Van Gaal was correct. The media had every right to criticize the team and the performances because we hadn't been getting results but to make up stories about his sacking was disrespectful.

British press ignore any potential long-term thoughts and opinions. It is entirely reactionary. You could win 10 on the bounce, then lose 1 and it is 'JOB UNDER THREAT'. Spanish press, by contrast, ask VERY tactical questions. E.g. 'We could all see it wasn't working with Benzema up top today, why did you wait until.the 80th minute to bring him off and even then, replace with a midfielder, when it was still a draw?'. Very stressful in Spain, very lowbrow in Britain.

he needs time ;) Players tend to love him when he gets a few years with them. He's running the Dutch national team now - press conferences are back! (for us - in Dutch). He's a bit more mellow now, but only slightly. Perhaps relaxed is a better word - he did retire after all and was living in Portugal. Football beckoned - and he once again raised the confidence of many players. And had short term results, against all odds - though we are definitely not there yet. Again, like with MU, he's given only little time to do what he does best... Creating an unbreakable teamspirit - especially for newcomers and young men (under 30). He's a brutally honest but very perceptive man, often misunderstood and always in a bitter fight with the (sensationalist) press ;)
I love LVG and his work with very young players. Man is an absolute legend for his work at ajax, barca and then bayern. 15+ years of continuous success.

It came out that it was Mourinho's camp leaking stories. The press pounced on the rumors because it sold papers and registered clicks on their websites/social media. The fact that LVG won the FA Cup and finished level on points with City despite the constant rumors of his imminent sacking is something is amazing.

There premier league hasn’t been as good since he left, all the managers are boring. Roy Keane on sky is the only entertainment.
I think he has been the best United manager so far during the post-SAF era.
I am a die hard MU fan. Fans in the UK that don't stand by the leadership and club when there are performance troughs are unworthy and ungrateful. You short change the potential of the club to actually pick itself up and achieve greater things. The modern MUFC fan has been spoiled. As for the press in the UK by and large, no words.
I miss this mad old scrote.
We deserved to see more of Louis in English football. Went to Man U at the wrong time, no one could fight against the inevitable decline. Deserved better.
Can always support the cause by avoiding clickbait articles online or buying newspapers. Media has long since lost its ways.
He is really sad in this interview.
He was mugged off by the players and some just weren't good enough end of. Nobody can say he shouldn't have signed di maria. He won player of the season for Real that year in a team that won the CL and also had Ronaldo with 50 odd goals in it. That means your ok at football. Didn't work out at utd sadly but a brilliant player 👏
He saw the media for what it was and was going to be.
Stories of his sacking weren't made up. HE SAID HIMSELF afterwards that he saw jose at the cup final, the club had decided to replace him no matter what (similar to liverpool with dalglish). As is normal, the media often get wind of these stories before they happen, and they reported it.

How the journalists reacted to Van gaals walk out shows the levels of principles they possess
goat at pressers
while it is true that he isn't the best man for the job, but that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate his work as a Man United fan. Under his time, I like what he did with the youth, there were so many youngsters brought up by him, and he did attract big names and youth prospects to come to us. In short, he was pulling us to the right direction, but unfortunately he was not pulling fast enough to convince the board of directors to keep him. how the board of directors let him go in the end was a disgrace, the man got us the first FA cup since Sir Alex, yet they just sacked him days after he won the title.

I liked LVG but this was at a point where United were just getting worse and worse by the day. 2 wins in the last 8, scraping past Watford with a 90th minute own goal, played poor football, we'd just lost back to back games against Bournemouth and bloody Norwich. The media were speculating that his time was probably up there, especially after getting knocked out of the champions league after drawing the single easiest group in the competition's history. On a side note, we lost that game against Stoke he talked about, 2-0. Things were not going well for United at that point. The media have the right to criticise.
And the mince PIE!
I will say this about van gaal, he leaves the club in a better state. Look at Man U, he got them martial and Rashford who are key members of the first team.
Expecting class and respect from the English media is absolutely ridiculous!!! By far the worst media in the free world!!

LVG would have won the premiere league if he had 4 transfer windows, but obviously united were more interested in commercial business.
