This why I do doordash as a last resort. They give customers too much power and the customers suck period. I never felt like they appreciated me picking up their food more finding reasons to complain and get free food.

Gig Coach Jake facts!! I mainly deliver for instacart and the newbies take these $7 dollar full service batches that used to be $12 if they let the batch sit there they will increase. We have voice on how much these orders are. It doesn’t matter if you this part time and full time it’s about being paid what is fair.

I had a customer rating of 9.98. Then two customers this week knocked me down to 9.85. One customer was a pain from the start. She called doordash saying my phone wont accept her call. Doordash contacted me tell me she wants extra sauce from McDonald's. I say ok. I hand delivered the "sealed" order with the extra sauce inside to customer. Two minutes down the road I get a call from that customer (oh it seems my phone is receiving calls now!) telling me her order was missing a the 10 piece nuggets. I suggested she call McDonald's. She yelled at me and said" why should I call them! You are the one supposed to pickup my order! I told her the bags are sealed, I have know way of knowing what is inside. Then I said "if you call them I will go back to" , then she hung up on me. The other customer gave the wrong address. It turned out that she lived in the next town/city, 8 miles further. They expected me to drive the extra mile. I called Doordash, they couldn't contact the customer, they verified my location an instructed me to drop the order where I was. Customer wasn't happy. That last one seems to be a scam I run into a lot. The customer gives an address close to the restaurant, then after they see I am en route they text me with a new address that is 1, 2, + miles further away. I guess they save money on the delivery charge that way. I got suckerd into it once. Don't do it! If you go more than 1/4 from the original address the app won't let you complete the order. Now you have to drive back that 1 mile which now makes your travel 2 miles. Don't do it!

Recently in the last week, I had received two incomplete order complaints and had filled the forms out. Glad to have found your channel and just bought myself a body cam 😌

Alot of customer will lie just to get free food

Why doesn't DoorDash take any blame? There is a restaurant rating and a delivery rating. What about problems with the app? We get penalized for app issues. We don't even get to see what the rating was nor told what was wrong so that we can improve. I delivered an order that was sealed, so there was no way to verify items. Something was missing. The customer got a refund. My completion rate went down. It's stupid.

Very sorry to hear about that! It's a tough business, no doubt. These companies don't make it any easier on us. That's why we have to be as proactive as possible in covering our own ends. The evidence could even be used in a dispute against DoorDash later, you never know!

When I have something go wrong I send in a report at the end of the delivery. That has helped me. It’s takes about two minutes to type up what happened before ended a delivery.

I really do appreciate what you and all the other KZread creators are doing, trying to help us make more money and keeping us informed. Unfortunately, all the coaching and consulting in the world can't change the fact that in some of these markets, they are putting 1,000+ drivers on at once, leaving us sit for hours on end with no offers, or bombarding us with nothing but low pay / long distance offers when they do send them to us. It really sucks what these gig economy jobs have come to.

Hey random thought I just figured out, I thought it was 1 out of 3 before you get a dock in acceptance rate and now if you just miss and not accept or decline they are docking a percentage point....???

What do you do if you are deactivated in your account was in good standing and they won't give you a reason?

Depends what your budget is really. I would choose anything Amazon Choice, with higher ratings and plenty of reviews to read.

Its really sad that we need to wear dash cams/body cams to make legitimate money in a side gig (in some cases full time job) I always ask that the merchant seal tye bags and make sure all items are in the bag. They should know we went to the addy since the app can track where we are to slide arrived/ect.

If it’s implemented, it definitely isn’t a bad idea! What happens when nobody is available though? There’s other incidents where a signature won’t cover you. Like someone complaining you were rude and unprofessional, so they can get a food comp. It’s a sad reality that happens a lot!!

Never seen this on my end *Indiana* I am having issues with my rating. My ratings have dropped almost .20 in the last 125 deliveries. I have been double checking, texting costomer, asking costomer for good ratings. My costomer all act satisfied. The only this I can think of is I have been taking alot of small non tipping orders. Frustrated All my other ratings are in the 90%+. Is anyone else having issues w/costomer ratings?

Uber and doordash is where all the issues always come from I rarely work for either unless I’m desperate to hit my quota but yes it’s getting out of control

Darrell I’ve been worried about GCJ for a while now. In the past he has responded to me multiple times when I had a question. Since his last video however, I’ve tried multiple times to contact him by messaging him both here and his website, and have not received a response. My fear is maybe that Covid got him.

@@MarkoAnzio Something is definitely wrong on his end. It's crazy to think that he would pass from Covid unless he had a preexisting condition given his age. We don't know the guy but he appears to be pretty fit and healthy. If something indeed happened to him it could be something unrelated like an accident. Another person did an obituary search and didn't find his name so hopefully he is alive unless it isn't updated. I really hope he is ok. They said he had a FB post in July so unless it wasn't him who posted it, he was alive at least till then. I really hope the guy is ok.

Darrell I know that earlier this year he had his gallbladder removed and I think he suffered from gastrointestinal issues. However, he was in very good shape and was into personal training so I would be very shocked if he was lost due to covid. The only other thing I could think of is these companies have possibly bought Jakes silence. Doubtful the given this isn’t a very big channel

By working dash and instacart u can do 6 to 8 a week. But to hit those kind of numbers its gonna feel like real work because it is.

It definitely can be! Which is why it's important to cover our own behinds. How many reported issues have you been contacted about in the past though? You've been doing this awhile.

Had the same guy saying he didn’t receive food 🥘 from multiple different accounts and always gave a generic address to the Swimming pool 🏊‍♀️ or a parking lot Etc but always the same community and same guy 😆 that could someone fired quick however I took care of it ASAP all 3 times but I’ve seen others getting deactivated for this and not taking action 😯

I deliberately avoid bad traffic flows, seldom let the app guide me into zip codes I know suck. The app will perpetrate, only you can control your paycheck, strive to get better, work smart, stay positive, dont overwork it if your new, learn slow and hydrate, keep snack foods to control weekly frivolous expenditures.

Anyway, you will learn to avoid or decline certain merchants you know can be slow, pick areas that tip well enough, work certain hours or days that are advantageous. Be an opportunist about your gig work! My ratings are great because I don't overly decline, I look for quick routes only because I have 12 years of airport shuttle and pizza delivery experience. Meaning, my customer service skills are superb. Hopefully, your market is large enough, safe enough to give you some flexibility. Where I operate from, San Diego, its rather hard to score good dashes paying over 14. and DD doesnt know how to mine the hotel businesses, they rely way too much on locals who live in high rises, tip little, use too much of our time. DD isnt able to stack our deliveries like other cities whose drivers get above 17. combined for what should only take 1/2 hr. All said, your gig job requires your full attention and best driving skills. #buckleup

Do not take orders into bad areas, and most importantly, DONT TAKE SHIT ORDERS :P

Dash cam or body cam won't help you after all Doordash will side with customers anyways. Unless you want the evidence to sue doordash after they deactivated you.

Recent incident: customer texts me asking if I’m lost. I reply that I’ve already left the food outside the front door, as requested in the app(something people use to get free food). They called me a liar, etc, etc but I ended that BS with this reply after being called a liar. “I have dash cam footage of me picking up, food inside hot bag from restaurant, and delivery to address given with the instructions to not knock or ring the bell. I had no way to confirm delivery, since I was asked to leave it by the door.” Customers tune changed INSTANTLY and then apologized. Had I not had that, they would’ve 100% contacted DoorDash to report me. No ding to my rating, or complaints. Wanna rethink your OPINION??

I LOVEEEE when they do that, because my reply is that I have dash cam footage showing me pickup and deliver to the provided address. Their tune always changes instantly, and I don't take the ratings ding as well. People will play all types of games, no doubt!!!! It's technically 2/100 where your account gets "reviewed" which is an odd term for the to use, since they typically just deactivate and ask questions after.

Is working for door dash worth all that tech stuff if door dash wants to fire you they will. I don’t believe they care if you video it or recorded it or not. Big companies aways sides with the customers.

This is to cover your own end in any disputes, and most definitely is legal for YOUR OWN use, to provide in any and all disputes to back your claim. If you're recording audio and distributing it on social media, yeah you're at risk in most states if it's in a private place. Nonetheless, great suggestion to look into local laws. You could accidental record someone taking on the phone in public. This could violate the law. Again, not speaking to the validity but more so just emphasizing your CYA. Better to be in the know.

It gives them another reason to get rid of anyone. They’ve never given me any issues and my acceptance rating has been as low as 0% dozens of times.

Absolutely use dash and body cams. They are excellent lie killers. My dash cam is a professional fleet cam that records inside and out of the vehicle with all the metrics and real time mapping all in one view. My body cam is a pair of sunglasses with a hidden cam in them. Gotta protect yourself from these false claims or scams because YOU are the one that pays.

Way too much effort for this piddly little money most of us are making. I'm lucky to even clear minimum wage here in Las Vegas. Totally not worth it, and I am talking about ALL of these delivery gigs, not just DoorDash. They offer me minimal pay, I offer them minimal effort in return. If I get deactivated, oh well. I don't really care anymore.

Good points....yeah i noticed that just past couple of days....i also got an email ssying a customer didnt get their delivery (2 days later). I had no way of defending myself or proving anything so i told doordash that im a professional driver and have done over 2000 doordash delivers since may and always complete my orders once i pick up the food but that perhaps doordash should add a signature to all deliveries like they doo with walmart and the ability to take photos of where we put delivery per customer request etc but body cam is a good idea too. @@GigCoachJake agreed...they dont get that we bring them more cash because people have a good experience....but when they have bad experiences they loose customers....but if false claims gets good drivers canned....we arent there to give that good customer service :) Trust me...ive known drivers that got canned from postmates lol and rightly so...doing dumb things....i said to myself they wouldnt lsst a month with Doorfash ratings lol Anyway keep up the great work Jake! Hope you are litterally rolling in the dough lol working your way to 6 figures and then Millionaire status at a young age so you can retire before you get to my age! Lol God Bless :)
