I mean this is the same universe where Spongebob cooked Krabby patties by THINKING OF THEM after putting them in his brain, but usually the universe in Spongebob is only so cruel to Squidward so... maybe they thought Superfriends Aquaman was Squidward or something.

Vegeta HAS used Hakai in the recent arc (which is where Ultra Ego is from) but he never uses to the extent to erase someone he's only been erasing objects so yeah he absolutely can use it.

I'm so glad to see Silver vs Trunk so high up, having recently gotten back into Sonic with the comics and Frontiers, and having a brief stint back into Xenoverse after watching Super Hero, it really came out in the perfect tim- perfect moment. Also the fake name of Silver's VO is a huge plus.

I’d like to point out in 1:03:37 that Aquamans side bar actually affects Spongebob which is a neat detail about how not only spongebob can ride scene transitions but his fourth wall awareness in his own show.

This was such a phenomenal season overall. At worst, an episode was just okay, at best, I got my favourite episode of the entire show that squashed any and all fears I had of them using one of my favourite characters. Although objectively it’s not the best episode of the season, Trunks Vs Silver made me really happy, not only as a Sonic fan, but someone who’d rank Silver in their top 3 favourite characters in the entire series. I loved a ton of other episodes too, and it kinda sucks my least favourite episode came right at the end, but I had a great time with the season as a whole

This was probably the best season thus far and worth the watch. Can’t wait for the next one! Edit: 1:23:27 That transition to the runner-up made me laugh yet again. Nemesis knows how to get me unexpectedly sometimes, I swear. Also, you and I are one in the same with the number one episode. 10/10 review. And I agree with 1:35:00; haven’t been doing that well personally and mentally, including the DEATH BATTLE bit-in my case anyway-that will mean nothing to me in the new year coming in.

Wonderful ranking vid here Nem! Good transition choices (#2's works too well), and I'm happy to see how passionate you were for the best this season had to offer. Season 9 is probably the best season of the show, and I do not look forward to the insane task of trying to rank it myself, lol.

Honestly I'm glad you addressed that bit where you don't have to have watched the source to enjoy a VS. show. I also just noticed that bond clicked the pen once in the elevator.

This season has been such a ride, so many good episodes, this might be my new favorite season, but it sure does have tough competition

Just want to say this, this review and all the other ones you do feels very well balanced and keeps me focused throughout the entire video. I like how you make it a point to bring up the analysis when they deserve to be praised or criticized (since most people will just focus on the fight) and how you point out anything minor that deserves to be pointed out and criticized for a good episode (and vice versa for a bad episode) in a way that makes it clear that you’re only pointing out these flaws and boons to show what to focus on in future death battles and what to get rid of. Your own analysis of the death battles and also balanced out by humor that doesn’t feel too forced, Nemesis. There are obviously a lot of episode placements I would switch around and fights that I thought you gave too much praise/criticism (though that mainly stems from my personal preference), but I still appreciate your videos all the same Nemesis.

I do agree with everything you said about gogeta vs vegito, I’m a huge dragon ball fan and I feel like you articulated all of my thoughts on it perfectly. I always had a bad taste in my mouth after watching it and though I can point out stuff that bothered me I couldn’t find the overall thing I didn’t like. But then you pointed out that adding hero’s did literally nothing besides fluff out the runtime, which sucks so so bad! Although I still would put Micheal vs Jason at the very bottom of my ranking, that was my second most wanted episode ever....

The part about Heros doing nothing is wrong. (even tho i had wished it did more) Vegito using Kaioken and Gogeta using Evolution Blue during the final push are both things they've only shown to do in Heros.(despite logically being applicable to the main series without it) Its pretty obvious why only these were used tho, no Xemoverse models or anything of the crazier heros stuff like Limit Breaker SSJ4s, which id imagine would be a lot harder to make from scratch than it would be worth. In an ideal world it would of ended with LB SSJ4 Gogeta instead, but then people might fixate on SSJ4 vs SSJB too much despite them being stated equal from Heros (another Heros statement thats relevant) Ofc everything im ab to say is subjective(its an opinion ofc it is) But I feel like Gogeta v Vegito defenitely doesnt deserve last. At least its honest with what it is. Unlike Jason v Michael which peaks in its Analysis but dropped the ball so hard on one of the most iconic match ups ever. Hardly even resembling their strengths/fighting. and if we wanna talk "time padding" like was mentioned for GvsV (which no hate on Nem obv I just think he was wrong here by the relevant Heros stuff I mentioned above) how about time padding DURING THE FIGHT ANIMATION? Jason vs Michael without the civilians is like 25 seconds of action. Im usually not one to put so much stock into the Fight over the Analysis, but JasonVsMichael hardly even feels like it HAS a fight. So a Great Analysis with a borderline non-existent fight vs Mid Analysis and (personally) a p decent Fight despite some grievances I have with it. Again, at least GvsV was honest with what you get. Id defenitely agree Jason and Michael deserved the bottom spot over Gogeta and Vegito. But couldn't blame someone from putting Gogeta Vegito next above them if the episode didnt appeal to them.

I just wanna apologize if my comment on Spongebob vs Aquaman. I am not sure if it came out as wrong, like I was one of those toxic Spongebob fans. I think I mainly liked the episode because I grew up with the character, and I do think the fact that I loved the character did enhance my enjoyment. I am shocked that other fans of the series ended up antagonizing you as well, maybe next season there won't be as many episodes that plagued you like that, or hell, the Death Battle subreddit was insufferable as well, so much so I has to leave it for a good few months. So maybe thr fanbase will just learn to chill out. Idk

@@daveTHEdirty there have been more unbalanced fights, and they do fights based on stuff like similiarities and such so 2 anime protagonists that use breathing abilities with swords, they’re main enemy eat humans and is weak to sunlight, both have a sibling that turns into they’re enemies species

Fun fact: the live action Aquaman thing is a type of animation called clutch cargo where it has stills of animation but uses bits of live action like eyes and lips

Zatanna vs Scarlet Witch was one of the worst for me. Zatanna never beat Parlaya. If you read the comic it was literally Swamp Thing that defeated her. She was merely a distraction. Just able to hold her back for a few seconds. And in House of M Wanda actually did effect the entire infinite multiverse. Forge used other technologies to looking into other universes, saying he couldn't find other mutants in any other universe

Dang, coming back to this from Season 10 and it's still amazing how they dropped two banger seasons in a row. Multiple episodes that were absolute fire and certified bangers like Omni v HL, Goku v SMan 3, Alex v Cole. All of it so good bro

The jank punches in Omniman vs homelander does work for me since Nolan does mention that Homelander isn’t turning with the punches but instead trying to just tank it.

My biggest problem with gogeta vs vegito is the obvious fact of it being a same series MU. It’s like if Hulk Vs Juggernaut was an actual death battle.

I have a sneaking suspicion the Blender team has one member that’s significantly worse than the rest, and it explains a lot thinking like this. We’ll call this spectre animator… Mr. Jenkins. He’s the man who animated the scythe vs lightsaber fight in Boba vs Predator, the opening scuffle of Bond vs Wick, the Fierce Deity vs Cloud sword fight, etc. If we don’t stop him soon, then every Blender fight will have one pretty janky scene to mildly annoy us. (This is all a joke, I mean nothing against Mr. Jenkins)

Wow, all 16 of these episodes are great! Also finally, some Magneto vs Tetsuo love, definitely the most underrated episode of the season. Edit edit: I'll throw my hat into this ring. 17. 13 vs 31: Honestly all the problems you had, but without any personal connections to the matchup. 16. Veggie Rot vs Goge: Lame on its own, extra weak as a finale. Somehow feels more capeshit than the actual capeshit episode. 15. Book of Din Djarin vs John "The Dumpling" Yautja: The analysis was painfully unfunny and pairing one guy against the entire Yautja species was weird. The fight had a first good half and a dumb second half, but I can't be too mad since John is trying his absolute best, what a lad. 14. Nut vs Scream: I thought the analysis was fun, doing a good coverage of Deku's story and Asta's was decently funny. I also thought it was cool how they talked about the role of both their rivals and Asta's ability to turn his weakness into a strength. The fight has some fun lines from Asta but also peak choreography with Deku using the same punch 4 times to no effect. The ending just doesn't hold on Deku's eyes long enough to convey that he died and Asta pulls a dick move. I can say I liked it, but only when my brain is turned off. 13. Goku vs Superman 3: I don't want to talk about the analysis. The fight is really good aesthetically, the hydra line was fun, and the death happened I think. Egg shells hurt to walk on man. 12. Source? vs The Frame of War: I forgor this episode happened lmao. 11. Da Joker baby vs Ew, League: The episode was good overall, but it doesn't leave me with much to talk about. It would probably be higher if I cared about either character at all. 10. Ms. Strange vs Peak Comic Woman: Zatanna Zatanna Zatanna Zatanna Zatanna Zatanna I love Zatanna 9. Mr. Love and Thunder vs Ultra Ego Death: The analysis did a good job talking about 2 characters I really like. The fight while poorly paced, has the hype that comes with both characters. 8. The Black Adam vs The Apocalypse X-Men Marvel Comics: Black Adam getting kinda cucked sucks, but like Shazam's episode is carried by the innate fun of capeshit, while also having a very cool death and solid voice acting. 7. Austin Powers vs John Rambo: Bond's analysis was a lot of fun and Wick's was carried by the funny hosts talking about the thing I liked. The fight has Nightmare Mr. Bond which kills the start, but otherwise gets has Bonds charisma and Wick's badassery carry the whole thing. Also Secret Service makes the climax so fun. 6. Tanjiro Demon Slayer vs Boomer Joseph: The bare minimum Tanjiro analysis is kinda lame but also has a Jojo analysis, so yay. The fight meanwhile has some solid choreography and trading of abilities while also having the most Jojo conclusion that ever Jojo'd. The emotional ending is good, but got outdone like 2 episodes later lmao. But, Breathless Blades makes the whole fight feel cinematic, so thats a plus. 5. Crapbaskets vs Its no use: Holy shit, I love Hedge of Tomorrow. 4. The Eye vs Adventure Time Lich: Holy shit, how is the fight this perfect? Its only this low because the fights above are just as good but with characters I'm more attached to. 3. Think vs Milk: The most cathartic stomp of all time 2. The Little Yellow Dude vs The Deep: The funniest stomp of all time. 1. Magnus Magneton vs Forhead: This episode gives me everything I wanted from a Magneto episode, an analysis that goes over his connections to Malcolm X and his redemption, a fight that portrays the terrifying nature of his powers, his anger, and his morality. Tetsuo I'm not as familiar with, but the episode gives me an exact idea of his character. The fight has a fun trading of abilities and personalities in the first half and a perfect emotional second half, with Ego Death doing an amazing job at conveying the change of tone. Just a 10/10 all around

#1: a masterclass on how to make your villains impactful. My request for a matchup: ORT Vs. either Galactus or the Celestials (both being the ultimate superboss enemies of their respective universes), with a prequel being either Beast I Vs. Apocalypse (who would presumably have history with the Evils of Humanity), or Kirschtaria Wodime Vs. X-Man (both being well-intentioned extremists who want the best out of their worlds, and are [REDACTED]), to preface ORT having devoured Servants to gain the power set of its Lostbelt incarnation.

I hope 2023 is better for you nemesis

Sauron vs Lich King is probably one of the best Death Battle episodes ever

1:13:12 i think it might be that wick is cautious of it being an gadget and bond trying to click the pen as well, also him seeing james bond reaction to it as well.

Even if it stumbled a bit at the end, Season 9 was still really good even if it didn't hit the peaks of Season 8, but was also far more consistent. Pretty surprising to see 19 minutes of waiting for Cole vs Alex ft. Gogeta vs Vegito at last and to have Bond vs Wick that high (great episode still). Favourite for me was Probably Sauron vs Lich King for reasons already covered, and this and most of the other 3D episodes this season make me excited to see how they'll be tacked in Season 10.

Personal Ranking 17. Jason vs Michael 6/10, I feel bad for putting it here but the fight felt unfinished despite the great sound design and visuals. 16. Zatanna ft. Scarlet Witch 6.5/10: Zatanna made it fun but Wanda kind of got bodied despite the matchup being the closest this season. Felt like there should’ve been more magic and the look of the animation kind of bothered me 15. Boba Fett vs John Yautja 7/10: A decent episode that has John Yautja, it would be a 6.5 but Boba Fett won so 7. 14. Gogeta vs Vegito 7/10: The finale of all time, it has sound design, animation, and analysis. Dragon Dance slaps tho. 13. Deku vs Asta 7.5/10: This one feels like an upper echelon Season 7 episode ngl Wiz. 12. The Rock vs Apocalypse 8/10: Cool high energy fight and good track but I wish both Adam and Nur got to do more. 11. The episode that shall not be named 8/10: Great fight king of dumb ending. 10. Thor vs Vegeta 8/10: Testosterone the episode but the fight was mostly Vegeta with hints of Thor in there 9. James Bond vs Austi-John Wick 8.5/10: Great fight, good analysis albeit a bit oddly paced, but the start of the animation hoo boy 8. Sponsored vs Raiden 9/10: Even the worst Metal Gear episode is a banger, this franchise and Death Battle go together like peanut butter and jelly. 7. Harley Quinn vs Jinx 9/10: Holy shit a female vs female fight that’s actually cracked the top half, it truly is the end of days. A funny fight with some minor issues and also Fortnite Harley. 6. Tanjiro vs Jonathan 9/10: Fantastic fight with semi-emotional ending. The wait to see Jonathan punch a child in the face was worth it. 5. Magneto vs Forehead 9.5/10: Good fight that went to fantastic with emotional ending that doesn’t have goofy ahh JoJo tears. 4. Trunks vs Silver 9.5/10: So close to perfection but there are a few things that big it down a little. Other than that fantastic episode. 3. Homelander’s public execution 10/10: So satisfying with a fantastic analysis, fight, conclusion, and especially death. 2. Sauron vs Lich King 10.5/10: I didn’t know anything about LotR or WoW, but I’m pretty sure I creamed myself when I saw the fight. It’s still goddamn amazing. 1. SpongeBob vs Aquaman 11/10: As a fan of SpongeBob and someone who watched the Superfriends cartoon as a kid this episode made me so unbelievably happy Best Season don’t @ me

While not reaching the highs of season 8 for me. I think season 9 is one of the most of the consistent DB seasons. There’s a real sense of trying to shake things up like last season and the episodes I dislike I can count on a single hand.

Spoiler for his number 1 spot, i mean you know what it is I came into sauron vs lich king with literally no expectations and zero knowledge of either series. This fight and analysis made me like arthus and made sauron one of my favorite characters of all time, the battle is perfect exept for 1 second where lich king floats but before it and after we get some of the best dialogue exchanges ever. This fight made snake vs sam from an untouchable god to it barely being above SvLK Also as an australian i can confirm santa comes to australia and goes "Ho Ho Holy, shit its hot."

Honestly, my favorite of the season was SpongeBob SquarePants vs Super Friends Aquaman because: 1. Nostalgia for SpongeBob 2. The catharsis with the episode Plus, it was just fun. Also, I do understand your frustration with [REDACTED]. Lord knows that if they did Kraken vs Leviathan, I would feel the same way

Honestly, even though everything after thor vs vegeta is completely different from my list, I cant really say you're wrong cause you still enjoyed everything as much as I did (aside from adam vs apocalypse)

personally think that boba vs predator was great. i understand the criticisms and its definitely not my favorite of the season, but honestly i prefer it over SW vs Z, other than that i mostly agree with the rankings, especially sauron vs lich king, even as someone who doesn't really care about either series involved i can fully say that even if you know nothing about either character you will enjoy the episode.

Yeah, I don't think it's that bad. It's definitely better than Thor Vs Vegeta, Z Vs SW and Magneto Vs Tetsuo. It's weird to see people calling Pred Vs Boba for being mid, but openly praise those ones which are just as bad, if not worse

@@death-nm7hr Unlike Thor Vs Vegeta, Boba Vs Predator felt like an even exchange, with both combatants getting in a good amount of offense in a tense battle. Also, unlike Zatanna Vs Witch, the pacing was great and they both used a lot of their arsenal. The part where they go among all the different universes felt like the sense of scale grew too quickly, as if it was an obligation.

For the whole Bond shooting through Wick’s suit thing, I always thought of it as him shooting the suit underneath which isn’t bulletproof. Could be wrong though

I would also like to mention that they based the self destruct mainly off the first movie's self destruct. Compared to the other self destructs we see, I doubt Arnold, let alone Boba, would outrun a, ever expanding plasma dome that put Antarctica into a nuclear winter.

I probably think this is the best season of DB. S8 and S6 are both close, tho. I also did enjoy Herc vs Wukong. The way it was told like a muse reciting to a crowd was really cool. But, the death was underwhelming cause the muse basically said “Oh, Wukong won.” Here’s my personal ranking below. Honestly I think Gogeta vs Vegito was an alright episode. On a first viewing I gave it a 9/10 with my major complaint being how short it was overall and wished they at least made the discussion more interesting with the conclusion. For example, the potential multipliers between the two fusions to determine the difference in power instead of saying Vegeta is weaker than Goku so Gogeta should be weaker like you mentioned. I think most of the problems with the battles as well as Dragon Ball on the show in general have come down to the roster kits all being the same overall with the standard array of flight, energy blasts, energy beams, and just punching and kicks with the occasional unique power or two. Though as a Season Finale it's a very disappointing one, not the absolutely weakest but definitely down there. So yeah nowadays I'd place it more at a solid 6 to low 7 out of 10.

To be fair, there isn’t much they could do. Realistically the fight would just end in a draw since they’re both equal in power and both can burn through the fusion before the other by using too much power.

Just to add onto Magneto vs Tetsuo being one of the best battles this season (possibly the best Marvel DB???), my main criticism of the fight is that Japan in the Marvel comics actually respects the Japanese mutant Sunfire. Aside from the weird arm-cutting, my only other "complaint" is about a relatively obscure (compared to Magneto) mutant being disregarded for the opening line to the battle. I'd say the battle is just completely flawless aside from that minor nitpick that only a hardcore ultra-nerd (like me) would care about.

And even if that was a reference it's a bad one as Myers in dbd is known for one thing and that's the tombstone add on a which allows you to kill anyone as long as Myers power is at tier 3

I kinda wish this one did the Goku vs Superman 2 documentary route ngl, besides that I still like this episode honestly, not the best, but not that bad 15. Wow I'm not suprised this isn't lower, Jon Yautja is the best character to come out of this ssn, but besides the joke aspect, A lot of this fight is good, but doesn't stick the landing 13. Kinda mixed on Deku vs Asta. On one hand, there is the feeling of "hey I know that series" but on the other hand, as a fan of Black Clover the mischaracterization showed one of the reason I don't want DB using the series I like.

@Sar while it is true that the matchup failed to properly use both characters kits, I feel like mischaracterization especially hit me due to me having a deep love for the source material. Also I honestly don't like Meliodas v Asta because while both characters have swords that counter magic I don't believe they have magic of their own, so it creates the same problem.

17. Black Adam vs Apocalyspe really disappointed me with it's short length and bland choreography 16. Boba Fett vs Predator is a fight I used to really like, but over time see more of it's flaws 15. Trunks vs Silver is something I wish I liked more, but just find the back and forth boring 14. Deku vs Asta has some good stuff, and some mediocre stuff 13. Thor vs Vegeta is relatively dull with some truly excellent stuff in it 12. Excalibur vs Raiden is unique and fun, but the action itself wasn't that interesting for me 11. Jason vs Michael is an episode where I get there are many flaws, but I still enjoy it more than the ones I rank below it. 10. Tanjiro vs Jonathan is really good but the ending could have been better 9. Scarlet Witch vs Zattana is great despite its flaws 8. The one that shall not be named was generally fantastic with a bad death 7. Gogeta vs Vegito was a really satisfying finale, and I say that despite not watching Dragon Ball 6. Harley vs Jinx has a borderline perfect fight, but the analysis holds it back from top 5 5. Magneto vs Tetsuo slaps hard. Stellar analysis and fight 4. Bond vs Wick is slept on, I don't care about weird-looking models when the analysis, writing, and choreography slap so hard 3. Sauron vs Lich King is metal, the visuals, cinematography, and dialogue are all excellent 2. Spongebob vs Aquaman is pure gold, put a grin on my face from beginning to end 1. Omni-Man vs Homelander is in my top 5 death battles ever, incredible writing, beautiful animation, a banger track, a gory kill, a fun analysis, I rewatch it often

I’m curious if anyone knows the answer to this, but how sacred is Sun Wukong in Buddhism, because I see Sun Wukong constantly used outside of his religious context all the time in so much media so idk how to really view his death battle at all because of that. Is it flat out offensive or is it something else? I’m genuinely asking to learn more because I personally would love to learn more from this topic

Sun Wokong isn't really a "religious" figure, as Journey to the West didn't come out until the 16th century. From my understanding it's the other figure that is more controversial, as Hercules legend dates back thousands of years and is more connected to Greek culture.

I mean, Sun Wukong is an explicitly fictional character from a novel we know was written centuries *after* Buddhism's inception. He's been mythologized since but he's not a religious figure at all, not in the same way the Buddha is, at least. Someone like Guan Yu is also heavily mythologized and I'd argue has a stronger claim of being a religious figure, due to him actually having existed in history and the practice of ancestor worship in China.

As a former Buddhist, he's not really a religious figure at all. More like a folk character. It'd be more akin to using say Goliath in powerscaling rather than using Jesus. And even then Goliath's an actual part of Christianity

For my ranking for this season is: 17: Jason Voorhees vs. Michael Myers 16: Boba Fett vs. Predator 15: James Bond vs. John Wick 14: Scarlet Witch vs. Zantanna 13: Omni-Man vs. Homelander 12: Magneto vs. Tetsuo 11: Black Adam vs. Apocalypse 10: Jonathan vs. Tanjiro 9: Gogeta vs. Vegito 8: Trunks vs. Silver 7: Deku vs. Asta 6: Sauron vs. Lich King 5: Harley Quinn vs. Jinx 4: Excalibur vs. Raiden 3: Thor vs. Vegeta 2: Hercules vs. Sun Wukong 1: SpongeBob vs. Aquaman 11-7 was difficult to choice which one is better than the other of how good the episodes were.

Here is my list (I will be talking about... episode you don't want to as I didn't have that problem with it but I respect you not wanting to acknowledge it based on your own past history) 17. Spongebob Squarepants Vs Superfriends Aquaman - I admit there's only a couple of other people I know who don't like this episode as this seems to be a real favorite but sorry soon as they went into Superfriends Aquaman analysis going "wow this guy actually does suck Spongebob's going to murder him" That just soured so much of this for me. I mean the actual fight is mostly funny especially using Spongebob's bubbles and karate gear and Spongebob confusing Aquaman for Mermaid Man but there's just this weird feeling of cyncism and trashing an opponent I haven't felt since... what Shadow vs Mewtwo? But you know at least Shadow didn't out of character break down crying going "wow I suck compared to all these other versions of me" something Superfirneds Aquaman would NEVER DO. Quite frankly this was a baddddddddddddddd match up. If you are going to point out how ridiculously over powered Spongebob is thanks to to toon force you need a ridiculous level character to balance that out. Saitama vs Popeye was so good because yeah Popeye is also ridiculously insane with his feats but Saitama comes from a world where he is the super alpha league top dog who can't even be challenged so taking him out of his comfort zone is interesting. This just feels like a chance to diss Aquaman which I thought if even Robot Chicken moved beyond that joke shouldn't Death Battle by now? Ugh the fighting's fun but just the idea this was such an obvious stomp and the disrespect sorry make this my least for the season plain and simple. 16. Jason Vorhees Vs Michael Meyers - This seems like the most universal least liked episode but I do get it though this time around it's not because of the match up because it's one people demanded... I mean it is weird how it's jason vs Michael not Michael vs Jason since shouldn't the most popular character go first (and considering the recent movies that's Michael) but I was digging this one especially the campfire analysis being unique and love having bits with Ringmaster and Jocelyn. But then there's the actual fight which... when you know it's Michael and Jason clashing and exhcanging blows that's actually good but DB decided to be experimental and felt "you know let's treat this like a slasher movie of the two taking time out between clashes to slowly track down and take out extras" which.... who in the hell thought we'd want to see that for OVER HALF THE DEATH BATTLE? Look I get the idea of these fights is also to put us in these heroes world and set ups and have a tone that most parallels how they would act but we also want to actually SEE the characters fight. Like I get in Freddy Vs Jason the MOVIE where you had to spent time on the humans and set them up but this a 3 something minute DEATH BATTLE that should only be focused on the combantants. have quick examples of their murderous tendencies but focus just on the actual fighting. Seriously if there's ever Pennywise vs Freddy Krueger don't have half the match them trying to scare kids cause don't want that in death battle! 15. Tanjuro Vs Johathan Joestar - I think the bottom two are the only matches I'm probably more overly negative about as the rest do probably have more positives though I do feel these next few do have problems. The set up idea for this fight clashing feels off if Jonathan was so easily won over not killing Nezuko learning that Tanjuro was her brother then why not open just saying that. I get that we need a reason to fight and the reason in theory is solid enough but maybe Johnathan only believes it or pieces it together at the end or something. But that's a minor nitpick you know what really bugs me about this one? The fact that though we get a lot of really cool visuals of Tanjuro's sword abilities and attacks he barely does ANY damage to Jonathan. Even that seemingly heart stab was a miss that in the end Jonathan more over reacted on the idea not the actual hit. Like I'm not someone who needs both sides to each land the same amount of hits but the point of DBs are a back and forth so you aren't sure exactly who winds up winning in the end until you get to that blow. Typically fights are good at showing that and we've gotten plenty of other examples this season of every loser at least getting some sort of hit on the winner but this one feels like the exception and it does take away from the episode to me thus why this one's in the middle. 14. Excalibur Vs Raiden - You know the biggest problem of this death battle is? Honestly the fact that it's a "death battle." This was only made because it was a "sponsored" episode but unlike say the joke episodes or even the 7 Battle Royale so much of it feels like a regular episode. Granted it's not a very interesting or special match up but I'm fine with the idea of not every episode being about the most beloved or incredible characters ever and yeah Raiden's had a better more interesting match up and doesn't seem like a character who'd have enough but the idea still works. As this is a pretty decent episode... until you get to the bits that again remind you this isn't a standard DB episode from having to justify why on their supposed time off Wiz and Boomstick are covering this match up and making it this whole virtual reality set up where they actually interrupt the action to talk to the cast. Which like if this was with super meta characters could work but with how DB's been it just feels jarring seeing them in the battle and taking away time from the characters clashing. Not enough where this becomes a terrible episode as again the action itself is solid but mannnn if this was a regular episode they didn't have to pretend to not count in their numbering this probably could of placed a bit higher then it wound up doing. 13. Scarlet Witch Vs Zatana - Some people have a problem with too many Marvel vs DC battles but honestly with how many new heroes the shows and films introduced to the masses that offer unique possiblities I'm fine with and in fact hoping next season we get an Ant man vs Atom. This one though made sense to have Wanda take on Miss Zatara and honestly most of it works. Part of me thinks it'd have been funnier if Zatanna was stoping Wanda from hexing a DC town from a Wandavision esque setting but a magic show makes sense and you know when the scales get cosmic there are impressive effects and tricks and I do really like that Zatanna won since though both characters were omni verse level beings Wanda's the one who would tend to lose control and thus be easier for someone like Zatanna to counter. My big gripe is too much of the decently short fight is spent on them summoning other heroes to fight for them which.... anyone wanted to see that in a battle between these two? Other groups of heroes having their own skirmishes because yeah we got that for honestly wayyyyyyyyyyy too long like maybe an exchange or two but this for 30 seconds just doesn't work. Seriously save a Superman vs Hulk clash for a DBX episode not death battle itself. I know this seems like a nitpick and... it kind of is in a sense because yeah even at 13 of 17 we're getting into good episodes so smaller issues I take grievance is what makes this lower on the list. Which do mean most of the rest are bangers with only smaller issues that make them not the top of my favs this season. 12. Hercules vs The Monkey King - Oh hey it's Goku vs Superman round 3 this time based more on the myths that most originally inspired these characters edition where "Goku" actually wins, isn't that a novel concept? But seriously I do really think it's cool Death Battle is totally fine branching out and really thinking outside the box. Like what was the oldest character used before this one from like... the 1930's or 40's maybe? No this time we're going after some myths from hundreds if not THOUSANDS of years old and really delving deep into that history to present these characters and the idea of having the fight take place on a huge scroll with a narrator that breaks open more every time someone around is hit is really cool and I just appreciate the attitudes also given to these characters. Especially the prankster and goofy Monkey King who is kind of an asshole but a charming one and some good comedy even from Hercules being reminded of his own multiple faced creatures. Again I do feel most of the rest of these fights were really solid and have so much going for them with only a couple of kinks in the armor that may muddle one more and have it end up lower on the ranking. I think for me what deflates this some is that though I do still prefer Monkey King and am glad he wins I do feel like he dominated a bit too much of the fight with Hercules a bit too much on the backfoot. Not to a really obnoxious more noteable way like Tanjuro vs Jonathan but one I wasn't a fan of and though I don't think the finisher was bad especially with the narration... for beings defined by their relationship with god should of felt we had more displays of that raw power then the bit we had here. Still a good fight but yeah the other 11 just work for me more overall so that gives them the spot above this one. Which have to put in other posts cause youtube won't allow you to omega length comments.

PART TWO 11. Black Adam Vs Apocalypse - The two major complaints I have with this one is that it is one of the shorter episodes, but mostly Teth Adam's last line before he dies. A lot of people talk about how great the death is and how horrifying it paints out Apocalypse and how cool that camera break is and all of that is true but... I think it would click better for me if we didn't get a stupid comedy line of Teth Adam going "oh s***" before being crushed. Like it feels wrong of the character who throughout the animation and as described though being this hardened and morally grey individual has the dedication and focus to pretty much always keep fighting and will try and go to any lengths to protect his home. Having that betrayed in his last line kind of kills the moment for me and ruins some of the episode. Still the rest of it is pretty sweet. Again i don't have issue with unique Marvel vs DC match ups and yeah Black Adam was having a movie so why not get these Egypitan inspired antaognists who are shown to be ridiculously over powered against one another. And yeah granted even from the synopsis it was clear no matter how broken you felt Teth Adam was, Apoclaypse had so many more advantages it would make this more of a stomp but not annoyingly so plus I find a kind of sick irony in how Dwayne Johnson the movie has this no "I have to win every fight" contract with his characters to see said character get bodied so hard works well. And Teth still puts on a grand fight especially love the shots of them fighting in the sky and him using the lantern ring as there's a lot of cool moments here. And besides the one line the ending is great; I am glad that Death Battle cares about results not moralty so when a villain wins it gets to go dark and yeah the big speech Apocalypse had as he's tearing apart his victim is great. Granted there are better battles this season between comic book character and ones that feature either Marvel or DC characters but this one is still good so have to give it props for that. 10. Magneto vs Tetsuo - I'm not sure how much a detraction this is since it's probably supposed to be the intent but Tetsuo's transformed gigantic monster form is gross and unsettling to look at... which again probably means the team were doing their job but it's something you just WANT to see taken down on screen just because you don't like it which does go against a bit of the theme of being able to properly root for either party. You do also see Magneto get a fair bit more bodied then he probably should early on which on one hand makes sense for the battle considering you do want to see Tetsuo get some shots in but on the other Magnus usually in fights even ones he wins starts out on a higher ground more effortlessly flattening someone unless he's stomped throughout. Still I do feel this is a very solid match up. Sort of reminds me of Korra vs Storm and not just because you have a Marvel Mutant vs an "anime" character who they show some amount of respect to after offing them (and I think this one gets the characters down more though... you Akira fans will have to really tell me if Tetsuo is done dirty as I'm not enough of one to know for sure) but in the flow of this and how it's presented though the center piece not being flung to spirit world but rather having to face what Tetsuo turns into. But honestly Magnus gaining that ground and then taking Tetsuo out of his misery works incredibly well as a conclusion for this particular fight while still showing off the characters well and you know I do appreciate how most of these DBs this season do feature characters more willing or not caring about killing in some form so we're not having to see them tap dance around more pacifist kind of characters. Which is especially true of the next pair of characters.... 9. Boba Fett Vs Predator - You know you'd think the year the originally mandalorianed armor bounty hunter officially crawled out of that Sarlacc pit to become his own starring character would be his biggest win but then you'd have to watch the rest of the Book of Boba Fett and realize Death Battle much better captured that true few words yet still actually sounding cool and in control personality people fell in love with originally. Despite how awkward the "you are one dirty mother fucker" was worked in. I feel a fair amount of people if not sleep on this fight unfairly malign it due to how it ends which admittedly running away from the Predator's self explosion wasn't the greatest finale and could have been handled better but I feel the rest of the fight and analysis are really strong to make up for that. I appreciate how we are not only getting a full look at Boba for once (I guess now having more to draw on) and actually going with a super prime predator to show just how dangerous this hunt is... granted this is one of the Shadow vs Ryuko of the season where they do finally give a character a long earned win and I guess the remastered Samus battle had some faster moments of coregraphy but I really like the jungle setting and getting to get a full look at the two's arsenal and just the general set up of how this battle progressed. Plus as much as we love seeing some of these titanic powers going against one another I do appreciate seeing foes who really more on weapons and trickery and strategy also getting represented here. Admittedly there are far better examples of those characters down more on my ranking list but this is still a really solid example and again we are still in the pretty good range of fights just starting to approach greatness. 8. Deku Vs Asta - You know I'm in a weird position with these two characters; seems like a lot of the DB community knew a lot about Deku but very little about Asta. But I actually knew a fair amount of these characters... first few years of publication anyway. For whatever reason I sort of fell out of reading a lot of shonen jump series early 2019 so I did actually read a lot of the early material of both my Hero Academia and Black Clover to know how these guy's stories started and what their personalities and starting powers are (and especially enough to not be surprised anytime Black Clover ripped off Naruto cause that's what it's been doing since it started) but didn't read yet on Deku having other powers from the other users of the One For All Quirk or about the demon creature that Asta bonded in his black Grimmore. I guess that's spoilers for me if I ever do get back into these series but either way it did make the analysis here interesting seeing how far they came and honestly since both series are ending it does make sense to have their battle here... I do hope they hold off for Luffy's eventual death battle until One Piece ends but that's a discussion for another day. Honestly this is where in terms of overall specific to the epiosde complaints it's really hard to think of anything that takes me out of this one as I just really dig this battle. Hiaving it be a tournament set up works so well and unlike say Blake vs Mikasa where you have one stratetigst just mumbling to themselves it's nice hearing how both these guys constant talking to one another as per their shonen jump kind of aesthetic (which I'm not going to hammer an epiosde for if it's amusing enough and fits their aeshtetic. People like going on about the constant yammering in Lex vs Doctor Doom but... that is so their characters to a tee it's not even funny) and seeing the various quirks used as well as Asta's differing magic swords gimmick. I guess the tendril grab and smash is used a bit too much and there's nothing like personally epic really propeling this one to me personally to be say a Madara vs Aizen level fight but I do think this is otherwise such a good match with a solid conclusion not only Asta's line but Satan cowardly refusing to go against the winner. Like Satan will run from something if he thinks no one is watching or make up an excuse so that is in his character. Though speaking of Dragon Ball...

PART THREE 7. Gogeta Vs Vegito - You know outside of the length being a bit short and that yeah we really should of seen at least ONE fusion of Wiz and Boomstick in the episode (seriously that WizStick/BoomArd art will make itself but you can give the audience a bit of your own tease) I will say even as a huge Dragon Ball fan it is ridiculous there are THREE Dragon Ball related episodes in this season. Like season 2 also had three matches but had twice as many combatants and they also varied the species. These are all Sayians and hell technically All FOUR of the combatants are Vegeta or half Vegeta related in some form. And let's face it though yes Gogeta vs Vegito is one of those huge debates that's been going for over 25 years in the Dragon Ball commmunity... this was mostly done to FINALLY give Goku some sort of win in death battle. He couldn't take on Superman and possessed him couldn't beat Thawne so him and "Geets" (BTW I also think MasakoX should have been Goku here. I know they wanted someone different with Goku Black which fine that is technically a different person but at least one of the Gokus here should have been him if you still have Lanipator as Vegeta) having one of their fusions win out does give him a win and on the anniversary one when the first season finale and his first failure at getting one guess the irony is too good for the team. Still though the actual ep outside of that is really good. There isn't a lot of character to really analyze but I like getting a look not only at their abilities but showing the unique properties of the fusion to really demonstrate how close this battle is. And honestly the idea of Boomstick wishing for two versions of these characters just to have this battle is spiffy and the actual fight is really spaced out well. You do get a great sense of escalation and considering how both characters can be sort of silly but also drawn to battle you get a rush feeling their excitement seeing them try to top one another with various differing forms and I have to say as a big DB fan seeing SSJ4 and Super Sayian God Super Sayian clash with these guys is cool and yeah these guys being so close it was down to the wire but i'm glad Vegito pulled out the win since he's been denied them more and I love the logic of "Gogeta is made of the two having to be at the same power so at least on is lowering themselves but Vegito is made to draw out their best so it ultimately would have the edge." I'm sure this would play better as a not finale for a season with less dragon ball episodes (seriously we can take a break till like 11 or 12 for DB fights right?) but it's still really good. 6. Sauron Vs Lich King - You know this one felt really good to see after two episodes I had major issues with. Really to me the only thing that separates this from greatness outside of some hard to see elements in the batlte itself sometimes is the fact that I don't really care about Warcraft at all and so it's harder to get into it's history and my appreciation of Lord of the Rings is mostly in the movies not in the books but I still got enough from these characters to get to what their deal is and yeah really dig this battle. One thing I feel the show has really stepped up since season 5 is giving each episode it's own personality based around the combatants since with few exceptions a lot of the episodes in the first 4 seasons (with some exceptions here and there) would have comedy even for characters where it probably wouldn't have fit or kind of just feel like action fests but no this one is dripping with serious somber atmosphere throughout the entire fight without really any wit sprinkled in because these are not the characters it makes sense to do that with. You really feel their presence and menace here especially Sauron who I do remember from the movies but in most of it you just saw his gigantic eye form while here you have more of a body and specific personality to deal with and he just comes off as this monsterous force that when he claims the Lich King's domain you do feel that level of power. And it's not like Lich king was stomped around the entire time he did get some hits in but there's just this presence of his evil that I feel this series did a good job in really capturing. And honestly the aesthetics of the frozen wasteland being fried over thanks to holder of the ring's power and his voice just whirling around... so good. Really would be great if I was into Warcraft but still a high quality episode though yeah the next 5 are all great episodes and easily line up with the best of the overall show so let's get to talking about those ones. 5. Thor Vs Vegeta - And you know speaking of serious battles, I'm kind of shocked at how serious this one is. I mean considering how though elements of Vegeta Vs Shadow were back in the day it was still mostly a goofy affair mostly remembered for Lanipator's Vegeta calling Super Shadow a ripoff and easily blasting him to cinder and though I guess Thor's fared a bit better in terms of serious representation in death battle, he still had some wonky elements like that whole "i'll kill you dead" in his battle with Wondy. Plus yeah this was coming out the same year as Thor Love and Thunder which like it or not was Thor just at his most brazen silliest but yeah this episode didn't do that. After all the point here was about representing two super powerful hot headed yet ultra pride ful alien princely warriors who yearned for combat and proving their strength who had powers that could stretch even beyond traditional gods so showing that epic scale by treating this battle as this huge spectacle really works. And I really dig how this really does showcase just how powerful these two are and how much damage they can rack up on earth and even one another. Granted it does feel a bit weird thinking that yeah Vegeta in his Ultra Ego might match Broly who was able to decimate Hulk who in some variations is supposed to be stronger then Thor but Thor winning out in the end but honestly Dragon Ball and comic book power scaling is a wonky ass affair and so long as the explanation makes enough sense and you get a sense of both characters really delving into their all that's what is most important so this one really nails what's most important. Again I do feel Dragon Ball should be on the back burner (and I don't think you need a FOURTH battle with Thor here; he's hit all of his major opponents IMHO) but we do get either good or now great battles with those characters in this season and we'll come upon the greater one in time. First though... 4. James Bond Vs John Wick - You know one thing I haven't brought up that's been a big factor in DB for years are Boomstick's puns which can range to sometimes clever and sometimes gag inducing but are an obvious factor of his character. But quite honestly I don't think we'll EVER get a better example of his punnage then this episode where he literally found a way to incoperate every James Bond movie title (and John Wick but that one's a lot easier) into the synopsis and explanation in a natural enough way that really particular enhanced talking about these characters. I do hope there is only one James Bond related episode because of that since once you cover all of these titles, where else is there to go? That said the rest of this battle is glorious. Again I am a big fan of having not just the super powered beings clashing but more mundane fighters mixing it up as well so taking two guys from gun based action movies and having them fight is great. Plus this also has one of the most genius set ups with James Bond having to take out John Wick because of well him racking up murders throughout his life on orders of MI6. Like that just feels perfect for these characters. Honestly all the set ups of these great episodes really work for me and feel perfectly natural for the character cross over aesthetic but I just dig how naturally that makes sense. I also appreciate them going with a bit more of a snarkier Pierce Brosnan era kind of James Bond. Like this isn't the more serious or somber Daniel Craig bond but you already have John Wick representing that sort of more aloof and direct kind of character so I appreciate them going with a more silly but still capable bond here to better show off his gadgets having some actually funny moments like the clicking pen or the smashing ending. And this does have some great use of close quarters and gun play combat that perfectly fits these characters. I admit I mostly know of James Bond through pop culture and have watched all the John Wick films so I probably was more subconciously rooting for Wick but I have no problem with Bond winning because he would have more gadgets and even in a sense experience. Plus if you watched all the John Wick movies the guy hasn't won EVERY fight he's in and can be challenged and sometimes even stupidly allowed a chance to fight more and not just killed on the spot so I buy this being his time to die... see Boomstick made those kinds of puns work better then I ever could.

FINAL PART! 3. Omni Man Vs Homelander - Again I don't have a problem with stomp matches if the analysis and talks don't treat them as such. Like everyone who was requesting this who actually knew these characters realized "yeah Homelander doesn't really stand a chance" but the episode before hand unlike Spongebob vs Superfriends Aqua Man doesn't portray it like that, and honestly the idea of these much more violent seemingly heroic Super Man with ridiculous dark sides from super bloody but beloved adult streaming series doing more mature "deconstructions" on super hero just makes wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much sense not to do. Plus within Death Battle after how the Seven Battle Royale was handled it makes sense to do one showing Homelander get his shit wrecked in. Especially with the set up which yeah is the best of the season if not one of the best ones ever; in a world where these two heroes know about one another, Homelander would be enough of a pompous dick to make a point "yeah I'm supposed to be the strongest and best not you and I will make a bloody f'ed up point just to show how much I mean business" and show how that though upsetting Omni Man some, doesn't ever get him to a "THINK MARK" level because well how much lower he knows Homelander is. This is probably a Death Battle that if Omni Man fully tried could of ended it in a couple of hits at most but not only does he not really care about bystanders that much but wants to really showcase how much above Homelander he is by dragging it out some. And though not the longest episode it still does well showing the two's personalities and yeah this being like the best looking fully animated battle. Jack vs Afro and DP vs Mask are good but I feel the animation quality of this one really stepped it up and just having people in the background dying because of the effects is a great way of showing just how terrifying and terrible these guys are as it's not played off as a joke either. And yeah what sells this one as so great is the death; Like in some battles it makes sense not having one that really revels in gore and over the top brutality because it doesn't make sense for those series. My hero Academia and Black Clover can get bloody but especially with those characters it wouldn't make sense having the most over the top torterous kind of messed up death. This though is between Invincible and The Boys and knowing how messed up and bloody those shows are having that amped up by Death Battle means you need a good death and yeah this one certainly delivered that. Seriously there are probably few deaths in this show as messed up but brilliant as Omni man pulling out Homelander's throat after he already ripped off his jaw and forcing him to swallow his heart. What... a happy way to celebrate the holidays indeed. Still death isn't the only thing that counts in a death battle as if the rest of the episode flows better even if the death isn't as good I'll enjoy it more. Case in point for these two episodes... 2. Harley Quinn Vs Jinx - You know with how ridiculously popular Harley Quinn is (seriously if The Joker is his own brand now separated from Batman she is as well... still has to be marketed right for it to work in films but still) and her character I knew at some point she'd get her own death battle but you would need the right opponent to really work for her and yeah that's a big reason why so many picks for her never made sense to me. Like a popular one for awhile was Rosy the Rascal. Yeah an alternate Amy from the comics who was in like THREE issues who doesn't even have any wins or unique abilities just because she was also psycho and used a hammer. Like... no Harley Quinn is too big a character to waste on something like that but yeah felt like none of her Marvel matches made sense either so who do you go with? Well how about one of the stars of League of Legends who also just so happened to be getting a super popular animated series about them just like Harley had? Yeah I felt THAT was a good fit and that's before I saw the episode and oh my god I just LOVE how these two play off one another. In Joker vs Sweet Tooth despite both being insane homocidal clown themed characters there was still a difference in how they operated and how seriously they took everything which made for a good contrast but didn't have as fun of banter. These two are both so out there though and that really allows for a lot of fun bits. Seriously Harley calling Jinx's shark weapon a "traitor" after Jinx has it talk about wanting to blast her down is probably the funniest moment of the entire season and really just sells just how insane both these ladies are in the best way. Plus they take full advantage of this broken down circus enviornment from the roller coaster to house of mirrors to how that strong man bell game is used and I also love speaking of Joker vs Sweet Tooth Harley trying that bit with Jinx here but here NOT falling for it because yeah these ladies may be insane and out there but at the end of the day they are also supposed to be really intelligent and can read others well and I appreciate that being shown. So this is just a really fun episode top to finish and you know I have to admit in terms of probably overall best this may be like season 3 for a lot of people and something that peaks the season early. Not in a bad way as season 9 overall is really good to great but yeah this is a level of greatness most others can't achieve. And I admit the only one that does is because of who wins though yeah since that is the ultimate conclusion of that one let's talk about it. 1. Xeno Trunks Vs Archie Silver - So in case the fact I actually know who the hell Rosy the Rascal is, i'm a bigggggggggggggggggggggggggg fan of the archie sonic comics. Probably my favorite run of comics and the ones I collected for... like 20 years before they sadly stopped being a thing for reasons not getting into here. Point is I love how they have become their own thing enough to where Death Battle can now have them as a seperate canon even from other Sonic related worlds thus why this episode exists. See ever since Vegeta vs Shadow there's been a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE outcry from fans for there to be a sequel episode to that of Trunks vs Silver. However that wouldn't really happen regularly because with how they do their research now... there'd be no point. Like Trunks would just off Silver so easily since the scaling of Dragon Ball to the games Sonic is obviously overly tipped in DB's favor. However, the team realized thanks to Archie Sonic Vs Wally West Flash that the archie comics scale to a much more ludicrious and out there degree of what their characters can do and what their abiliteis and limits are thus why it actually made sense to do a version of THAT Silver and hey just to fully scale Trunks with more unique abilities and to show off his limits in a way that'd differ from just other Dragon Ball characters and their stories why not go with the one from Xenoverse who had a totally different storyline and challenges then regular Trunks did? Thus this actually allows them to explore different facets of worlds they've covered a lot before but in more unique ways. And then we get to the fight which I admit though great at first it wasn't really like top of the season material. Xeno Trunks chasing down Silver for his reliance on time travel? Good set up but not the best. Call back to Vegeta vs shadow with Trunks (voiced well here by Kaiserneko since I guess getting back him and Lanipator are easier then MasakoX but... enoguh bitching about that) calling Silver's super form a rip off? Funny but not the funniest. I mean the use of card heroes is a lot better then Scarlet Witch vs Zatana as it's only for one major attack and comes with a better joke attached and yeah the enviornment and area is cool but what elevates this one to the top? Well first off this has the best track of the season. Like I'm not someone who would elevate a DB just by the music playing during it but this is clearly the best of the season that elevates this one. More importantly though you think Trunks is going to pull out a win but then Silver goes "I told you it's no use" and plays his trump card and winds up taking out the super sayian time cop and... my god is that my epic cheer moment of the fight. Especially when seing that yeah Trunks normally wins EVERY vs fight that's been played out on youtube but not this one. And really I have to give the moment I cheer and applaud and love the most the spotlight. Yeah the death isn't as good as Omni man vs Homelander but I wasn't like super attached to those characters but Archie Silver? That's a different story. So yeah a bias pick but hey so is everyone else's and if you read all of this that's what you wanted to see. So that's my thoughts on the season hope the next turns out to be on this level... also hope we don't get another sort of spite match like what happened here.

Spectacular Spiderman vs Ash Ketchum the goats with rizz totally the most hyped battle this is a joke but I wouldn't mind this as a death battle would anyone also want to see this

This is probably my favorite season of death battle overall aside from a few episodes ( Gogeta vs Vegito, Freddy vs Michael) the most consistently good

Didn't quite reach the highest for me like season 8 did in terms of so many episodes I loved, but if Gogeta vs Vegito is the only one I would say was bad, it's doing something good.

IIRC, Nemesis is part Chinese, so naturally he wouldn’t want to see a being from his religion fight another character who apparently also has religions dedicated to him to this day (at least that’s what I heard). Which in my opinion is 100% fine. I mean, if Jesus Christ made it to death battle where he either killed or was killed, I wouldn’t want to talk about it because of my religion. So why should he talk about an episode that essentially does the same thing only with his religion involved
