things that make 4w3 unique is when our hearts dominate our minds when dealing with others or most situations/conflicts. We use our heads when dealing with ourselves, and we use our hearts when dealing with others. 😁

I'm definitely thinking I'm a 4w5 because I'm very introverted and I do enjoy creating all sorts of things. Albeit, I don't think I create anything super amazing. But I do get lots of satisfaction from creating. Especially when it comes to food. I'm absolutely horrible at decorating, but I do enjoy painting as well. I'm not sure about the having an audience thing. I enjoy the praise I receive when someone likes what I've made, but it's also scary to put myself out there because of the fear of rejection. Dealing with lots of emotional trauma has put me in this mindset, I believe. Because of the trauma, I have become very introverted and withdrawn. I have really been putting a lot of time researching the Bible and studying different psychological aspects of trauma to try to make sense of my situation.

i’m a 4w5. although i am young i do have a lot of emotion and i love drama. i will agree i am sometimes hard to argue with because i always, even if i know i’m wrong, find something to blame on the other person and make it like i am the victim. i have a therapist and have been confirmed as depressed but not to bad, probably just a light case. i am very independent and kind of introverted but love going out. i would say i’m very out going but i’d rather stay with my few close friends then go out and make new ones. i would say i am creative and observant but those have kind of started to wear out since my depression. i don’t like to complain about my life as i constantly worry about how others think of me, appearance wise. i want to be nice and help people but i end up being kind of mean and will definitely argue over the smallest things. thank you for reading this paragraph about my personality :)

4w5 here :) I’m currently in school to be a mechanical engineer. Everyone is surprised when they find out I’m a 4 cause my wing is SOOO strong. But I love that engineering lets me use my logical mind and my creative mind to come up with unique solutions to the worlds problems. And yeah the withdrawing while stressed situation is extremely prevalent in my life. During the semester it’s very unlikely to find me anywhere other than my classroom, the library, or my bedroom

You know I thought I was 4w5 because I’m more introverted, but 4w3 hit a little closer to home. I’m always going on about the supposed “fanbase” or “audience” of my stories before I’ve even finished any of them. And I tend to be very extravagant and I overthink everything I do. I don’t like the enneagram test....this feels like it’s targeting me specifically and I don’t like it.

Thanks, Hillary! I just found you today & I'm enjoying binging your videos. I often hear it said that 4s are driven by a desire to be unique. From my perspective as a 4, it's much more about my need to be authentic. I may end up looking unique/weird (flashback to high school), but that's only because I need to be genuine and choose the "real" thing to do or be or wear. I know others often think, "Why does she always have to go against the crowd??". But for us, we're so uninterested in the crowd that we're not deliberately being conconformists. (But maybe that's just cuz I'm a 4w5?)

Thank you very much for this lovely video! I'm going strong on the 4w5 side of my life. Because I'm also going strong on the introversion and yes, I'm part of the "Oh, you call my lifestyle 'social distancing'? How curious!"-division. 😂 I'm very aware of my creativity and the very strong intellectual aspect of it. I'm really strong when it comes to diving into the greater picture of the human condition. Combined with being highly sensitive and spiritually perceptive, I dive into anything with ease. I mean rather literally anything. I can feel into a doorknob and feel the heat of fire and molding process of the metal in 4D quality. 🙃 Things are rather difficult on the side of work. It's straining to be "out there" regardless of my deep love of people. Or because of it. It's hard how the balance of work versus life do not quite align. I'd really not need much at all. But life is potentially expensive just by "being there" in many parts of the world. And work that allows working few days and yet earn enough to cover just that is not easily found. Especially not on a field I'd be effective at and feel OK in. Add the need for coworkers who at the very least leave me be and....... yes..... it's easier to support the cause to get the principle of unconditional basic income installed. 😅 Imagine that! Being able to thrive AND being able to creatively jump by wherever needed and getting effective without worrying about things like the transitions endangering your survival or having to get through tons of paperwork to receive or to explain the while income flow thing. I'd easily stick to the minimum and extend volunteer work without running into basic challenges like: "I have the time, skill and motivation but oops, I can't afford the bus tickets to get myself to the location of volunteering work and oops they need help and not more work added and more financial strain added by the question of how to get me from A to B." Ofcourse a lucky or gifted partner will be equally welcome (but solely for their character and if their support comes with no price tags and strains on them that make them unhappy. That won't do!) But that's a gift in life I'm granted or not. I'll never know when that'd possibly be before I reach there 😂. Is it too much to hope for a "Patterson (2016)" life? ☺️ [To be fair, I'm very very lucky and am currently living the introverted single version of it right now, in a sense.]

Although this video was short, it was enough to make me kind of want to cry. As a type 4, I've come to internalise the idea that 4 is "the worst type" to be. People who other people find difficult. Well, we may be difficult, but thank you for saying all these nice things about us. It's good to know that while we may be a bit hard to make sense of, others do see a lot of value in when they finally get through to us. A little help in loving ourselves is also good, since type 4 seems particularly prone to self-loathing. I'm defnintely the Bohemian. Now that I have some confidence, you can tell by looking at me these days, which is helpful as a warning that I don't do shallow conversations.

I do make a living from my creative work, hence why I thought I may be 4w3, but if I had it my way in a perfect world, I'd only create things that I want to create when I want to create them, and if I was the only person to ever see those things then I'd still enjoy the creative process just as much. Hey, thanks for this video. I'm new to the enneagram but it's helping me to understand myself on a much deeper level. I am super creative, that's for sure. I've spent most of my life creating for myself, not so interested in my audience but my NEED to create, constantly. I sometimes outkast myself and think I'm the outsider, focusing on the flaws I see in the world all around me, with a longing to create things that can help to make the world a better place. As I mature, I am now wanting to share my creativity with the world in a new way, wanting to teach others about what I have mastered and share my creations with others in the hope that it will inspire them to discover their own creativity as In my world this is the main thing, and the only way I have found to cope with life. I don't really care about extravagant appearance, but I like to be unique in my own subtle ways. I like to be seen as special and one of a kind, which can sometimes make me jealous of others and also competative. I do like to enjoy the finer things in life on occasion but prefer my own company and simple pleasures. I would say I'm a VERY deep person, always longing to look at things and subjects that others seem to ignore or avoid. I feel like this part of myself makes others feel uncomfortable which makes me feel alone and sad however it is this part of myself that also allows me to see things with a very unique perspective, allowing me to transform absolutely anything into a creative outcome. I transmute all of my experiences, good and bad into creativity. I like to be alone, but also enjoy company. In large groups I usually pick one person and open up to them, otherwise finding myself as the lone wolf... uncomfortable, awkward and misunderstood. I am very sure of myself but also have a shadow of self doubt, yearning for acceptance. I am very independent but long for people to understand me which usually shows up in my deep romantic relationships. I can be jealous when I think someone else can do something that I can't, but not so much bothered about material things. I sometimes feel isolated or misunderstood by others and tend to hide from the world, taking refuge in my creativity and often becoming dependent on substances to sooth my misunderstood soul. I feel like I'm loved by most, but I realise I'm very mysterious and good at shape shifting therefore others dislike me for constantly changing, and I feel like some are envious of my freedom to create. I'm for sure a complicated creative romantic. I feel like I and 4 with wing 5 but also wing 3. Introverted but also craving to be seen and understood... Even if I pretend like I don't care about others opinions, it secretly means everything to me. I just want to be loved for being me, authentically. Thanks for listening.

I am a 4w3. I don't feel very creative, but I've felt stifled for years, so maybe it'll finally shine through now that I've learned so much about being an INFJ Meyers Briggs type.

I took a test today and ended up being both 3 and 5. This makes a lot of sense for me. I need to get back to my art.

Interesting video. I strongly relate to both the five and the three wings. After watching this video now I consider myself both. Some things aren't true about me but most of both is true.

Great video, 4w5 here. 4w3 seems to be creating more for others to see while 4w5 tends to create more for themselves. Both want to be seen but theres definitely a shift in priority/expression. Art is part of the intellectual/emotional analysis for the 4w5.

Wow i always thought i was a 4w3 but I think im also in touch with 4w5 as well. I could relate to everythinggg about 4w3 (especially moodiness, creating with audience in mind) but I also sometimes withdrawal when I'm going through it, and often create for myself. I'm a painter, and I paint things that are visually appealing (for the audience) but with super subtle hidden messages that people usually only see if I explain it, and that is for me. :) so cool that these things are part of my personality!

Thanks to give that example. I thought a relationship with 2 four wouldn't stand on the long run, because each would draw the other one down. Thanks to break that belief of mine !

I’m a 4w3 and this is so accurate, although I’m a risk taker since I’m an ENTP I still value my image a lot. Sometimes I get confused cause my personality type (ENTP) and Enneagram (4w3) is contradicting each other but I am very creative... I explore a lot and want to learn a lot. I also love aesthetics so much and I indeed love being unique/original and so ambitious too. I love this sm,,

I am a 4w5 but I have few traits of the 4w3 type. I use home decor, fashion and beauty to express myself but it’s only for myself, I don’t care about others. I am extremely introverted but I also enjoy some finer things in life. Also, I feel like I am not creative enough or not talented like 4w5s should be. I hope I find my path soon
