True. When I was a kid growing up. My dad played elvis all the time so for me I didn't like elvis at all. But got to say what didn't help was my dad singing along with it. But after left home, I had not heard elvis in a while. But when I actually listened to it (without my dads dodgy singing) I very quickly began to appreciate how great Elvis's voice actually was. One of the best voices we ever had, as well as Freddie Mercury.

I really like those crossover ones. Imitation is one thing, but impersonation is this one step further which requires much more effort and shows the true ability of the performer. Have you tried matching current indie hits with classic performers? It's worth a shot because few people are able to pull that off.

That's pretty awesome, considering how much John Lennon and the other Beatles respected Elvis. John would wear that Elvis pin also later on in interviews to show some love.

Well to be fair, John Lennon wrote the song in HIS mansion and was probably driven to the recording studio in his Rolls Royce, so the word "Imagine" should be taken quite literally.

I get the feeling he was envious of songwriters like Lennon, that was the one area where he had as much talent as me 😂

Ewan Kerr, Bullshit. Elvis drifted for a bit creatively in the mid 60s cos of those 3 x $1 million movies per year, but he came back very strongly from 1968 until his death. The Beatles by that time had already started to split.
