You will get better texture and a little more flavor if you take the time to make the cream into butter and buttermilk, although you would need to supplement with more buttermilk. Also, if you only have AP flour, add a few tsp of baking powder and 1/2 tsp or so of baking soda. Key is to cut the butter in super cold so it doesn't melt and mix too much into the biscuit dough. A little salt, a tsp or so also helps flavor. Also, when cutting out your biscuits, try to use something thin and sharp enough that you can push straight down and not twist. Will have more consistent rise and better texture at the edges because twisting seals the edges. Don't be afraid to play around with it. Hard to get something that is completely inedible. Even biscuits that don't rise as much or are dryer than intended can be used. Boil or crockpot some bone in chicken, separate, use the broth and a little corn starch to make chicken gravy, then either pour over the biscuits or toss chicken/gravy/biscuits together and simmer for a few to soften them. Once you have your biscuits down, take a couple pounds of breakfast sausage and a large white onion diced small and cook that in a large skillet. Don't drain (if the sausage you get is too lean, add butter, up to a stick), add AP flour in a little at a time till all the grease/butter is absorbed. Continue cooking for a few minutes on medium, then add milk (slowly, stirring constantly till enough is added), salt, and pepper (seasoning to taste). It will need to be loose at first, the liquid part being a little looser than yogurt. Cook until hot and just a little looser than your desired consistency for gravy, stirring frequently. It will thicken as it sits while you are serving. Couple that with the butter/buttermilk biscuits and you will have anyone obsessed with your cooking. It's all trial and error, just have to get in the kitchen and have an open mindset. Calmly and confidently try things out, record everything you make and what went right or wrong so you can adjust for next time.

I just learned this, this week, it finally makes sense to me and I put two and two together. If you’re trying to make biscuits and most ask for flour, grease/butter, and buttermilk. One has to remember that there are two things that evolve from Whipping Cream when you churn or beat it: butter and buttermilk. So remember, when you use whipping cream with your flour, it’s like using buttermilk, butter with your flour. Hence why it works so well I suppose. So far, I’ve tried self rising flour versus the regular flour. At this point, I preferred the self rising flour but I will keep on tweaking it to ensure that in a bind, I can use either or and it would taste the same. My grocery store only sells a little wee 2.5 pound bag of self rising, which is very little and I’m always out of it. Will have to check in a different store soon. Thank you!

I’ve made these biscuits many times now and let me tell you- they are INCREDIBLE. For anyone who is looking for an honest review from someone who has tried these, I can honestly say these are so delicious. I usually make homemade buttermilk biscuits from scratch and you can hardly tell the difference with these. When I have the time and feel like going the extra mile, I’ll do the buttermilk ones, but these two ingredients biscuits are great, company always loves them, and no one will be able to tell how quick and easy they are when they come out hot from the oven, slathered with butter and grape jelly (my favorite way to eat them) 🤤🙏🏻 I hope everyone tries these!

My mom was a wonderful cook but she worked full time as the private secretary to the Vice- President of Public Relations at Bell Helicopter in Ft. Worth so, bless her heart, she didn’t have time to do a lot of home cooking for breakfast…she did on the weekends though. I have always cooked from scratch for my 7 children and my husband. I can honestly say, in the South, most girls are taught to cook. I found my friends from the North weren’t taught unless the family owed a restaurant or they were the exception to the rule. They were always amazed how we could walk into a kitchen and put a delicious meal on the table when they thought there was nothing to make. I used to hear that often. I think it was our Mother’s way of teaching us survival and not to be wasteful which was learned and passed down through generations. It’s served me well over my lifetime. When times are tight we always seem to eat well. Thank you for your compliment. I love this channel. She’s amazing! A true Southern Cook. There’s always more to be learned. 🇺🇸❤🙏

Oh my…you brought tears to my eyes with the jar biscuit cutter, my Mom used a old can of baking powder cut out on both ends.🥹😢 Out of everything I learned to cook like her, I could not get the biscuits right. There was no real recipe, Mom would just put the ingredients in the bowl & mashed with her fingers until the dough was formed & they always tasted the same, soft, fluffy & warm (like her)🥹. I can’t wait to try your recipe, the last time I made home biscuits my sons took them outside & played baseball with them, the biscuits didn’t break.🤣🤣 We still laugh about that 20+ years later. I thank you for sharing your recipe that seems like a fail-safe, I hope I do you & Mommy proud.🌷

When I initially came across this video for homemade biscuits saying that it only required 2 ingredients--I was skeptical. Then when Val gave an introduction with "Hey Ya'll"..., she grabbed my attention with her charm and friendliness. I went to the grocery store this morning, bought the two ingredients (I never used heavy whipping cream or self-rising flour before) and made them when I got home. Oh, my gosh! The biscuits turned out wonderfully--light, soft, fluffy, and most of all delicious! When I was 13, I tried making biscuits and they came out like a hard hockey puck and since that time, I had been reluctant and intimidated of trying to make them again. These biscuits are the best I have ever tasted--even better than Flying Biscuits. Thank you for sharing this video--truly amazing!

The secret to bacon is to bake it. After doing this the first time I will never fry it again. Lay your bacon in a row on aluminum foil and bake at 350 till desired crispness. every slice will come out identical and it will not curl and the grease will not splatter.
