Enneagram Types: Behind the Wheel

Комедия

By the book or breaking the rules? How each enneagram type DRIVES - our latest Enneagram Funny!
For the 1's in the room... no, we were not actually driving during this shoot. We stayed stationary in a parking lot. No rules were broken. Yes, 9's, Michelle actually honked the horn several times and people were confused. They survived.

I think it would be really cool to see you guys do a video showing each types internal monologue. It would be interesting because I think some types internal monologue is actually quite different from how they portray themselves through behaviors!

Oh my gosh, 9w8. Driving is stressful for me. Constantly weighing what decisions the people around me are going to be making. Hyperaware. Trying to be mindful of the people and where they are trying to get to. Highly annoyed at people who don't drive correctly or considerately. Yet, when I arrive at a destination, I question if I drove at all. Inner dialogue: "Who brought me here? Oh, my subconscious. Thank you for taking care of the drive. You know how terrible my Se is". I find driving a great way to release my built up anger because I can call people out on their lack of common sense and awareness, and their rudeness and stupidity, and never have them know I was mad at them or have to worry about their reactions. It is very invigorating and freeing. Lol. When someone is driving with me and they witness my behavior they are usually shocked and have to tell me to calm down. Lol.

I'm a four and I don't like to drive because I don't like being cut off from my environment. There's too much responsibility for maneuvering and storing a car that sucks away the experience of living. There is something so visceral about walking--or taking public transportation for that matter--and, bonus, it's better for the environment. Unfortunately, owning a car is kind of a necessity in most parts of the U.S. One of the things I love most about living overseas is not owning a car.

My security-focus as a 6 behind the wheel comes out almost more similar to the type 1 - like, the rules are there for SAFETY. I understand breaking other rules but why would you break a SAFETY rule?? That said, I have a strong 5-wing and 100% that was me. LOVE my car for being a roving introversion pod! Love-love-love it. Go driving just for fun all the time.

5 here. That was very accurate and hilarious. I just the other day was watching a video on right of way. I’ve also looked up how traffic happens and now actively drive in a way that will help drivers 5 mins behind me have slightly less traffic hahha Only thing that I couldn’t relate to was getting there 30 mins early.

OMG you ladies are the BEST!!! This is hilarious! As a 3 w2 I can kind of relate to your depiction of the 3 (and it's super funny!) - but I have a hard time relating to the emphasis on material status symbols. I wonder if it's because the core motivation for my workaholism is that I want people to appreciate ME as the one that can produce amazing things, regards of what it takes? So it's less about the material trappings of my hard work, and more about my specialness in being the one that can produce more/better than anyone else. The other piece of the 3 (at least for me) is that the condition of whatever material things I do own means a lot to me - only as it reflects on me. So for example, I would never in a million years let someone in my car if it weren't totally clean and nice - but it doesn't have to be completely perfect if it's just me. I couldn't bear the shame associated with having someone think less of me if my car were dirty. Same thing with my house. It doesn't have to be perfect when it's just me there - but if I am having people over, you've got to know that I am ironing napkins and putting fresh flowers out and cleaning like a banshee... because my house is a reflection of me. And I couldn't handle it if people saw the "real" me (I hope that makes sense!). This isn't in any way meant to diminish any of what you do for the 3's... I totally get that there are 3's out there that may be super materialistically focused... just wanted to give you another angle into the mind of a 3 (scary place to be sometimes!). :-)

I'm a 9w7 but I always relate so much to the 7! I've yet to learn how to drive so I don't how I'll be behind the wheel, but I felt in my soul that "every trip is a road trip, so pack accordingly!!!" YES every time I get on the car, even for an hour long drive, I gotta bring my backpack that contains: 1. At least one snack, 2. My Nintendo DS, 3. Sketchbook and markers, 4. A book even tho I always get dizzy if trying to read while moving, and finally 5. New music on my phone or on a CD in case my phone runs out of battery, yup, I can't be bored for one second, it kills me.

Only the types next to us are our wings. There is a tritype theory which states that everyone has a dominant type in each center: Head (5,6,7), Heart (2,3,4), and Instinctive (8,9,1); each of which will have a profound impact on our personality.

You actually can't be a 9w7. Wings can only be the two numbers on either side of your number. As a 9, your possible wings are 8 and 1. Your wing isn't necessarily the second highest type you relate to. I'm a 9w1, but I highly relate to the 2, so much sometimes that I question whether I might be a 2 instead of a 9. As the other person explained, there is a tritype theory, and I definitely have 2 in my tritype, but 2 cannot be my wing, because it is not adjacent to 9.
