I didn’t, I knew that normal Alucard couldn’t do enough damage, Level 0 made him die faster and DIO had hypnosis.

My favorite detail from the animation was that dio wasn’t able to use his eye lasers until he “drank” the blood of Alucard, a real fucking vampire

No matter who should win or how, this episode was just a treat from start to finish. The fight looks and sounds incredible, the lines are both funny and badass when they need to be, and it drips passion for both characters and the matchup in general. If they can do even half as well next time, we might even get the best Shao Khan depiction in years.

@@aion425 No, not really; Dio is more than fast and strong enough to take out all those lives in mere hours (if Alucard pops off Level 0, Dio can mow all those souls down in one go with Space Ripper Stingy Eyes, and his massive strength and speed advantage means he literally could kill Alucard millions of times over), especially given Dio is _WAY_ above those Nazis just by himself. They literally debunked the idea of Alucard winning with his extra lives in the episode itself as well as debunking it in the Q&A on Ultraguy's blogspot.

I was so worried it would be Dio being pathetically thrown around like a ragdoll and spouting JoJo memes before being killed in a humiliating fashion. Instead, it's an amazingly cool, dark, gothic fight that has a hammy, but completely badass Dio managing to do a total 180 when fighting an eldritch demigod, going from terrified and being thrown around to outmanuvering and working the environment around him to win. I love it so much.

I legit feel like Dio's portrayal is one of the most accurate character representations Death Battle has ever done; comedically over-the-top confidence and almost silly attack choices, but still very much a cunning tactician with nigh-unbeatable abilities and strength. Even when Alucard does catch Dio off-guard, Dio recollects himself almost immediately and turns the tables with a strategic use of his powers. Even the memetic Road Roller, as absolutely silly as it seems, is actually a strategic move since it allows Dio to crush and beat down opponents with his sheer power _while also_ putting distance and a barrier between him and said enemy to avoid a counterattack at the same time. The fact that Dio used the Road Roller right after witnessing the long-range Baskerville is a subtle touch since it perfectly stopped Alucard from feasibly counterattacking using Baskerville again while still letting Dio whale on him right then (as well as later using Time Stop when falling from Big Ben to drain Alucard's blood and put needed distance between himself and Alucard _and_ allowing Dio to use Space Ripper Stingy Eyes to take care of Alucard's soul army at the exact same time). Alucard's a similar case; he initially starts the fight using his usual tactic of taking hits and finding an opening, but when Dio's toughness and resourcefulness proves that won't work in this fight, Alucard is actually forced to switch tactics by going on the offensive with his army and extra limbs. His canonical hatred for humanity-disregarding vampires like Dio also prompts a predictable level of extra aggression and spite towards Dio, _especially_ since Dio was proving to be tougher to kill than anyone Alucard's ever fought (including Anderson btw), prompting Alucard to decide to attack up close in short-range rather than utilize his longer-ranged options... which unfortunately suits Dio and The World just fine due to that close range being Dio's bread and butter anyway. Notice how Dio dominates the fight starting from when Alucard lunges at him on Big Ben all the way to the ending when before Alucard had the edge when he used his long-range army and attacks, due to Alucard increasingly becoming enraged enough at having a hard time against an enemy he canonically would heavily despise that he forgoes his long-range attacks to fight up close where Dio has the edge, a subtle sign that Alucard indeed lacks Dio's strategic smarts that let Dio stay level-headed throughout the fight and ultimately win.

@@mrreyes5004 while I do agree with a lot you said Alucard himself was a tactician when he fought the Turks. I do believe his rage blinded him, as I doubt he would go level Zero against Dio especially realizing he could stop time. I believe that was an oversight on either deathbattle part or even Alucard himself. If Alucard would have never gone level Zero he could have eventually killed Dio and that's why they did not do it, all Alucard had to do was separate Dios head from him body then eat it. Which would have been far too boring.

Come on man they said at the end that Dio could kill Alucard 3 million times before Dio dies even once, Level 0 is purely for the animation factor and the fact that Dio killing Alucard 3 million times would either take forever to animate or be done with a montage which would ruin the high quality animation we got. Also you say that’s all he has to do, but Dio is 800,000 times faster than Alucard and can stop time, if Alucard even could get close to him Dio would stop time and move to an infinitely more favorable position, not to mention there is no guarantee Alucard has the strength to rip Dio’s head off because Dio has taken hits 40,000 times strong than Alucard can do, so he’d just be sitting there not being able to completely the rip and even if it start to rip Alucard is close enough for Dio to sink his fingers into him and just repeatedly heal and again that’s all assuming Dio let’s Alucard even try to rip his head off.

@@fieryvc8317 That maybe true however his gun jackal should have done more damage to Dio as it fires explosive rounds meant to cause maximum damage. Dio would eventually slip up before he could kill alucard that many times. I dont care hiw powerful Dio is he is still very human in his thought process. He would eventually make a mistake. Now if you put Alucard vs Dio after he killed the millions of souls not even Dio could kill him in fact I doubt the world could freeze time on him since he is everywhere and no where at once.

The funny thing is that Jotaro vs Kenshiro is what made me want to watch Jojo. I’m glad I did because Jojo is currently my favorite anime. Now that I’ve watched Jojo, I can easily say that Jotaro vs Kenshiro doesn’t do Jotaro justice.

The rest of Part 6's ending - which is actually some of the _best_ parts of Stone Ocean - were left untouched for anyone who saw this episode and wants to know more about how Dio's plans end up. **SPOILER ALERT FOR PART 6:** Even after Dio's will was passed on post-death, even after he put in so much work to achieve his universal state of "Heaven" with his most loyal allies and countless hours of preparation/plannin... the Joestars _still_ ended up foiling Dio. _This time, for _*_good._* Jonathan would be proud.

It was glorious and properly portrayed DIO and Alucard. Even giving Jojo a buff in their analysis. It was a huge step up from Jotaro vs Kenshiro in every way. There’s some minor issues I had but still a good time through and through. Props especially to the Voice actors for their wonderful performance.

What was the buff exactly The town level meteors seemed reasonable. I’m pretty sure they even showed the calc in the death battle I guess you could say the light speed calc was reasonable as well given manga statements and scaling. The World is arguably superior to Star Platinum. Star Platinum is superior to Stone Free(I’m pretty sure). And Star Platinum is stated to move at the speed of light. He also kept up with silver chariot with two swords and we know silver chariot cut hanged man. So I’m a little curious. What’s the buff?

@@Joker-tj9qz The buff is from comparing Jotaro's stats in the _Jotaro VS Kenshiro_ episode (which happened about 4 whole years ago btw) to Dio's stats here. In Jotaro VS Kenshiro, Star Platinum - which is equal to The World in strength and speed - was given relativistic speed just under the speed of light and a strength level around Large Building level. Here, though, The World is buffed to MUCH faster than light and strong enough to wreck entire towns rather than just single buildings, so Star Platinum (again, equal to The World) should be at those levels too. Just to be clear, the ending of Jotaro VS Kenshiro wouldn't change even if Jotaro & Star Platinum was given these updated stats, due to a bunch of buffs and techniques not even being used for Kenshiro back then either. I've seen some folks complaining that the ending of that episode would change with these buffs for Star Platinum... when, no, it would not change.

The best thing about the episode is that they revisited the stand stats and scaling which were ASS in Jotaro vs Kenshiro and they did Ken just as dirty so hopefully he'll come back as well.

Exactly. I've seen some folks complain that with the stats Dio had here (i.e. Silver Chariot now being hundreds of times light speed and Stone Free's kiloton meteor feat), Jotaro would now win... those people don't seem to know that Kenshiro was actually lowballed _EVEN MORE_ than Jotaro (Kenshiro scales to cloud-slicing feats _WAY_ above that of Dio's, has soul attacks to hurt Star Platinum directly, even actual fate control, etc). In fact, by the Death Battle crew's _own admission,_ they were basically forced to use only a _small fraction_ of Kenshiro's abilities and moves (since including them all would probably take about half an hour in a video just for Kenshiro's analysis alone). *_So Kenshiro would actually still win anyway,_* he'd just look even cooler doing it now than in the original episode. At best, if the cast did Jotaro VS Kenshiro again, it would only be an updated remake/remaster like Samus Aran VS Boba Fett.

@@hadouradiance3566 Yeah, apparently fate is a concrete and observable force in Hokuto no Ken like it is in JoJo, with everyone and anyone being subjected to fate and unable to truly change their predetermined destiny... _except of course the friggin men of Hokuto such as Kenshiro,_ who just passively hijack the universe by privately controlling their own destinies (there's even a scene where a fortune-telling priest very similar to Enya from Part 3 and Doppio's fortune-teller from Part 5 straight up tells Kenshiro that he can't read Kenshiro's future due to Kenshiro's powers allowing him to essentially write his own story independently of the universe's sealed timeline). Kenshiro even scales above Toki, who somehow summoned Raoh's Harbinger of Death via pure skill alone (FYI anyone who sees the Harbinger of Death consellation is fated to die within a year, something that should only happens when a select few are fated to look up and see it in the sky.... except for Hokuto men who can apparently just spam fate-decided deaths without fate's permission). Whereas in JoJo, it later becomes a _PLOT POINT_ that nobody, not even the greatest Stand users, can truly alter their own predestined path (heck, changing an incoming fate in JoJo is itself predetermined), so Kenshiro just having this alone gives him a _tremendous_ advantage considering Jotaro, for all his power, very much _IS_ still a slave to fate in his own story.

@@averagegamecritic Eh, that wouldn't work. Dio can easily just use The World to reach inside his body and yank Alucard out. And yes, Stands are repeatedly shown touching and grabbing intangible/noncorporeal things, from literal ghosts to shadows to other Stands that are phasing, so Alucard going intangible wouldn't help in the least.

Actually, you're wrong there; that's fallacious logic. Alucard's intangilibity _IS EXACTLY_ like a Stand's intangiblity (both Alucard and Stands phase through walls and objects the exact same way), while Dio is a different vampire from Alucard because JoJo vampires aren't unholy demons and are instead just humans with altered life energies, while vampires in Hellsing _ARE_ cursed unholy beings and not just enhanced humans. You're comparing apples to oranges, which doesn't work and is false. Like I said, Stands are shown touching a _TON_ of different intangible beings (Silver Chariot affecting noncorporeal shadows, Heaven's Door catching and subduing an actual ghost, Stone Free grabbing a Stand that was phasing through a wall despite Stone Free itself not being intangible when it grabbed it, etc, with ghosts and shadows being entirely different from each other, so an intangible vampire would be no different). There's still nothing stopping The World from just grabbing Alucard by his neck like a cat and then yeeting him from Dio's body; just because Dio and Alucard are different types of vampires doesn't mean their intangibilities work differently (by your logic, the air of their worlds should also be completely different which makes no sense). "he definitely isn't fighting at faster then light for every fight and I doubt he would be able to keep up his speed without getting hit for the entire day it would take to kill alucard." Incorrect again. The entire point of Jotaro VS Dio is that both were going all out with everything they had - both strength _AND_ speed - for nearly the entire fight to see which of the two similar Stands would come out on top. Also, as Hive pointed out, Dio's vampire body gives him limitless stamina (reminder that Dio survived being locked in a coffin at the bottom of the ocean for a hundred years straight and emerged just fine... so yeah, he could definitely keep moving at his top speed for hours and even days straight without breaking a sweat).

I feel like they forgot “bullets that stops vampires regeneration” Also, shouldn’t Al’s third eye let him see/sense The World? That’s how Kenshiro’s worked right?

I mean there are different types of vampires. The vampires Alucard is used to are the “Christian” vampires, where they are weak to holy things. DIO, on the other hand, gets his vampiric abilities from a stone mask from Mexico (Aztec) that was created circa 2000 years ago. So I don’t think “Aztec” vampires can be affected the same way as a European vampire would

1. JoJo vampires are different then hellsing vamps as they’re not effected by holy weapons they’d have no effect and would essentially just be dead weight they mention this in the episode and 2. Third eye needs to be consciously activated and isn’t full proof as it’s been fooled before (by the dandy man) so it’s not automatic their hypnosis cancels out (except the flesh bud shit) since neither have an immunity

They're analysis is off on a few points. 1:they said that it's cannon that Alucard can't have his vampiric powers and have the omnipresent and outerversal abilities of schrodinger, this is incorrect, he cannot have any other souls inside of him other than schrodinger(his regenerative abilities as well as his other vampiric traits are not contingent on souls) 2: they stated that Dio can hypnotize Alucard and force him to eject schrodinger, this is a baseless claim, Alucard has no demonstrated vulnerability to hypnosis or other mental attacks. I liked the battles entertainment value, and I think that's what was more important here, rather than getting the correct result. So it's all good.

This counterargument is actually wrong, and is fallacious; in Ultraguy's extensive Q&A of this episode on his blogspot (literally just type in "ultraguy dio vs alucard q&a blogspot" to find it), it's explained Alucard could be hypnotized because he _hasn't_ demonstrated INvulnerability to hypnosis. Just because a character hasn't shown that they're vulnerable to mind attacks _doesn't_ mean they actually _ARE_ immune to those attacks. By your exact logic, Dora the Exploror, Kool-Aid Man and Smokey Bear should all be considered immune to hypnosis solely because she also has no demonstrated vulnerability to hypnosis... no, that doesn't fly. A character not showing vulnerability to a an attack doesn't at all mean they are immune to it, only a feat of _proving_ to be immune is enough (an example being Booster Gold _proving_ to be immune to psychic attacks when he resisted a mental onslaught from Maxwell rather than simply never being hit by a psychic attack). It would be different if Alucard actually did show that he can ward off mind attacks, but no, he has none. Now, Dio ALSO has no shown immunity to mind attacks, but since he's way faster and therefore Alucard would have an extremly hard time just keeping up with him, it's way more of a non-issue for Dio.

What's funny going into the Jotaro vs. Kenshiro DB, they listed NO weaknesses for Kenshiro. They just described all of the badass stuff he can do and that's it. That's how I knew he was going to win

The animators at DB are popping off jeez. Let’s hope one doesn’t fuck up. But still props to all of the people working on this solid show

@@lucaswarriorteammining5786 It also confused me that they avoided schrodinger in a very weird way, Alucard didn't need souls to go to level 1 restriction, he only needed them to use his level 0, and even then they made his level 0 minions ghouls, not the "soul slaves" they actually are. If they were doing pre schrodinger Alucard, the powerful vampire souls he would have would give dio a run for his money. To be honest I thought that's what they were gonna go for, as they are Alucards version of a stand I guess

What pissed me off about Jotaro vs Kenshiro is the fact that Jotaro knows the exact limit of his time stop. Assuming Kenshiro didn't phase through the attack, there is NO way that Jotaro would miscalculate his chance at crushing Ken's heart.

"You want blood, you disgusting vampire!? Choke on your own!" "I want... _to rule... _*_THE WORLD!"_* 100% agree. The fight somehow bounced Dio and Alucard's abilities and fighting styles off each other seamlessly, while demonstrating how both are nigh-unkillable beasts; Alucard as an unstoppable eldritch demigod, and Dio as an immovable strategic monster. Even during moments when Alucard did frighten Dio, Dio gets his calm back pretty quick and then Reverse Unos by catching Alucard off guard (i.e. Dio recovering from Baskerville in seconds to dunk a road roller on Alucard, and Alucard confidently siccing his overwhelming army on Dio getting instantly thwarted by Dio stopping time and Space Ripper Stingy Eyes-ing his entire zombie horde in one shot), with an epic interplay between the two of them constantly having to unleash new tricks and abilities to keep the other on their toes while still maintaining their smug auras.

They literally pointed out how Alucard wouldn't do that because he doesn't know Dio would die in sunlight (since vampires in Hellsing aren't weak to the Sun), just like how Beast wouldn't know about Goliath's "stone-in-daytime" weakness. Also, telekinesis wouldn't do squat because Dio's vampire body and The World are both stronger than Alucard's telekinesis (lol Alucard's telekinesis could love a 0.65 ton of blood... that's cute, vampires like Dio can lift 20 ton road rollers, 60 ton boulders (stronger than Tarkus) and The World = Star Platinum which is stronger than the meteor busting Stone Free, so if Alucard tried telekinetically keeping Dio in place then Dio could easily just overpower it by walking to cover with his vampire strength or by dragging himself with the vastly stronger The World).

@@animeproblem1070 Simply put, Alucard wouldn't know to wait it out, and he couldn't because Dio being a vampire with The World to protect him means Alucard has no real openings to attack. If he doesn't use Level 0, Dio just kills him 3 million times over (which he can do thanks to The World's body-pulverizing punch-rushes, his freezing technique that reduces an enemy's body to particles including the heart, his own predilection of impaling people through the chest, etc), and if he does use Level 0, Dio just uses Space Ripper Stingy Eyes to get rid of all of the familiars in one go before dealing with Alucard himself. Game set and match.

@@mrreyes5004 dude even if the world is stronger than the telekinesis how does he break it name a method he could use like name literally anything that stops the telekinesis punching alucard doesn’t stop it killing him a couple thousand times doesn’t stop it using the world to pull his body doesn’t stop it and we don’t actually know how strong his telekinesis is because it’s not like he was struggling to pull the blood to him that was fairly casual to alucard and that’s not getting into the fact that alucard has magic to make himself intangible and no stands cannot hit him in this state that’s not a thing he also uses a magic method of mind control that dio would have no resistance to at all because dio has no counter to magic a single headshot from alucard is death for dio we know that his stands durability is not his durability he can’t take a headshot from a caliber that strong in part 3 especially because it explodes and rips pieces off of other regenerators like anderson who the jackal was designed to counter regeneration a headshot literally blasted half anderson’s face off dio in part 3 can’t repair that because he needed more joestar blood to acclimatize his body to the vampiric stuff he could heal but not his brain and he needed other people’s blood to heal fast enough during his fight with jotaro and dio can’t use alucard to heal his body isn’t made of flesh or blood it’s literally black mist held together with magic and his familiars and if he tried to drink from alucard that would be a bad idea because alucard can also just phase through him and them shoot him

I won't lie, I was a little upset that Alucard lost, but after hearing the explanation about DIO being a different vampire compared to other vampires, as well as the reason Alucard couldn't use Schroedinger's paradoxical existence, it made more sense. The fight was still a lot of fun, the animation was great, and to top it off, hearing Takahata saying Alucard's "The Bird of Hermes" line sent chills down my spine

Regardless of how salty I am that DIO won, this episode was simply chefs kiss. The animation, the voice acting, the 2D animation and even the analysis to an extent, everything was great. They incorporated DIO’s part 1 abilities well and there were some badass lines from both characters

Although if they go by Canon, Dio can't actually use the abilities since all of them are "body manipulation" part 3 dio can't do the body manipulation since if he can he would've got his cutred of leg with veins instead of needing someone to give it to him like it's a lost piece of lego. Anyway the freeze was him taking out the moisture from his body and the lazers were using concentratd "bodily fluids" so if Dio did what he did with the fight in canon he would be more dried than a man in the dessert

@@emmalion1976 He does way more than that in part 1. Jojo characters have more fluid in them than the average river. Also the flesh buds are body manipulation used in part 3. He just can't do it to the same degree as part 1 because Jonathan's body is rejecting him. If we assume a DIO who had the time and blood to fully control Jonathan's body he would have fully regained those powers.

I think Dio new Alucard was the king of vampires purely from stories about dracula he likely heard growing up in England, and pieced it together when Dracula ditched his modern outfit for his armor during level 0, or right after the "real fucking vampire" line since Dio knew about dracula as a legend beforehand

It makes sense. Dio is someone known for reading stuff and educating himself from time to time such as when he was reading the Qran ( i think it was it?) in the OVA. And considering Dracula is a pretty famous tale it wouldn't be difficult for to Dio to know of his existence.

It's kind of ironic that Death Battle made two amazing episodes from matchups not that many people cared about anymore (at least from my general experience, I'm sure there are still people who had these in their top most wanted), yet they did only a good enough job with a matchup that people in the community have been looking forward to for a long time. Not saying that's a good or bad thing, just find it kinda interesting.

The TJ Combo vas Balrog episode is just 'chefs kiss' and it's a matchup only a very select few people would care about (helps that it's using TJs theme throughout the episode)

The only problem I had with this episode is when the little black box in the corner said that if the sun were to come up during the fight Dio would just hide when Alucard would ABSOLUTELY NOT let him do that !

My only major complaint is they did the thing that usually do where they made a character immediately shed his Advantage very shortly into fight allowing him to be killed for the purpose of time constraints so they basically made a character go all out and shed their immortality when there was no reasonable reason for them to actually do so at that stage in the fight

Dio has infinite stamina. He'd prolly shred through Alucard's lives without tiring out. Alucard also doesn't have anything against Dio. If they didn't do level 0 it'd just end up being a Dio killing Alucard 3 million times montage. Either way Dio would've won there, at least the level 0 made things visually appealing

I like how DIO used his Part 1 Vampire abilities... ...But he NEVER uses them in Part 3. So it's unclear if he can still use them since Jonathan's body is actively resisting until he drinks Joseph's blood. Also they claim DIO could have used mind control to learn Alucard's weaknesses..Buuuuut they mentioned Alucard is IMMUNE to mind control due to his 3rd eye.

I really loved DIO vs Alucard. It felt like the team really brought their A game for this episode, and it shows. The analysis are solid, the editing is great as usual, the animation is fantastic with how creative & true to both DIO & Alucard they got, the song Hell Over Heaven is a banger, & finally; The research covered quite a bit from both camps. The choice of winner may be controversial, but the argument is pretty sound & has several pieces of evidence to back the claim. Overall, the vampire fight is easily one of the best episodes of the season for me. Deathbattle really knocked it out of the park.

1. Alucard isn't the kind of fighter to stall until daylight. He would just continuously throw himself at the opponent with everything he had until the end. When has Alucard every tried to win like that? 2. Even if he did want to try to stall, Dio would just dip and seek shelter until sundown, and go back to obliterating Alucard until he ran outta lives. With his abilities to stop time, freeze anything with a touch, actual flight (unlike Alucard's levitation), and the World giving his movements an extra boost, Alucard wouldn't have a way to pin him down when the sun came around.

@@shadowboy0126 Yea, that's some bad timing on Death Battle's part. It would've been nice if he held off from using it a bit longer, to make the victor a bit less obvious. Then again, from Alucard's perspective, he is going up against a vampire who has seemingly mastered telekinesis and teleportation to the point that he can decimate Alucard's body without even touching him. In that case, Alucard might be willing to Level Zero a bit sooner than usual, given that no other vampire has ever dished out that much damage that quickly to him before.

Absolute best Halloween DB episode so far! I am going to literally watch this and the other Halloween episodes with my family on Oct 31st.

Ngl, Ken vs Jotaro is kinda my favorite DB because I still see salt from it today

@@poliorice3600 I honestly don't know why others are arguing for EOS Alcard as literally level 1 Alcard can beat Dio even with them breaking the very lore they spoke of and giving Dio his freeze and eye beam. Alcard's blood isn't normal blood. The moment he consumes it Alcard consume Dio and all his abilities. WHY THE FUCK DO YOU THINK SCHRÖDINGER OFFED HIMSELF LIKE HE DID INTO ALCARD'S BLOOD. TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT! Dio's human body that gives him 'The World" can heal but only with blood. If he tries to consume random by standers, boom, level 0 Vlad take them all and Dio is only left with Vlad to 'finger' from. He's dead. Not to mention, that even removing that ability just means Alcard stays level 1 and wears Dio out till morning. I really don't think any of you understand That timestop doesn't help when you're victim can still fight as paste.

Really loved how the fight handled the dynamic between the two characters. It's like the animators knew that most people are expecting Alucard to win, so they did their best to make him look as big of an obstacle as possible, while had Dio fight like an underdog. Alucard just threw everything at Dio and Dio struggled throughout the whole fight, which made Dio's eventual victory feel super earned. I loved this episode so much. Also, I'm sure you'll do every Mario and Sonic episode one day.

This is probably my favorite death battle by far!

What a fun match! Agreed Nem, this battle and Goku black vs R. Flash are some of my favorite matches in a while 💜👏👏 Both VAs were phenomenal, and hearing the same actor who voiced kool aid man.. Did an amazing job with Dio.. I'm happy ☺️

This episode has easily become one of my favorites in the entire show. Good analyses, fucking stellar animation and oh my GOD Tom Schalk is amazing at voicing Dio. I also was very surprised by the outcome since I was expecting Dio to get steam rolled (pun intended) by Alucard's frankly absurd durability compared to his, but they actually gave what I believe to be an adequate explanation and aside from me not really believing that Dio could get rid of all three million lives outside of Level 0 there was not one bit I was confused by. 9.5/10

This Death Battle was heavily written in favor of Dio. They hardly mentioned Dios weaknesses and they wrote Alucard like he was a freaking idiot. Alucard has only used Level 0 one time and that was because he had to fight two armies at once all by himself. There would be no reason for Alucard to use Level 0 against a single enemy, especially when Alucard should have known that leaving himself vulnerable against an enemy as strong as Dio would have been a bad idea.

When Alucard fights he allows his enemies to do whatever they want because as far as he's concerned, nothing can kill him. If he were to fight Dio he would have to figure out another strategy. Also depending on time, by the time Dio would come close to 3 million deaths the sun would have come up.

That was probably a reference to the time Alucard shot Schrodinger in the mouth but the bullet went through Dios head. That should have knocked him out for a while. Dio can't handle serious head injuries. That was proven when Star Platinum punched Dio in the head so hard that he couldn't move and got nauseus. The only reason he recovered so well was because he drank Jonathans blood. Which has the same blood type as the body Dio was using.

@@terminalsarcasm you fail to understand how much faster DIO is. By the time Alucard could blink, DIO could’ve killed him literally a thousand times over. DIO is completely fine with head injuries, the only reason he was injured by Star Platinum was because Johnathan’s body was still resisting him. After he drank Joseph’s blood, this wasn’t an issue.

Regarding Alucard's personality in this fight: It's clearly inspired by Hellsing Abridged, which I relate to because I also like that Alucard more

The one thing that bothered me was Silver Chariot being MFTL, but after reading the blog post I kinda changed my mind about it. Also, it's really funny how many Alucard fans complain about him not having Schrödinger even though the episode EXPLICITLY SAYS why he can't have it.

Alucard wasn't ' unable to have his powers and schrodinger ' he just had to adjust to himself as a concept. That also would have taken away any speed advantage from Dio's end. They massively downplayed Schrodinger's powers. "Even if we gave it to Alucard it wouldn't help him beat DIO" Schrodinger can invade people's minds and be in multiple places at once, it would be a little hard for DIO to protect himself if he couldn't even see don't you think?

Also, Dio isn't exactly the big brain type to figure out that hypnotizing Alucard would solve his issues, he was more or less a brute strength type of guy; and Alucard was far more likely to use hypnosis (as well as being more talented at hypnosis, and highly resistant to hypnosis lmao). Also, even if a stalemate was caused, Alucard's ability from Schrodinger causes the stalemate, and in my eyes the person who has an ability that can force a stalemate is the one who technically won to begin with. Talk about giving Dio a pity prize.

Remember that part in the battle when Alucard literally shot dio in the head and that's how dio was actually defeat

I really like the part where Dio and the world are fighting back to back

One interesting thing to note is how DIO's iconic lines in this fight always seem to split the difference between the sub and the dub: *"Za World" instead of "Za Warudo" or "The World" *"Road roller da" instead of "road rolla da" or "road roller" (yes I know he actually says "I'm going to roll all over you!" in the dub but it's close enough) *Both "muda" and "useless" are used It's such an interesting detail to me that shows that they were trying to present the character in a way that all DIO fans would love regardless of which version they watched, and that's just one of so many reasons why this fight is one of my favorite DBs of all time.

This is one of the few battles that made me pop-off the death. I NEVER expect him to win. Glad my favorite vampire won. Also, idk why, butbit made me really hapoy the first joke on the dio vs alucard analisis of yours. "Theres nothing?"

Well tbf the research they used was actual dogshit for DIO. Something important to note is that Feats from season 1 Dio, are largely non applicable to Stand Dio, his healing power has been astronmically nerfed, he seems to not have access to any of his powers in addition to this, all that can be explained due to having Josephs Hamon body, who he had yet to merge completely with, nerfing his vampire powers. Blows that he would of instantly regenerated from, now do fuck off tons of huge damage to him with him having great difficulty in healing more serious injuries. In addition, they used his stands stats and his own as interchangeable, which makes no fucking sense, he's nowhere near the power of his stand or speed. This means the whole -Alucard gets speed blitzed all the time by base DIO, largely a non existent factor, with him only capable of doing that via Time stop or his stand. The difference between Dio And Alucard in this fight is that Alucard has 3 million lives to do somewhat decent damage on Dio once to gain a massive advantage in the fight, with more more varied tactics and experience in Alucards favour

one nice detail that was pointed out in the comments of the fight is that the time stop after Dio screams "THE WORLD" is literally 11 seconds long seriously, look at the timer when the stop starts till it ends

I hated this fight. Mentions Alucard getting Schrodingers ability in the analysis, he doesn't have it in the fight. The writer for this episode said that he was going to have Dio win. So I count this as another biased episode, because the writer wills it.

Definitely my favorite shots were the hand drawn shots of both characters looking over their shoulders to see the other (liking the first one with Dio more) and I was going into this with little knowledge of either aside fron Jojo part 1, memes and the Abridged, Takahata is Always amazing as Alucard, But Dio's actor (Tom Schalk) Steals the Show for performance, Jojo is definitely a Sub only anime and comparing the original Dub and This, I prefer this episode's performance in actually selling the character in translation

I’m so fucking happy that my second favorite anime villain and my second favorite anime protagonist had an episode this godlike. Pray the rest of the season is this good. Also future idea for a video: Best Voice Acting Performances in Death Battle.

I still stand by the thought of DIO winning probably being the biggest upset of the season. Not going to argue against Alucard losing, but rather how it felt like Alucard was so hysterically broken and yet DIO still came out on top for being even more insane. Still, these last few fights have been top quality. Hopefully that will keep going. I’m excited for the next fight since it is our first proper “winner vs winner” fight (not counting Ironman vs Batman since that was Batman’s fourth appearance and how he went into that fight with 1-2, and now sitting at 1-3). I’m looking forward to the fight (but that uh oh does make me wonder if I’m giving myself a bit too much hype for it).

At first I thought Alucard would win too. But I slowly realised DIO is almost the perfect counter to Al. After all, Time Stop is busted as fuck. Basically anything Alucard tried to do could be countered with Time Stop.

Still feel like they nerfed Alucard. He never reformed around his heart in the manga, his entire body can turn to shadows or a swarm of bats and pass through walls, his heart is never the "core". Also the Major and Millenniumm schemed for 50 years to trick Alucard into going Level Zero. Level Zero is not a trump card, it's a very risky last resort move that leaves Alucard in its most vulnerable state. He couldn't have gone Level Zero, since he needs Integra's order to do that. Alucard would've have been far more dangerous and unkillable at Level One. Just saying, not complaining, it was a fun battle.

@@HegeRoberto probably because it would've more fun to see him going level 0, cus they already explained that DIO can eventually kill Alucard's lives, but that would drag the fight way longer than their time would allow or the amount of sprite work and hand drawn animations would probably triple. Plus, only going level 1 would be severely underwhelming to see, so that's probably why they go with the level 0 route.

I would have lOVED if alucard had won that breathtaking fight. But no, that fight was so amazing that it didn’t matter who won in the end.

So my biggest issue is that Dio had access to the full compliment of his vampiric abilities, when Part 3 Dio doesn't have access to most of them, and his healing factor is severely reduced thanks to how he's taken the body of a Hamon Master. Yet they wouldn't give Alucard access to Schrodinger's abilities because that would also break the in universe rules for the fight. Plus one I just realized, they mentioned that Alucard's weapons wouldn't really be able to kill Dio being "Holy Weapons" and Jojo vampires aren't weak to that, but if Dio's brain is destroyed he would still die, hell Polnareff nearly kills him that way, and they have a clip of Dio's skull getting vented by Alucard's guns.

Some things: 1_Dio get his vampire powers back once he drain Joseph blood. He even show this by drilling his skull testing his regeneration power. 2_Destroing a vampire brain in Jojo doesn't kill him. Remember the one who become pure flesh and blood in a explosion? The brain is a weakness because a vampire use it to the same things as us like think or move the body. Destroying the brain (all of it, not only a part) make him useless until he gets regenerated. The only whey to destroy a vampire body in Jojo is Hammon, UVR, consuming or transmutation of ALL part of his body at the same time.

@@chara3906 I will note he didn't get the full compliment back from draining Joeseph, he regained a measure, and presumed if he did the same to Jotaro it would finalize it, he still couldn't use the eye beams for instance. Heck that was precisely his downfall was Jonathan's body was still rejecting him. Also yes they could be killed by destroying the brain, beyond Dio out and out stating it to be the case, that was a big thing regarding the Pillarmen that any non-sun based attack like Hamon or just the sun wouldn't manage to kill them, even reducing them to tiny pieces, and most importantly Jotaro managed to properly kill him without the sun or Hamon at the end of part 3, they just put his remains in the Sun to make sure he couldn't come back catastrophic damage can still kill Stone Mask Vamps.

@@Haloister I said that is the only way to destroy a Vampire BODY. Jotaro destroy his Stand and in consecuece his soul. Thats another way to kill a Vampire. Dio don't die because his body was chopped in half. He die because his soul does. His body is actually alive after the world gets destroyed. But dio is death.

This fight was so much fun and I love it Dio winning is epic It makes me want more villain vs anti hero/Villain it's so good

My favorite part of the fight was when Dio pops up behind Alucard with the classic Dio pose, the one he does during stardust crusaders, you know the one. The one where he flexes his star birthmark (I know it’s Johnathan’s, but Dio owns the body now), with his hand to his face, looking back. God that got my screaming.

The Dio sprites are from JoJo heritage for the future, most the sprite problems like TW being a beige color is just from the sprite itself, and DIO in the game does actually have the Joestar birthmark they just used the wrong sprite

I really enjoy your analysis, nitpicks aside, but I'm inclined to ask: Why don't you want Akuma vs Shao Khan? I'm super hyped for that.

I truly believe that Dio vs Alucard is an 11/10. Because when Nemesis covered TJ combo vs Balrog, he came out of it at first knowing nearly nothing about the characters and ended with him loving TJ. I came out of Dio vs Alucard as first someone who never even watched anime ever to now a Dio lover, and an anime lover. If that isn't a teste mate to how good this episode was then I don't know what is. I only just want to thank the creators of this episode for what they did here.

Dio,s analysis video is a whole commentry of roasting a iconic character in anime.

I'm really, really hoping the season doesn't peak here. Dio vs Alucard and GB vs RF are potentially some of the best episodes in the series and I'm really hoping they can match or even top them, at least for the finale. Regardless though, this season has been amazing. And this episode was near perfect

Time stop plus faster than light movement. Yeah this was a wieght class difference.

This fight sort of invokes the feeling of a video game final boss battle for me. DIO, the main protagonist, against Alucard, the insane demonic final boss monster. Throughout the whole battle DIO with his relatively simple moveset has to be on guard at all times to deal with the absolute insanity of what Alucard can do. Meanwhile Alucard is just having fun trying to dominate DIO, constantly stepping up his game to overwhelm him. Yet despite this constant pressure, DIO never once gets truly out matched, momentarily overwhelmed, but never enough to make him falter. Consistently pushing through and adapting until finally he is the one to take control and take the final blow.

This was a cool episode

I'm glad that they addressed exactly how Alucard can be killed considering his "immortality" has been greatly misunderstood within the VS community for a long time. What I don't like is that they didn't mention that destroying Dio's head would kill him. They explained how to get around Alucard's regeneration but didn't do the same for Dio. Kinda made it seem like Alucard stood absolutely no chance which I greatly disagree with. Besides that, it's a damn near perfect episode. 9.5/10 from me too.

@Filip Medak Every zombie, vampire and Pillar Man in JoJo died from ultimately having their brain destroyed. That's the reason Dio tried to save his head from melting and why Esidisi did the same with his brain. Straizo survived because his head was blown into pretty sizable chunks which could be pulled back together but even Alucard's Jackal is capable of completely liquefying his opponent's head, as seen when he shot Anderson in the face. On the other hand, there is no other example of a character dying because their "Stand was destroyed". The World's head got obliterated which did the same to Dio, killing him... sorta, I mean, they still had to melt his body to be sure. Point is, he couldn't regenerate from that so he was effectively dead. Edit: Oh, and Dio didn't get melted by the fire. We clearly see him later with a charred yet full body in the rubble. The "melting" was just a storytelling thing to make us think that Dio actually died.

@@mistman_161 they only died of their head getting fucked up cause they where being hit by hamon which is the weakness of vampires. Starizo took a space ripper stingy eyes to the head and brain yet didn't die . Narancia almost died cause Aerosmith's wing go torn apart, mista was injured cause a few sex pistols got hurt, and that beetle stand user died cause kakyoin ripped his stand apart.

@@mistman_161 Except...Dio was still alive after getting his head destroyed. They clearly state this in the ambulance after the fight, it's why they put him in the sunlight to finish him off. Head damage just slows the regeneration

@@ARC--5973 I admit, I sorta forgot about that but I did say they "sorta killed him". He may not have been actually dead but he couldn't regenerate from that by himself so he was effectively dead. They didn't seem to be in any rush to melt him, and he didn't regenerate at all in the at least an hour it took them to drive into the desert and wait for the Sun to rise. We've never seen a vampire or even a Pillar Man straight up regrow a body part, they only reattached them. So, by all accounts, Dio couldn't have regrown his head unless someone dumped a crap ton of blood into him, I guess. Besides, even if he could regrow his head, at that point, Alucard could just drink his blood, absorb his soul and destroy it. Or leave him there for a couple hours until the Sun rose like Jotaro and Joseph did. So, in the end, he's just waiting to die once his head's destroyed.

@@mistman_161 I agree. It's just a common misconception that Jotaro killed Dio. Granted, Alucard would have to damage Dio's head to begin with, and his ability to do that is debatable

This episode has my favourite conclusion of the series , 9.5/10 well deserved

Cool fight BS ending ...according to them just about every body has "lightspeed" hate fights coming down to ass pulled numbers and also tired of giving one side all their combined powers and forms while nerfing the other side ...Part 3 dio didn't have his eye lasers or freeze powers and if it was part 1 dio the fight would've lasted like 5 seconds ...even with the world Dio has no way of killing alucard

This. The fact that they reduce Alcard's familiars to just zombies is just gross. The fact the act like Alcaed's Blood is just normal blood. The fact they treat his guns as pointless because they've been augmented with holy water/ blessed metals ONTOP of being super fucking damaging weapons. Soooo much nerfing and while boosting his opponent and the have to admit Alcard could still nearly win under such broken uneven standards. This is why I'll refuse to watch the joke of an anime that is Jojo's. The fact that a character can get such power from a mask than stealing a body is just retarded that even OPM seems normal by comparison and that is literally meant to be a joke!

10:00 you missed this, (most likely not fully knowing stuff of Jojo but) it's actually kinda cool and and faithful to the series showing Dio powering up from absorbing the blood flood (bars)

While I didn't like the battle much, I loved the setting and how they used the clock tower as part of the fight instead of just a background element like Jotaro vs Kenshiro.

@@luketfer I don't think that it needs to be remade but it would be the most extreme 180 if it happened as Doomguy now would stomp MC. However Sepharoth vs Virgil 2 would be the most interesting as Virgil is now upgraded to universal levels of power as he can match Dante making this fight more interesting.

1 more minor issue In one of the drawn clip Dio doesn't have his dots

Tbh I can’t believe you didn’t point out how in the first shot it shows the world winding up with his right arm but on the zoom out it’s his left . Still for me 11/10 episode since it’s my favourite death battle and it’ll be for a while

The only gripes I have is Dio feeling more powerful than he should be and being able to use both his part 1 and 3 abilities. Some of his part 1 abilities got locked since he took Jonathan's body which actually made him weaker due to Jonathan's body even after death constantly fighting Dio. That's what you call dedication

Hell even then he thought his stand would be more than enough and just never used his vampire powers (besides sucking blood) again. Albeit he died but still.

Which is why for some reason they didn't use the strongest version of alucard.and even then it's breaking character because at this point Dio saw no real point in using any other vampire power other than blood sucking because he was so confident in the world's abilities. Also even then doesn't he also need Jotaros blood in order to gain full control and of his vamparic powers and not just his body alone

@@Kiko_mirai just wanna throw in my 2 cents. 1) His powers arent locked off at all. As a matter of fact, we see him use a ton of his vampiric abilities. Super strength, flesh buds, regeneration. its odd to believe that theres a difference between flesh buds and space ripper stingy eyes when they're made up of the same thing, that being his own DNA. its more reasonable to believe that his powers are just weakened, not locked off entirely, which might be one of the reasons why he didnt use them. 2) He didnt see a reason to use his vampiric abilities against Jotaro since he didnt see Jotaro as that much of a threat and the last thing he'd want to do is expel his bodily fluids on someone he doesnt need to use his vampiric abilities on. No, the vampiric abilities would not have helped. SRSE would be blocked just like the knives and the freezing ability requires for him to touch Jotaro directly. not his stand. He likely wouldnt want to stop time and freeze Jotaro considering the fact that he didnt want to get close to Jotaro until after he sucked Josephs blood and after he did that, he was so full of himself that he likely saw Jotaro as nothing more than an annoyance and completely underestimated him. DB didnt break continuity with having him have both his stand and his vampiric abilities, although they should have weakened SRSE quite a bit but that wouldnt have mattered much anyway even if they nerfed it

i would give it an 8/10 because during the bit with dio and the world fighting of the zombies all of the blood from the ground dissapears but overall i agree

In my opinion this is a 10/10 episode all the flaws are very minor

Dio, the only character who is MFTL, yet is scared of sunlight, and the only city buster who can punch a road roller as hard as he can without damaging it.

I thought Alucard should have won this (at first) but after the animation and the ending analysis its been the only time I changed my opinion on who should have one from DB alone. They even said that at first the animators where confused that dio won but the voce actor for wiz wrote like a short essay on how dio actually wins. This has been my favorite DB so far and honestly this season in general imo has been rlly strong

I read DIO's Vampire King line as him acknowledging how good of a fight Alucard put up while also proclaiming himself as even more powerful than he is.

It kind of had to be this way. Dio lost the dbx fight so it would have been kind of a waste of time to have the same outcome, even though the dbx outcome was more realistic imo. Alucard never really had to go level zero. He never used it against any of the other vampires he fought in Hellsing until the end, and I think he would have regarded Dio as just another one of those fodder vampires, not worth going zero against. In a war of attrition Alucard would have won, after all Dio got killed by just a simple hit from Jotaro in the end of Stardust Crusaders, not even a haki infused hit or anything special, so why wouldn't simple damage from Alucard eventually kill him? But like I said, it had to be this way.

That's a misconception. Dio didn't die from Jotaro's attack (and even if he did that's a fist with enough force to demolish a town. Don't think old Al can do that). Destroying his head slowed his regeneration significantly, but he was still alive as stated while in the ambulance

The next argument I have against this fight was that wiz said that even with Alucards soul based regeneration, Dio could have killed him 3 million times in quick succession. I think that statement is pretty farfetched. That would mean that if he killed Alucard one time every second, then (according to the math: 3,000,000 ÷ 60(seconds per minute)÷ 60(minutes per hour) ÷24(hours per day)) it would have taken him 34.7 days to do so. I don't know if it's ever been stated, but I don't think Dio is just completely immune from exhaustion, so him literally killing Alucard over and over for 34 days straight sounds pretty unlikely. Plus he'd have to stop every time the sun came out. That being said, had Alucard not gone Zero right away, Dio would have eventually succumbed to his wounds or sunlight and died.

@@CAdeadman The other issue with ALucard's respawn is if he never mentions there's a limit and you kill him 1 million times and he keeps coming back who in their right mind would continue? You'd try other stuff besides punching him to death. You'd try to trap him, try to put him in a situation he can't respawn from like maybe throw him in lava or some bs. Why would Dio just go 'y'know this hasn't worked the last 1 million times, but maybe if i do it a few million more it'll work'

I expected it to be a bad one and it is a Top 10 in my book.

I can understand Alucard having no counter to The World, but I completely forgot they did the math during Jotaro vs Kenshiro to figure out DIO’s top speed and reflexes. Then they did the strength feats and I understood where they arrived at.

This episode was good enough to get me to watch Hellsing Ultimate. I saw Abridged a few years back but later on I had it just in the background. Funny thing is before I saw it, I assumed from how people responded that they got the conclusion wrong, but now that I've seen both I can absolutely understand where it's coming from. Nothing that the restrictions before zero can really do to DIO to put him down, and entering Level Zero inherently makes Alucard more vulnerable though with a massive power projection. The advantage therein being that a massive wall of dead people and blood should keep most reasonable people away, but considering DIO's stats and beyond that just the fact he can bypass having to deal with it by using timestop really negates that advantage. Plus, as they said in the post analysis, the Space Ripper Stingy Eyes or whatever the fuck could effectively deal with most of them really quickly, especially if used horizontally on ground level. I know this video isn't really a who would win analysis of the fight just kinda wanted to say how it was good enough to make me watch the series I hadn't actually seen and then appreciate it more.

Only thing that pissed me off was that they spoiled Part 6's ending and fucked up the explanation of what actually happened, so when the anime actually gets to it, it'll make people misunderstand. That ending already is notorious for making people think its some pessimistic shit ending that resets into Part 7 which is just blatantly wrong. Also the explanation that DIO could hypnotize him is bullshit, Hellsing Vampires third eyes are explicitly shown countering other perception manipulation and theres no reason to expect Alucard would be any *worse* with it.
