I love that 9's are drawn to 7's when we're SOOOO different 😂 almost 3 years strong with my 7 bf and I still can't imagine it any other way, even through all of the drastic dream career changes 🙄💀

When the 9 said "he got us a day of paintball," I was like *yooooo that's the coolest Valentine's Day ever!!!!* Then she said "he's such a freaking 7, you guys" and I felt very exposed hahaha

I'm a 1 and my mom literally got me a decorative angel and Christmas decorations...nothing of which I asked for or is my style. I felt like a jerk returning them but now I feel so understood.

I am a type 4w5 - oh the number of times I've said "It's like you don't even know me." And "I just want some time to myself to read a book" 😂 SPOT ON. Practical gifts and big vacations aren't a big hit with people like me. Unless it is a thoughtful gift or one where I get to be in my pajamas, away from the parties. Quiet-time is a gift too, you know. 😂

I'm the one who made the 8 the jigsaw with a poem on the back XD my mom's an 8 and I'm a 4, and the "don't get creative. Don't try to be clever or cute. Just get me what I want and do what I say and there won't be any problems" is something I am ALL TOO FAMILIAR WITH

I'm a 9w1, but I'm feeling that 8 wing in this vid! Every year, I just ask for gift cards - I rarely actually like what people get me, I would just rather pick out the things I want myself!

As an 8 I’ve actually told everyone in my family to write a wishlist and hang it on the wall then scratch off whatever someone has already got them.(So that when any special occasions come it’s easy.😂)

I just discovered this channel, and I'm always blown away by Leeann's acting ability! The emotional moments always crack me up.

I love how I stay cooped up in my room creating and learning new projects any other time of year and my parents are disappointed that I’m “being antisocial” “why do you need to know how to do these anyway when will it be useful” “wasting time on stupid little arts and crafts” but as soon as winter rolls around they do a 180 and it’s like “that’s a good idea making presents instead of buying!” “wow you MADE this? That’s so cool!” For crying out loud which is it Tony are you happy with your gift or bitter that I had to take time to actually learn how to make it in the first place. What the hell did you think I was doing all that time? Damn.

I’m a type 5w4 and my dad is 7w8(?) so it’s fucking l o v e l y having my stress and growth type wrapped into one person. Can’t live with him can’t live without him but holy hell the guy is draining to be around sometimes. And then I think my mom is a 2w1 which, just like my dad, has the stress and growth types but this time for the four wing. Anyway November is coming and the cycle will continue so pray for me :’ )

As a 5 the best present is anything I can do by myself in a quiet place with as minimal amount of people there as possible.

"Truly terrifying lotion" - HA! Loved this. So good to see people doing non-threatening yet still useful things with the Enneagram.

I'm a 5 and I usually ask for a couple specific things and then end up with a bunch of excess stuff that sits on shelves for a year before I finally give them away.

#4 I have said those exact things! Gifts is my top love language because a good gift shows me that the person giving that gift really knows me. The first Christmas my now husband and I were together for, he gave me a tire pressure gage and a hair towel.(He's a 1) I hid it at the time but later I cried because it was such a terrible gift - SO PRACTICAL! He has gotten much better over the 5 year years we have been together but I have definitely had to explain that for me, a gift should be something he knows I will like that is not something overly practical. I have always loved gifts that are lovingly wrapped - gift bags are lazy! I love a pretty package. Also- any other 4's hate gift cards?

Honestly I'm an eight and this was pretty true, I don't appreciate sentiment I just want something I'll use.

Ya, I was probably there too. We stayed there the longest. Reading. Avoiding each other. Unless your book had a title of interest. I’m reading about WRENS in WW2 who played strategy games and discovered that U boats infiltrated convoys sinking merchantmen from within the formation. But you’ve probably read that one already. OOF as a fellow 5, I feel this. My family mostly does money & gift cards, but they also LOVE gag gifts. The past few years I've been embracing minimalism more & more so I tried to donate this year's batch & my mom insisted she keep everything to not hurt anyone's feelings 🤦

OH. So when 5s say you don't have to get them anything... They actually truly don't want a gift? :o My dad's a 5 and would say he didn't want anything... I just assumed he meant anything in particular. As a kid I would always go out of my way to give thoughtful, unique gifts to each of my parents and siblings, but as I grew up I realized my parents didn't really like my presents. (My 8 mom threw them in the trash; my 5 dad stuffed them deep in a closet never to be used). I adjusted to get them more practical things, but it never felt like it MEANT anything if there wasn't something special about it, a personal touch to show I care and understand something important about them. Of course, 5s and 8s usually aren't the type to want people to showcase how deeply they know them... So their gifts to me left me disappointed too, thinking they didn't care enough to pick something that reflected who I am and what I like. Interesting to see that multiple 5s share the sentiment of not wanting gifts. I just thought it was him wanting to seem like he didn't need anything to assert his self-sufficiency. Duly noted! @@quinintheclouds Gifts usually aren't many 5s love language and it can be difficult for those who have different love languages such as gifts to feel appreciated both giving and receiving. I know my husband has felt that over the years although I have learned to try and value the gifts he gives. I really have tried because I know that's his love language. If you wish to give a gift, particularly for holidays or occasions ask specifically if they would like anything and listen because they will tell you if they truly want anything material and get exactly that. If they say nothing, ask if they would like to go to an event, for dinner or see an exhibit, even a trip. Often experiences are much more welcome, at least they are for me. I am not much for obligations or traditions tbh. I have a hard time getting worked up for obligatory gift giving. I suspect many other 5s are the same. I appreciate so much more, time and thoughtful experiences that are freely given and not attached to such things.

Oh and it's okay if it's not a surprise and if you ask before Christmas or birthdays. I'm not picky about things being a surprise. In fact, rather the opposite. I know it's not fun for some people but truly we just like it straightforward and easy for everybody.

quinintheclouds If a 5 tells you something, they mean it. And we get horribly confused when somebody else says something they DON’T mean! How could we know? Are we supposed to read their inner feelings or something? If somebody actually hears what I say, that’s the greatest gift of all!

Best gifts are quiet time in a beautiful place, or family time doing something non-confrontational (paintball sounds like a nightmare, but family game night...excluding monopoly of course, is at the top of my list). Loving all of your videos!

The tongue in the cheek of the six when she talks about the shark swim-brilliantly, subtly played. I’m a practical gift loving five and my ex MIL used to give me a stocking full of crap. For the same price I could have had a box of laundry detergent and toilet paper which is what I really wanted. I always appreciated the thought though.

Was watching thinking "Ok these may not be my favourite gift but why make a big deal about it?" Until it came to my number. As a six, my thought was "If your husband is making you go swim with sharks get on the phone with a *divorce lawyer*!!!"

8 here! All I wanted was a kitchen drawer organizer, maybe a juicer or kitchenaid. I said this multiple times and sent out an email. Got a poster and a beaded tiny purse necklace. My Fiance and I dont get each other anything.. Hes a 5. Kids got INDOOR SWINGS AND POGO STICKS. Its been fun.

Last year my husband surprised me... With the freaking POTS AND PANS I have been dreaming about. I was so proud. He gets me.

I just subscribed. I thought I did earlier because I look for your videos. I’m an 8 and my girl is a 4 so I always pay special attention when you do those. I love it when you do the 8s. The world would indeed be a better place if they would just do what I tell them. Why can’t they get that? Your 8 made me laugh out loud and I had to go back and play it again. Thanks!

I’m a 7, every Christmas just makes me feel like no one actually knows me lol. I get socks, hair ties, horrible cheap fragrance sets, and things like that haha. I honestly would rather not have any gift. I just want people to come visit me and hang out 😂

I'm a Six, and I got the shark part, not the second part. I much more resonated with the 8 (at least about wanting people to just get me what's on my list, not so much the "practical stuff" part). Funny how we can be very strongly our own number, but also still have bits of other parts in our personalities.

I’m a 5 and I suspect that my best friend is a 9. We have the same hobby and so often want the exact same new book, etc. What we’ve done in recent years is go to the store together, each buy a copy, and then hand our copies to each other saying “MERRY CHRISTMAS!”. Then we often go back to my place to quietly look them over while occasionally breaking the silence to comment like “ooh, have you seen chapter 4 yet? I quite like that idea”. It seems very silly to a lot of people but it works for us because it is a chance for a quiet 1-on-1 day out to the hobby store, we both get the book we want, and it’s no stress. One of the gift things I hate are all of those awful “white elephant”/“yankee swap”/“dirty Santa” games. I used to date someone whose family was obsessed with those games and it put me off wanting to go to their family events. To me, it is just too chaotic and stressful.

Double ear infection from my kids... Shout out to Pigeon Forge Urgent Care! This is actually the first year in years that I received anything... I bitched all year long! After making a huge deal that I'd better get something of years of nothing, I got AirPods (with my own gift card), some makeup remover wipes, and a backpack! All 3 were on my list :D

I'm a 5w6 and I hate presents because it means theres a slight expectation that I would get that person something back which is never on my "stay at home and do nothing" schedule

As a 4 I appreciate every gift. If I ever was upset about anything it would be deep backstabbing hurtful pain I let build up for many many years and I usually keep it to myself

I'm a 7 and am really related to the 8 more here with my hard 8 wing. Am I like the only 7, minimalist in existence? Like, I hate deviations from my list, unless, you know, it's like a Gucci bag. haha (my tritype is 7, 3, 8) :D
