@ Anna Marie Nicely said. I would only add that although he didn't 'write" music, it's important to stress that he was a Producer and Arranger. Many people falsely claim "songwriting" as the ultimate measure of musical Talent ... which is nonsense, but unfortunately it's one of the reasons so many people use that as a strike against Elvis. But people within the music industry from Elvis era point out that he was one of the most underrated producers and arrangers in music history. And most definitely was a legitimate composer. He's the one that usually changed the arrangement, or key changes, by sitting down at the piano or drum set, or picking up the guitar, and showing his fellow musicians in the studio the musical sound he was wanting for the song. Even had instruments moved around the studio sometimes to help get a different sound or have the lights changed in the studio to help set the mood for each individual song. Dude was incredibly brilliant, yet humble about it. He lacked any pretentiousness so he never publicly promoted himself in this way. Just sharing in case you didn't know. We fans have to be up in this stuff so when people try to discredit Elvis we can put them back in check. If curious for more info you can google "Bones Howe talks Elvis in studio" . He's one of the music industry recording legends that talked about this.

sixstring v you put it much nicer and more eloquently then i would have. It's great that John liked Elvis ... but so what, the whole world liked Elvis.. and many accolades aa Elvis has gotten for his work he is still the most underrated performer of all time..

Elvis could play the piano. But imagine wasn't the song he was playing here. There are actually no records of him ever playing this song. But for sure that's not what he was playing in this video

+Mark Harris. If you had clicked on "more" the OP said it was fake. Just a fantasy could have been song if Elvis had had the opportunity to play and record it. He very well may have at some point, but didn't to my knowledge. As far as Elvis not knowing how to play piano, he was actually a better pianist than guitar player. Look for "That's How The Web Was Woven" from the concert movie, That's The Way It Is, and see if you still stand by your words. In some of Elvis' last concerts, he admitted he only knew 3 chords on guitar and he'd faked them off for a long time ( I think he was being modest, watch the sit down acoustic part of 68 Comeback Special and his guitar skills seem far more advanced. But rock n roll is basically just 3 chords anyway. As for Johnny you take one concert to speak for his whole career? Try watching some of the episodes from the Johnny Cash show that appeared for years on tv, and say he doesn't know how to play guitar. Multiple musicians make millions and some cases, billions of dollars and have no formal musical training at all. Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers is or was starting classes at UC Berkley for a music degree, even after the millions of dollars he's made and awards won. So please get off your high horse regarding artists not knowing how to play instruments. They must have been doing something right.

Elvis was only joking when he said he only knew three chords. He was a fine guitar player, not the best not the worst but if you think he only knew how to play three chords then you have not watched him much.

Elvis could play piano too it's just he prefers singing and playing guitar in his home movies he enjoys playing piano. He plays more piano than we think he does. Very talented

He certainly could, and did. He loved the piano and played at home all the time. Sometimes in the studio. Just like with the guitar, he played HARD, using a lot of chording and slamming the devil out of the instrument. He nonetheless sounded quite good! By the early '70s, he handled it with more sensitivity as evidenced by the three gorgeous solo "piano ballads" in 1971. Check 'em out. They are much better without the overdubs on the original releases. Elvis had absolutely NO instruction on the instrument; he was entirely self-taught. He apparently used the piano in the music room in school when it was not in official use. On leaving high school, he bought an old used upright on layaway. He just had to get a piano even when they couldn't afford it.

This video is fake, Elvis didn’t play ”imagine”. The clip is taken from the documentary ”Elvis - That’s the way it is” and he did NOT play this song! They have stolen the film material to make this fake clip to get likes. But I recommend you watch the documentary, from 1970, if you like Elvis! I will report this fake video 🚩

Yes this is faked but I disagree with the comment that Elvis played little piano, he was great listen to Unchained Melody from 1977 he was able to play the guitar, piano and bass guitar all from ear no ability to read music!!!

Elvis was playing the piano, just not this song. Someone has changed the audio! There is a clip on KZread of him actually playing the piano and no, he's not as good as this sounds, but he was just fooling around backstage after a rehearsal for a concert. He wasn't trying to impress anyone.
