Dutch oven Crusty Bread
This bread is easy & delicious!
3 Cups Bread Flour
1 Tsp. Active Dry Yeast
1 1/2 Tsp. Salt
1 1/2 Cups warm water
Whisk flour, yeast and salt in a 3-4 quart bowl with a tight fitting lid. I like to use my trusty Tupperware. If you don't have a bowl w/lid use plastic wrap on a bowl. Add the water and stir with a wooden spoon until the dough is mixed well. The dough will be quite sticky and shaggy looking, but that's OK. Cover the bowl and set aside for 12-18 hours,(up to 24) overnight is fine.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place a cast iron Dutch oven with the lid into the oven while preheating and heat the pot/lid for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, scrape the risen dough from the bowl onto a heavily floured surface. (Dough will still be very sticky.) With floured hands, gently shape the dough into a round loaf, making sure there's enough flour on the surface so dough doesn't stick. let the dough just sit there until you're pot is preheated.
Take the hot pot from the oven and gently place the dough into the pot. Cover with the lid and return to the oven and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the lid at that time and return the pot to the oven for another 10-15 minutes. Gently shake the loaf onto a cooling rack and enjoy the beautiful aroma. Give it a chance to cool before cutting into loaf.

I watched this video yesterday and made the bread dough. I let it rise overnight and baked it when I got up. It tastes delicious! I love how crunchy it is. You were correct, it was the easiest bread I've ever made. Thanks for sharing!

Ok Val. ....another great recipe. I got a totally cast iron dutch oven for Christmas. Wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.....made the dough and cooked the bread the next morning. Hubby was like Sweet Hunter and chopped the end off and ate it with butter when it was warm. He now says we never need to buy bread again..... I will definitely make it again.....thanks again...boy...so glad I found your channel and really glad sweet Hunter is feeling a little better. So much going around especially holiday season when people gather......can't wait to see what's next!

Awe. Thank you! We love the bread because it’s basically an easy no fail bread. I’m glad you made it. Yes. SH has lots of tests coming up. Thanks for the prayers.

Oh Val... the only reason I am messaging again I'd that you said to let you know how it goes. Well I will tell you... hahaha...I hope that you feel really good about sharing this recipe because my Portuguese hubby of 35 years told me that bread was like his grandma in Portugal used to make...so tonight he says to me...can you set up another loaf for baking tomorrow morning.....how can I refuse. ....thanks again and we will keep our fingers and toes...and ...well not eyes... crossed for Hunter that his tests have a good outcome....🙏🥖🍞

Hi Val, I have made this bread also but using regular flour. It's called "miracle bread" but I would like to try your recipe using bread flour. Your loaf looks very delicious. Btw, I know your birthday is around this time. I hope you had or will have a wonderful, blessed happy day. January babies are supposed to have leadership qualities and charming personalities. You fit the bill, you lead me to wonderful recipes and your charm keeps me (and others) coming back! You also lead others to Christ's love. Have a very, very Happy Birthday. ❤🎈🎈🎈🎈🥳🎂🎉 your forever friend, Sandy 😊

Awe! Thank you! My birthday was this month. You are so kind. Question. Regular flour? Are you talking all purpose flour? I’ve used it too. If you are talking about self rising flour, I’d love to try that!!!!!!

@@ourforeverfarm yes, sorry I mean all purpose flour. The recipe is called "miracle no knead bread" and it calls for all purpose flour, yeast, salt and water. Although, it does mention you can use bread flour. All I had on hand was all purpose flour but, heck, why not try it with self rising flour? I think you may still need the yeast, salt and water but who knows how big this loaf of bread would be? 🍞 I say worth a try. Oh, I'm a January baby too. So much to celebrate! 🤗😊🤠

Looks good, can that dough be split in half n put in bread loaf pans to bake it as a loaf of bread?, I'm looking to start making my own bread, or do you possibly have a simple bread recipe also, or is this sufficient. Thx for responding back

In your written recipe it calls for 1 Tsp of active dry yeast but in the video you added 2 Tsp. Which should it be? Thank you.
