Dried Beancurd Sticks in Garlic Soy Sauce (How To Rehydrate Dried Beancurd Sticks) 蒜香醬油腐竹

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Beancurd sticks are made of soybeans which are soaked, ground and then boiled in water. After being heated for a period of time, a thin skin is formed on the surface which can be skimmed off and dried into a stick or sheet. Beancurd sticks can be found in most Asian grocery stores, and they have a very long shelf life. You can store a few bags in your pantry and prepare at your convenience. The only draw back is that they may need a few hours to rehydrate. This video will show you how to rehydrate them properly and make a simple dish with garlic and soy sauce.
Ingredients:
5 oz dried beancurd sticks
Sauce:
2 tbsp cooking oil
4 large or 8 small garlic cloves (minced)
3 green onions
1/2 tsp paprika pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for hot taste)
1/4 tsp of salt
1 tbsp of soy sauce
1/2 tbsp of oyster sauce
1/2 tsp of sesame oil

I was browsing the Asian Market store by us looking for some higher protein items with low fat and no added sugars when I came across these. I work out and need more protein in my diet and these were quite high so I picked some up. Looks good and I will be giving this a try soon. I even have all the ingredients already. 🙂

Thanks! Since you have all the ingredients, for a simpler version of this recipe, you can simply drizzle a little soy sauce and sesame oil over the bean curd and serve.

@@aerondight7378 Yes, I make it maybe once a month or so. I don't get to the market where they sell these often enough. Everybody in the family still really likes it. I do make about 4x's the sauce though...we like a lot of sauce on everything. The sticks I do an overnight soak and then any pieces that got above water I reposition the little plates on top to get them under water again until it's time to make it. That way everything is soft and ready to be cut with scissors.

It is also possible to use Teriyaki sauce instead of the garlic sauce. Teriyaki sauce has a savory sweet taste and should go well with the bean curds. You may check out my video on making the Teriyaki sauce. Thanks

I use the Lee Kum Kee Mushroom Vegetarian Stir Fry Sauce that comes in a bottle. It's thick, salty, and umami.
