    Wow flashbacks to 2 days ago when I did my cbt. The low speed wobble, unsure how to come to a stop at junctions etc without looking like a wally, yet totally at ease once the bike was rolling. Have got 30+ years driving experience so I guess I’ll iron out all the little fumbles overtime but hitting 50 soon and this is without doubt the best thing I’ve done.

    The Joebaxi I think driving for so long makes it take a little longer to retrain your brain for how different it is to ride a bike. I was the same, over 20 years of driving before finally deciding to go for it. Take it easy and have fun, just be aware of everything around you at all times 👍

    you need to grip the tank with your knees it makes the bike more stable, look up as far ahead as you can see, the bike wants to go where you're looking, don't be afraid to slip that clutch when riding slow, drag the rear brake it will help with the stability at slow speed.

    lol, I was a little nervous at the beginning, my main issue on the bike was not relaxing. They should talk to new riders about this so that they know they need to relax, as it really does make it much harder to ride when you tense up/hold on to tight. At the start of part 2, I was so used to going slow in the school playground that I went up the road at like 8mph lol. I did not even realise until the instructor pointed it out. I was not nervous of being on the road, I had been driving for a very long time before I finally decided to do this. I noticed after a bit how tense I was and took a deep breath relaxed and it felt much better, more in control of the bike. Good luck and try your best to stay relaxed if you are doing yours soon. Also I have got my first ride on a big bike MT-07 (my first lesson) look how easy that was (if you want) because I was ready and relaxed, I've now got a 650cc bike, my first ride of that is on here and that was almost a year after passing my A license..

    Taking my CBT with tinklers in a weeks time! I did my taster today with Richard who was amazing. Got to 3rd gear in the yard. Do you have any advice regarding the last element?

  • @HalfdeadRider

    @HalfdeadRider

    4 жыл бұрын

    I can't remember witch one was Richard now as it was over three years back, the tall one I was with on the road? Once you go out don't forget you can go a bit faster now, I was going 8mph up the road due to being used to going so slow in the playground lol. If you are not used to being out on the road they might get you to follow someone who is, but you will be fine either way. The main advice that I feel helps the best is to keep taking deep breaths to keep your nerves to a minimum and relax as much as you can. Keeping as relaxed as possible really helps, it's harder to ride when you are as stiff as a board. Hold the tank with your legs, keep your arms relaxed and a light grip on the bars, balls of your feet on the pegs only moving to change gear or use the rear brake as you stop. These are things they should tell you but usually don't for some reason, it can change the feel and your confidence massively if you suffer with nerves. I hope this helps, enjoy yourself and you'll be fine.

    @@HalfdeadRider thanks so much mate. Really good advice! I think that guy is called Ian on the video. Richard is the guy who does the DAS course. We went to a school tennis court which was huge. Managed to change up and down the gears so much better than last time! I am 6"4 so it's really hard to keep my right leg balanced so it's not pressing the back break when I'm riding (stalled a few times cause of it). I was really calm throughout I just hope I can be as calm with 4 people together. I'm kinda nervous going on the rode though... I'm a full car licence holder but I'm just nervous haha. No problem mate, thanks for watching and commenting. Oh right you might see Richard in either my first lesson video (on the MT-07) or my Mod 1 video, as was with two for a bit as I done mine over time rather than DAS due to funds. If you stay calm you'll be fine, if you do notice at some point you are a bit tense, take a deep breath to help relax again. I'm glad you enjoy some of my content, if you want to possibly be in some one time join the group 'Nelson's County Bikers' and join us on some rides. Obviously be more in spring and summer, 125's are welcome on most if that's what you'll be riding.

    Next year in 2019, I will be turning 17 and I was thinking of doing a CBT, I was already given information about the CBT via Internet, and some information from a friend of mine who has done a CBT for a 50cc in the past but he is on a 125cc (2015 Yamaha YZF-R125) now he said "You don't need to do a 125cc CBT if you have a done a 50cc CBT" is this correct it might just depend on where you live? I live in Belfast. But my question is do you have to do a test before the actual CBT? Like learn about the warnings signs and other signals & signs on the road? I have some experience on a bike before but I only did the clutch & gas to get used to it but no going anywhere. The only problem is that I am so nervous using the clutch & gas thats all. & also another question, do you have to get your own protection gear or do they provide it for you? And the course that you have done for your CBT the same for other people? Thanks!

  • @HalfdeadRider

    @HalfdeadRider

    5 жыл бұрын

    You can do your CBT on a 50cc bike and still ride a 125cc twist and go or geared, when old enough. The CBT lasts for a year so if you do it now you might need to do it again anyway. When you can, I would do it on a geared bike if that's what you want on the road. You do need to do a theory and hazard perception test, plenty of mock tests online to practice. You will need to get in contact with your local training centre to see if they will, but most provide gear if you don't have any. If I've failed to answer fully or you have more questions then please don't hesitate to ask, good luck bud 👍

  • @HalfdeadRider

    @HalfdeadRider

    3 жыл бұрын

    When changing up it would likely be by accident, not releasing the throttle quick enough. When changing down gears, especially if the rpm's are quite high you do want to blip the throttle a little so the rpm's don't drop too far and unsettle the bike when you let the clutch out, it keeps the engine and ride smother.

    Not at all it is much easier once you try it than you think. Try and stay calm and enjoy it when it is time. They ease you into it on a playground or car park, and you practice slowly there for a few hours before going on the road, you will love it.

    I find riding a motorcycle MUCH easier than driving. Gear changing is a bit awkward, slow and jolting at first but you get used to it and eventually you’ll be changing them smoothly! It’s the weight of the bike I had the most trouble with, so be careful with that!

    I think so, me and my mates used to ride bikes on old tracks over twenty years before as kids, I just can't remember if any were geared. You'll be fine if you have not, it does not take long to get used to really, after a few hours you'll wonder what you were worried about.

    Yes you ride a 125cc on the CBT, for your A2+A1 you use an MT07 at top notch training. I have had a full A license for over a year now, my first lesson and Mod1 on the MT07 is on my channel if you want to see what it's like. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

    +Kieran Huscroft I was at an awkward angle for the left turn witch cause me to stall if I remember right, so the bike tipped over. It was at such an angle that I had no leverage to pull it up again, if I was on my own I would if had to lay it down to get off and lift it.

    it is about five or six hours maybe a bit longer in some places. You do a few hours in a playground it car park then a minimum of two hours on the road. It is well worth doing, just try and be as relaxed as possible and it will be easy. Time fly's by too.

    How do i persuade my parents in letting me take a CBT at 16 x)

  • @HalfdeadRider

    @HalfdeadRider

    6 жыл бұрын

    That's a tough one, all you can do really is try and persuade them that you will be sensible and look out around you for hazards. Or you could just do it, but that's for you to decide. That depends on background, upbringing and attitude vs respect. You could always wait, I had cars since well before you were born, before I finally started biking, apart from illegally as a kid on the local fields. Good luck though mate.

    lol I know, I was riding very slow most of it and I was really tense. I was fine at times when I relaxed. It was a lot to take in, getting used to the controls (very different to a car (driving for many years)) and hoping not to fall off :) Check out my 'new bike' video, that was when I next rode a bike after this, still getting used to it but I was much better due to being way more relaxed. Then check out my first lesson on an MT-07 rode that like I had been riding for years, passed my full A license easy not long after that :)
