I had to stop and think there. Did he say aspects or experts?, both sounded very much alike and both fit the sentence as well. I also had to think whether he said fans or friends.

I sometimes wonder had van gaal had another year or two would things have improved? I think he's a genius really but damn wasn't the football dreadful under him unfortunately 😢

We won the FA Cup in his last season. If there was one man who needed an extra season in football, I would say Van Gaal. A likable eccentric character. My only criticism, he tried to adopt clever tactics, but the united team at the time wasn't clever enough to understand them, especially the unorthodox 4-2-3-1 system.

@@Aerojet01 have to 100% agree with you mate. I remember his first premier league match he had Lingaard at wing back ha! He definitely was too advanced for that team at the time. Its a shame really because he was a very likable guy.

Respect your opinion but I just played fifa 16 with Man United squad and wow that squad was god awful. After seeing the players he bought and sold im glad he was sacked. One good player he bought was martial and that's it. I don't even need to talk about style of play

Not a popular view but I think we made a mistake getting rid of Van Gaal. Both Martial and Rashford would have been much closer to their full potential, we've missed out on the development Fosu Mensah and Shaw wouldn't have suffered the crisis of confidence that he had under Mourinho. Van Gaal also had the persona to manage Manchester United.

@@sugamgautam4318 Slagging of Daley Blind, you do not know football. Daley Blind is the best signing Van Gaal made. A proper footballer, very similar to Bobby Moore- incredibly intelligent. He wasn't blessed with pace, but he was two steps ahead of everyone mentally. When he faced Lukaku, Kane, Aguero etc. as a CB, he never got done by any of them. The only person he got done by was De Bruyne, at OT, when he poked it past him and left him for dead. Blind was brilliant and as someone that sits in Old Trafford week in, week out, I could not understand any fans who aren't lucky enough to go to games, that could not see how good he was. Unfortunately, he wasn't a 6ft3 shithouse, so Jose wasn't interested in the long run.

LVG was good with young players but his ego was not suited to the club and his spending was all over the place. A Galactico project one window, under recruitment in the following. Decent tactically but too rigid for Man United.

@@degeus6917 the Dutch press are so obsessed with 4-3-3 but how many World Cups have the Netherlands won with 4-3-3? They were entertaining in Euro 2020 with 5-3-2 so like LVG said you can still be attacking regardless of formation or tactics. I look forward to seeing the Dutch in the next World Cup.

He can sweep North West derby but struggled against smaller teams

Van Gaals record against pur rivals was great which kept fans happy for a week until we lost or drew against lower league sides, maybe if Jose was still in a job, LVG would have stayed on, but United needed some league success and Jose could and maybe should have got us had it not been for Peps city team

not Moyes. The transfer window was poorly planned (ie panicking to sign Fellaini at the last moment after his release clause expired). There was an attempt to sign youngsters but unfortunately Janko and Varela ended up not developing as much as what was expected. Moyes could of worked but he failed to adapt his tactics to the strengths of his side and instead implemented a different system relying on crossing Van Gaal on the other hand played a possession hungry game but was too fixed with that approach at the point where the players were questioning it. The premier league has evolved to be more physical than ever, where possession hungry football can be countered easily or broken down if poorly implemented and visioned. Van Gaal had a clearer idea and perhaps could of led to success with a few more years on the job. His signings were decent with the idea of Blind being able to play the ball on the floor to a quality standard but his physicality, limited him (same as Schweinsteiger). Signings such as Herrera also fit into his model. Could of payed off with loads of squad rebuilding but it didnt fit into the Manchester United vision

Hes back and better then ever atm😂 y’all might take a look at his press conferences with the Dutch national squad. He Hasn’t changed a bit, it’s entertainment at its peak.

A manager who loved to develop youth, he gave youth an opportunity and if they took their opportunity he would hand them more. Should have never of sacked him for Jose, Jose was never suitable for the job. Would of loved to have seen that young squad he built develop

@@rajyt4888 Damn right you are. And people who watched football before 2015 know that lucked out with getting the greatest Ajax squad of all time early in his career. And since then he just got less and less successful and by the time he had arrived at United he was well and truly a has-been.

I was extremely satisfied with Louis, he had the exact fear factor players at a club like Manchester United needed forced into them. Now look, a bunch of Madonna's running around thinking their amazing cause they wear the shirt, and get paid ridiculous amounts that exceed even Manchester City's wage bill.

I,m Dutch and rather good at english. Even I don't understand a word he's saying. I know he's a good footballcoach(don't ask me why. I don't know anything about football). But,like someone said before me,he would be a fantastic comedian. Only in english of course! As much as I hate football,I love this man!

I know lvg many years , I am from holland that guy is a real genius with football tactics . Makes young players a better player . But as a person ? Pfffffffff..... dictator . 1995 with Ajax he had one of the best teams in the history of the champions league and won it . Team existed with maybe 3 guys that was 30+ of age , the rest young guys and they al had a big career afterwords . My opinion a good coach with young players but with elderly players different story . And always had problems with South American players .

Lol what are you talking about? Coaching Holland back in 2014: mostly old players like Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben, Dirk Kuijt, Wesley Sneijder becoming third at the tournament after losing after penalties against Argentina. Also at Bayern the team had quite some older players like Arjen Robben, Mark van Bommel, Franck Ribery. Idk which South American players you're talking about though.

meh. If anything you either love or hate van Gaal. There's not much in between, he's very outspoken and though he gives players a lot of room, he has a certain set of principles, he doesn't deviate from them, never. His book of rules, so to say. I suppose a part of that mentality doesn't work out for certain South American players, but I don't think that is based on race. Louis is fair - always has been. The thing which really sets him apart, is that he tries to fight off (what he considers to be) stupid questions. It's too bad his English is mangled as it is, the man can express himself quite well in Dutch... Always a pleasure to watch him talk about football.
