It’s not too late, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you have active gastritis or EOS. I would recommend working with a functional medicine doctor who can properly co-manage this disease. The last thing you want is to cause more inflammation abs tissue damage.

I.A.B get checked for hiatal hernia and H.pylori via a breath test. If still experiencing problems you may have atrophic gastritis. It’s hard to say with limited information provided. But I would investigate those possibilities. Work on getting those SIgA levels.

Does the amount of fat and type of fats play a role in the level of stomach acid? Is there a specific type of diet you should follow when you have low stomach acid? How can can it take to bring your acid levels back up? Is it okay to take all these items indefinitely? I have fought with low stomach acid for years.

I'm sure I am suffering from Low Stomach Acid. I wake every morning with gut ache which reduces when I rise and start moving around. I did have an endoscopy the other week where they found erosive duodinitis and then cast me adrift. That's the NHS for you. I do make my own Kimchi but I'm sure I react to it along with some ACV capsules I take. I have all sorts of problems with teas and coffee. I ditched most now, never touch coffee or black tea. Even peppermint, chamomile, ginger teas has my hands just turning red. I have some bitters so i'm going to give them a try and i'll give the Betaine & Pepsin a go at dinner tonight. It's just the erosive duodenitis that concerns me. I also have a really bad reaction in my hands when using power tools like a drill where it is vibrating. I have it in my head that this is due to mast cells escaping the gut via the duodenitis.I'm going to try and reduce food intake as well. So, I appear to be in a position that the acidity I need to improve may/will only agitate the erosive duodenitis.

@@DrRichardHagmeyer Thanks for the reply Dr, I have managed to see my GP recently and I'm now two weeks into the FODMAP diet. I had some bloods done and my bilirubin is at 37 umol/L and it should be 0 to 20. I have read that elevated bilirubin can indicate SIBO so I'll run with the diet and try and get fresh bloods done and my GP indicated maybe a colonoscopy to check for diverticulitis.

How does coffee play into this? I've read that it correlates with an increased gut microbiome diversity, yet that it can cause the sphincters between both the esophagus and the stomach aswell as the stomach and the small intestine to open more frequently. Wouldn't that last bit aggravate GERD for one? But maybe it also increases stomach acidity? Any thoughts would be appreciated

I have only heard bad things about coffee. No good things at all. Like it creates depletion of iron and other minerals and vitamins. No need to even consider coffee when there are so many other natural remedies that work for this.

I have been taking over the counter Enzyme Formula Tablets which contain Betaine Hydrochloride, Pepsin as well as other digestive enzymes such as amylase, lipase, cellulase, protease. I have been taking 2 tablets for my lunch and dinner and my symptoms of acid reflux and difficulty swallowing food has disappeared for the first time in 5 years! 😭My question to you Dr is will I need to take these tablets forever? I am so so grateful that I have finally found something that I had given me relief during and after eating, but I don’t want to have to rely on taking pills everyday. I would really appreciate your advice Dr.

I asked my gastro if I could try a prokinetic for bloat and chronic constipation (that I've had since I was a kid and I'm now 30.) I'm very certain I might have sibo and def motility issues. He said there are no Prokinetics to prescribe and that they all have side effects and to try another laxative... Which never helps me and I don't want my body use to those. I'm so defeated and at a loss as to what to do anymore. So much brain fog, fatigue, muscle pain, exhaustion, bloat and food sensitives. No doctors can help me :(

I have had over 30 blood tests done, ultrasound, abdominal and pelvic Ct Scan, stool tests, parasite test, h pylori, and foood allergy test. All came back normal. I can't put on weight and i just started to take ox bile which seemed to help but i have had diarrhea after eating twice since taking ox bile.
