    Doc, I was diagnosed with Gerd around 2018. They mentioned my valve not closing fully but never mentioned the concept of it being because of too low stomach acid. I did the burp test and didn't burp until after 14 minutes! I've been on Pantoprazole since 2018 and want off desperately. Can't get more than 2 days off it until the acid bothers me, especially during sleep. I tried quitting my PPI cold turkey last Monday, and instead started with an ACV with water, lemon and touch of honey drink. Did that for 2 days and started feeling the reflux by 2nd day/night. Chickened out and took half a Pantoprazole before bed and gave up on the ACV for now. *** Need to figure out how slowly I should taper off the pantoprazole, and how many ACV drinks I should have daily. *** Also, I take 81mg daily of aspirin because of a cardiac arrest in 2020. Doc mentioned that will upset my stomach more. So do I take more ACV because of that? Thanks!!

    I had the best doctor growing up. She made me feel so comfortable and I'd look forward to our visits. It wasn't until she retired I understood her checking my prostate-ejaculation capabilities was not standard practice.. anywhere. The moral of the story is, have faith in your medical professionals and dont judge/deem them as good or bad at their profession. I went along for the ride and loved every moment of it. Any day before that fateful day at age 17, I would have told you Doctor is a fantastic doctor. Now I realize she was a bit of a creep. You OP? You don't know what you're talking about as far as who is a "good" doctor. You're obviously very easily persuaded and lack the ability to understand people in the video world are good at appearing enjoyable to be around, due to the nature of scene by scene video editing. With that said.. you're kind of a liability to your own self. Please direct message me and we'll see what can be done to increase your quality of life. You're welcome.

    Great advice. Also, not drinking coffee on an empty stomach. I’ve just started apple cider vinegar before my dinner, sometimes. I got LPR Gerd by intermittent fasting and drinking coffee during my fast. My doctors all recommended nothing but pills, til I saw a Naturopath. She asked me questions and determined that I was eating very quickly, and fasting and drinking coffee together and made me aware of my triggers. One must be one’s own advocate for one’s health. I’m almost 77 and on no meds. This seems to be unusual instead of the norm. I am hoping our GP Doctors, become preventative health care providers, instead of just writing another prescription. Thank you. Linda

    Every parts of our body work because of nutrients. Even stomach needs nutrients to work properly, so the first thing is to get nutrients but i understand that in some diseases, the absorbtion of nutrients is compromise. For example, like you say, we need zinc, so we start to eats more red meat and seafood but if your stomach doesn't produce enough acid for example because of gut dysbiosis or helicobacter, the absorbtion of zinc is very low. Our body is too much complex, is so easy to damage it, but luckily you can even heal it but healing requires more times than damaging. P. S.: thank you for the advices.

    LOVING your content! I'm a moldie with MCAS, a history of SIBO, low stomach acid, etc. My dog was just diagnosed with pancreatic insufficiency (based on symptoms). I asked my vet if low stomach acid could be part of the problem and he said no low stomach acid doesn't happen, but I know from my experience that it does in ppl and my western doctors don't believe it but it's a huge part of what CURED my food intolerances. Based on the info in this video, I can do tricks for treats with my dog before giving him meals to trigger the engagement of the brain /GI system -so thanks for those ideas! My question is, do you know of a holistic vet resource where I can learn about dosing a dog for low stomach acid? I found one site that said it's the common cause of GI problems in dogs (as in ppl) that's usually overlooked but it didn't say how to dose treatment. Thanks in advance for any help or insight!

I found that I was strangely relaxed and calm and had no issues digesting food and no reflux while sleeping.. Little did I know that walking did the trick.. I just found that out now 2 days later from your video. I guess that's proof enough that this theory does work as I had no prior knowledge and it couldnt be a placebo effect 😅 Thanks doc for your informative and different take on videos as compared to the tradional strict protocol doctors out there.. In one of your other vids you said sometimes if we just let down our hair and ate what we wanted in moderation you wouldn't have all those symptoms of sibo manifest like they do.. Great question! You are correct, I do not recommend HCl supplementation if you have acute gastritis or an acute ulcer. You need to focus on healing the gut/stomach lining and the mucus lining first. Yes, in my opinion it does. ACV has a PH of about 2.5 and HCL is about a PH of 1. It's not as acidic but if you have low stomach acid it helps. I am drinking ACV now to get off of PPI's which I have been on for 19yrs now. I'm starting to have symptoms of low calcium. I started with only ACV as it coats the LES valve helping to keep it closed. I have recently added betaine hcl pills slowly and so far it's working without much heartburn. Next I am going to start lowering my does of my PPI's.

    What do you suggest when these things don’t work for improving the experience? I’m autistic and I often don’t get joy from smell of foods. I’m often eating because I can sense I’m hungry and I should, but nothing really tastes great. The more I chew, the less I enjoy food and less I want to continue. I’ve tried chewing more (and not going overboard!), and about five bites in I’m tired, and no longer want to eat. I’ve tried mindful eating, and again, five bites in … I’m bored and not hungry and the food seems unappetizing. I’ve been trying these techniques off and on my whole life and haven’t had much success. So I’m wondering if there’s some different avenues I can go that may be beneficial?

    Definitely get off any PPI’s, take 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar before each meal. Supplement With d3, k2, zinc. Kombucha is really great too. Inner filet aloe to heal your esophagus. My husband died of esophageal cancer back in 2017 and I wish I knew all these things then. Oh, and last but not least, if you have an attack and have heartburn, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 2 ounces of water will kill it in five minutes.

    Apparently you need Cl to produce stomach acid. Where do we get it from if you do not add salt to you food or consume food with preadded salt. And you do not drink tap chlorinated water? According to studies eliminating salt reduces stomach acid in half. I went WFPB SOS free low fat because of high blood pressure and after 18 months I managed to stop pills and BP went down to 105/70. But I have been struggling with heartburn all the time with rough periods of chest and throat pain. I did the baking soda test and never had any effect. I was never connecting lack of salt to low stomach acid.

I wanted to hear some professional advice but was surprised by the language as I am not used to that coming from any professionals I have seen. I would love to watch so I will give it a second chance and hope this was just a bad day for you. "incredibly hard to do" (re chewing mindfully). This is extremely difficult for me. I've trained my reticular activating system to not only respond to my name ala the "cocktail party effect," but all divergent or creative intuitions. As such, I'm actively stimulating myself with some lecture or a tv episode while I'm eating, hoping to have a clever thought a deep reverie, and paying exactly zero attention to the delicious meal I just put an hour in to (makes no sense rationally, lol). I need to re-train to shift my attention to relevant gustatory/gastronomic events. It should be simple: "you spent 30$ on this meal; an hour of time, nudging towards your tastes; so bloody enjoy the thing eh!?"

    Oh, that is awful! I'm so sorry! To be clear, are you off of the PPI and antacid now? If not, that should be the first goal- to gradually wean off of both. This will need to be done with the help of a provider (either the original prescriber or an integrative medical professional) to avoid side effects and rebound reflux which can be quite severe if you're not careful. I think herbs that coat and soothe (licorice, marshmallow) would be a great addition here, too.

    If this was me, I would personally be very strict about only taking liquid or liposomal or powder supplements. Supplement with vitamin d3 and k2 liquid drops. Supplement with liquid iron with vitamin C. Do not take iron with any other vitamin or mineral other than vitamin c. Take liquid iron on an empty stomach with a fresh squeezed lemon. Start drinking raw organic apple cider vinegar twice a day, everyday. Add in digestive bitters if needed.

  • @gutmicrobiomequeen

    @gutmicrobiomequeen

    4 жыл бұрын

    That's a tough spot to be in Kyle. If you were my patient (acknowledging that I don't know anything about your health history or test results) I would hold off on acid supplementation until the mucus lining is rebuilt and your stomach lining is in better shape. A starting point might be anti-inflammatories like Sulforophane and green tea, or perhaps probiotics. It's hard to give specific results without knowing your history and test results, but hopefully that helps.
