Today, I’m going to share how to get rid of acid reflux naturally.
Acid reflux is a situation where you have acid being regurgitated into the esophagus. The top cause of acid reflux is a deficiency of acid in the stomach.
The common treatments for acid reflux or heartburn may help someone feel better temporarily, but they aren't good long-term solutions. They also come with side effects.
It’s crucial that the stomach has the right pH. The normal pH of the stomach should be between one and three, which is very acidic. We need high acidity in the stomach to help break down proteins, absorb vitamins and minerals, and kill pathogens.
The hydrochloric acid in your stomach helps with the release of bile from the gallbladder. It also helps stimulate the pancreas, which supports digestion.
You need certain nutrients to make a sufficient amount of hydrochloric acid, including zinc, chlorides, and potassium. It’s also important to keep in mind that having too much calcium can cause GERD.
How to stop acid reflux naturally:
1. Take betaine hydrochloride
2. Get plenty of potassium and sea salt
3. Get plenty of zinc
4. Chew your food longer
5. Lower your stress

I thought I would take PPIs for the rest of my life and dead of oesophagien cancer. I prayed for healing but never imagined all syptoms of 12 years are gone immédiately by taking ACV, even the chronic pain on my right side of body disappear at same time. All the pain was ralated to the déficiency of gastric acid! It was a 12 year nightmare, I was starving because I could not eat lots of food. I had difficulty in swallowing and I cough a lot after eating. I woke up every morning with painful throat and my voice became terrible. I could not explain to others, I was depressed and I could not even work and have a 2nd kid. I wish I would found this channel earlier. Now I am healed and I just want to cry. Thank you Dr. Berg you are a real super hero who save people's life. It's incredible that the whole medical système treat people in wrong way! There are so many doctors in this world but they don't curious about the true reason! I did meditations for 2 months to attract a magical healing and I found this channel. This is really a magic!

8:12 Dr. Berg's Recommendation to Stop Acid Reflux: The best remedy is to take something to build up your hydrochloric acid and that's called Betaine Hydrochloride. You start by taking three right before your meal and see how you feel, if it's better but you still have problem, next time you take four, next time you take fine and you keep increasing it until your symptoms go away. It could take seven or eight or more of these Betaine Hydrochloride tablets before you have no more acid reflux. 9:01 Dr. Berg's next recommendation: Let's say you're up to eight Betaine Hydrochloride and your acid reflux goes away and you feel great, I would continue to take a little bit more until you start getting heartburn or a warmness in your stomach which you're taking too much, so then you can back off. That way you can know exactly how much you really need to fix this problem. 9:31 Make sure you're getting enough potassium and sea salt in your diet because those are the precursors to building hydrochloric acid. 9:42 Make sure you're getting sufficient zinc. 9:49 Chew your food longer. 10:04 Make sure you keep your stress down because stress can aggravate the situation. Thank you Dr. Berg. Sincerely, 11 : 11 Meditation Portal Channel

Another way to stop acid reflux if you can do this… I started with acid reflux in my 30’s. I thought it was because I was becoming unfit, therefore I started to jog 3 miles every other day. After my 2nd jog the reflux stopped, I did a few more jogs afterwards. So I stopped running and about 2 months after my reflux started again, so I started jogging again and my reflux would stop again. I still jog a little and go to the gym and I’ve only had attacks after good night drinking sessions etc, I'm 50 now and have been fine up to now.

For years, I was led to believe that my Acid Reflux was caused by eating; a)too much acidic foods; b)basically eating too much; c)drinking soda or alcohol; d)spicy foods. This video has me rethinking a lot of that. I have a Previcid prescription that I take on occasion, especially when I am traveling (thus eating out). When I limit my food intake, especially in the evening, I do not get heartburn during the night. Lately, I have been sleeping with my head and shoulders elevated by two pillows, so as to minimize the discomfort. Your video and some testimonies stated here have given me ideas that I will definitely incorporate into my diet.

When I started eating more meat and no carbs, acid reflux all but left. I now eat more natural sea salt on my food and use electrolytes as well. One thing I realized this week was that eating whole meats makes me chew my meals, unlike the carbs I was eating, as those don't require so much chewing. I'm certain this was a key component to producing more digestive enzymes.

First of all, thank you Dr. Berg for all of your honesty and candor. Second, I had my gall bladder removed at age 31 and am now 71. Can I still take betaine hydrochloride safely? I have very severe silent night time reflux to the extent that my new ENT discovered that my throat, voice box, and tonsils were being fried for years. Thus, a ton of tonsil infections every year with antibiotics. The pain had become terrible just to talk. My PCP and I were afraid I had throat cancer, so I saw the ENT to rule that out, since he is also a board certified cancer cosmetic/reconstructive surgeon. He put me on an anti reflux diet after scoping me in detail and the PPI omeprozole 40 mg. He directed me to sleep elevated by about 6 inches. This has all helped greatly, but my dermatologist, who had decades of practice experience and is more holistic in his approach, is really concerned for me to be on PPIs for the rest of my life. Can I take the betaine HCL? Please and thank you. I have very strong bones now, but do not want that to change.

He also said that I had a hiatel hernia, but he said lots of people have that with no problems. Over a year’s time he put me on five different anti-nausea medicines. I had no idea there were that many. Anyway, most of those meds helped me for a month or two and then I would get the nausea back. My niece had suggested Braggs apple cider vinegar but I didn’t think a natural solution would work for me. After two years of on again, off again relief, I tried the apple vinegar. I had immediate relief! I continued to take it for the next two weeks, and over time I forgot about it because I wasn’t having nausea anymore. I know that it is good for health anyway, but I hate the taste and I haven’t taken it for 2 years now. The nausea has not returned!

Dr Berg, I watched your similar video on this topic. My daughter had a terrible acid reflux as a baby. I was too scared to give her anything acidic and as I breastfeed, I even myself avoided acidic foods. To my surprise, first foods she went for at 6 months was lemons and fermented cabbage. And that was an end of her acid reflux. She’s 6 now and she loves ACV in her salad, still eats lemons and it’s interesting that she’s saying how lemons are fun and make her tummy happy Worst thing was that doctors were prescribing her that terrible Lozac and renitidine that made things much worse

Very interesting. I've had TMJD (Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction) for many years so I've developed anxiety and depression due to long term chronic pain. Stress, constipation and horrendous acid reflux are constant problems also. My TMJ treatment so far still has my chewing teeth covered in a composite resin to help my jaw function and occlude correctly. So I have no cusps on my chewing teeth and that makes it harder to grind my food up properly. I've been poppin antacid tablets like Tic Tacs day and night for some time now. It's a coincidence I found this video because I've been thinking lately that maybe a big aggravating part of my health problems is due to a lack of strong digestive acid. So thank you Doctor for illuminating the path.😄👍

Dr. Berg, I'm a 54 year old menopausal woman, and I fast 3.5 days a week. I get horrid reflux while fasting, which doesn't seem to make sense since my stomach's empty. When I'm not fasting, certain acidic low-carb foods make it much worse-lemon juice or tomato based sauces set me on fire, LOL, but I have reflux even with steak tips and a salad... and the one time I supplemented with Betaine supplement (while already having reflux), one single tablet made my feel like an active volcano, the burning was so bad. This led me to believe that perhaps I really do produce too much acid, and I was talked into a low-dose PPI by my doctor. The problem is that it's no longer working. I take it daily and the reflux has become bad again. I've had an upper GI and have no anatomical anomalies, though I was recently diagnosed with esophageal spasm, which, of course, is triggered by reflux. I already supplement zinc, chloride and potassium and do not supplement calcium. When I can't stand the burning any longer, I use baking soda in water for relief. My doctor wants to up the PPI dose but I believe that has to be another way. Is there anything else I might try that you didn't cover here?

There's a gadget called Iqoro that you exercise with x3 daily. It strengthens muscles from mouth to stomach. As we get older the sphincter to the stomach loosen meaning acid flows back up the oesophagus. Exercise to strengthen the sphincter & I read, that you actually need ro increase the acid in the stomach as its the acid that helps keep the sphincter closed. So I also take ACV in water night & morning, use the Iqoro, don't eat processed foods, pastry, cakes, very little bread, no alcohol & sleep propped up. I have stopped taking the medication as I believe it was reducing the stomach acid too much & if I stopped taking it for a couple of days, I felt so ill & then had tremendous pain. Not any more, thank goidness Have managed to

THANK YOU, Dr. Berg! I healed my acid reflux disease following your advice. I stopped taking my medication (Nexium) after 14 years. Then I started taking HCL Betaine pills, anywhere from 4-8 per meal. I did that regularly for several months until my body was able to start making its own acid w/o me taking the HCL Betaine. I also started doing IF and low carb meals. It has been exactly a year since I stopped taking Nexium and never looked back. So thank you so much for all your knowledge and for helping the world heal what doctor can't even figure out. Instead, they are simply putting us on different medications, causing other side effects that are so harmful to our bodies.

So happy to hear! Maybe you have tips for me - I was just put on Nexium two weeks ago, and I'm already on 60mg while my daily dose is 40, and I still have heartburn! So I don't think I have too much acid, as my doctor says. I went to her as I thought I had too little, but she said that was rarely occuring, without doing any more exams on me. Would you share what foods you eat while coming off Nexium please? Can you have coffee? I love coffee.. 😬 Do you do the celery juice? 🌼

After taking Omeprazole for a full 12 years on my doctor's continued recommendation, I stopped back in September and will never go back after learning the side effects. Bone loss/osteoporosis and dementia are the two biggest and worst. It took me almost 3 full months for the issue to be resolved (truly thanks to your videos and information), but I'm at a point where I no longer need medication thanks to proper usage of apple cider vinegar. There are many many videos online about reasolving the problem, this is one that helped me better understand (visually) what's going on and how to resolve it. It was by no means an immediate fix, but at this point I'm completely off Omeprazole and I'll never go back to it. Thank you, Dr Berg!

Dr. Berg, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and for providing your audience with valuable insight regarding health. Much respect to you! I took Pantoprazole for 5 or 6 years due to GERD. When my GP prescribed it to me, I asked about possible side effects, and all she mentioned was a lack of Vit B12 with long term use. Well about 3 years ago, I was rushed to emergency with severe stomach pain and had to go on sick leave for 15 weeks. It was then I stumbled on a video talking about the dangerous side effects of proton pump inhibitors and the amazing benefits of apple cider vinegar. I stopped taking the Pantoprazole immediately and took ACV in water 4 to 5 times per day along with cutting out carbs. It took me less than a month to totally get rid of my GERD.

I also went the same thing but less severe as you. My doctor prescribed me with Omeprazole because of refluxing acid for 1 week, however, it didn't end my acid reflux so I would continue taking omeprazole whenever I get acid reflux and it still didn't end my acid reflux and after a few months, I encountered dr. eric's channel and found out that I shouldn't take antacids when I kept getting acid reflux day in and day out but rather, I should increase the ph and amount of my acid so I took Apple cider vinegar like dr. eric said and after taking 2 tsp everyday, I finally ended my chronic acid reflux thanks to dr. eric and his informative videos.

There's another video where Dr. Berg says GERD is caused by a vitamin B1 and Zinc deficiency. Don't know why he doesn't talk about it in this video. Vitamin B1 needs to be taken in the form of non-fortified nutritional yeast. You could have gotten rid of GERD within a few hours going this route. But it's a good thing you decided to cut down on carbs/sugar bc you couldnt have stopped GERD without doing so bc that's what helped you build back up your zinc and B1. If you ever eat too many carbs and your symptoms reappear, just take non-fortified nutritional yeast and zinc complex, (or a few oysters instead), and it will be gone in a few hours up to maybe a day at most. ACV is also very important :)

I wouldnt say anything bad about pantoprazole. To lay people, especially those without health insurance in the US, pharma might be evil. But pantaprazole is SO effective when treating upper GI bleeds and stomach ulcers. It also gets rid of pylori bacteria. It's usually prescribed for temporary treatment. If youre taking a lot of medication already because youre unhealthy, youre also prescribed pantoprazole because your stomach might not be able to handle all those difficult medications at once. 90% of the people who go into hospitals for repeat issues are unwilling to change their diet or lifestyle so medication is really the only bandaid given. Personal issues about not improving diet and lifestyle are not doctor issues, theyre patient issues.

Hello Dr Berg. I'm a 63 year old, generally fit and healthy female. I had an excruciatingly sore throat for years, but NO other symptoms of GERD; was diagnosed with silent reflux. Rx PPIs. Followed self care instructions rigidly. I don't want to continue to take PPIs long term, but when I've tried to gradually stop them to try an elimination diet as advised, the throat pain returns with a vengeance. Apple cider vinegar hurts my throat - I had a gastroscopy recently which revealed no inflammation or ulcers. I have a mainly vegetarian diet, including fresh probiotics, D3, B12 and magnesium. I've watched your videos advocating betaine hydrochloride with great interest. Any suggestions on how to manage a transition away from PPIs will be gladly acted on! Thank you.

I suffered severe acid reflux for years - the burning pain in my throat was excruciating, and it even burned my Bronchial tubes which would set me off coughing till I was almost vomiting - and the cough (productive) would last for a week. I was already on PPI's and swallowing antacid tablets like they were jelly beans. It got so that I was scared to go to sleep at night and would lie awake for hours if I felt little burps coming up - which to me was a sign of imminent reflux. How did I get rid of it? - five months ago I started to eat an apple every day after my main meal of the day, and from the very first day my acid reflux problem vanished! You may think it is just a coincidence but I notice in the comments APPLE cider is mentioned. I no longer fear acid reflux bouts - my only fear is that I should forget to eat my Apple!

In looking up betaine hydrocholoride, it seems to vary between 600mg to 1200mg. It would be great if you could include a baseline for the supplements you recommend. Also, several articles recommend taking the betaine in the middle rather than before eating and to include at least 6 oz. of protein with the meal.
