Lol how about all his friends he used to party with and the fact that he had video cameras set up to livestream to the dark web? He’s been doing it for a long long time and the women who he ‘let loose’ were put into trafficking rings for the most part. Most people don’t bother looking that deep into this case though.

Patty Rust's suicide made this case even more insane. Even if it wasn't a direct result of what she witnessed while documenting that torture chamber, it was obviously the last straw that pushed her over the edge. For the FBI to say that what she documented had "nothing to do" with the suicide seems pretty off the mark.

She could have done the right thing and run away and not have anything to do with her monster of a father or his sick and depraved ways. Instead, she chose to join him as an active participant in his heinous acts and became a monster, herself. This was a very difficult one for me. My girlfriend, who I love dearly, was held prisoner by a man similar to this when she was in her late teens/early 20’s. She doesn’t talk much about it but she told me that she was either going to escape or off herself one day. She stole his phone and called her mom, who didn’t believe her at first, and when he found her he choked her till she passed out. Then we she woke he slammed her head against the floor a dozen or so times giving her a concussion. He likely *would* have murdered her if she hadn’t convinced her pos alcoholic mother that maybe something was wrong. I don’t know what all he did to her. It certainly wasn’t as bad as what happened to these poor women but it was obviously quite terrifying. My girlfriend is small and petite, weighing about 95 lbs soaking wet and wearing boots and she was smaller then. He kept her locked in a trailer, high on dope, and only fed her when she begged for food. It sickens me. He only went to prison for 2 years by the way. So he’s out walking the streets of Missouri somewhere. I don’t know the guy or I might literally try and seek revenge. I’m quite heated just talking about it. My lady is a cool, sweet, beautiful woman and thinking about someone hurting her in any way makes my blood boil. I don’t get it. What the fuck kind of human could do anything like this? Monsters truly do walk among us. Please be careful out there. Do what you have to do and never, ever stop fighting.

Well I had Cindy Hendy at my prison and to be 100% honest she wasn't all there. When she would look at you she would have this weird look on her Face. She ended up getting paroled before I retired.

Wait let me put that so you understand how badass she is. She made friends with a man who chained her in basement, did all the usual evil to her, stuck screw drivers in his victims ears to make them deaf so they couldn’t speak to each other and escape (unsuccessfully), and fed her one of the other victims… and she got that dude to trust her, escaped, and saved the remaining living victim along with herself.

I was in prison with David Parker Ray when he died. I was in Lea County Correctional Facility in Hobbs New Mexico in 2002 (I’m a different man now, but I made poor choices when I was young). I remember the year because I was in jail when 9/11 happened in 2001, and went to prison a few months later. I recall it was around summertime, there was a big thunderstorm, and we got put in lockdown for an unexplained reason. I assumed due to the storm, power concerns or something. It really sucked because the Kings vs Lakers series was on, and it was a great one. I’m not sure which game it was but somewhere in the middle of the series. I had to watch the game from my cell which was probably 50 feet from the tv, and they were pretty small TVs. So I listened to the game on my Walkman which could pick up tv channel audio. The next day I found out the reason we were on lockdown was because David Parker Ray had arrived at the prison that day, and died from a “heart attack”. I don’t know anything for certain, but Hobbs was considered a “Gladiator School” at that time… and considering what inmates think of people like him, I always thought it was a little too coincidental that someone like him would die the day he arrived, and it would be from natural causes…. But who knows. I do know that given things I saw firsthand in there, things can definitely happen to people, and not everything is what it seems.

Ray was one of those men who couldn't function with a willing partner. Having been in the BDSM scene for almost 20 years, I can tell you that I met a lot of very nice men with sadistic streaks. But the difference is that those men only wanted willing partners. Ray might have said in his infamous tape that he wanted his slaves to be compliant, not scream or fight back, but the reality is that he was planting the seed in his captive's brain to do just that. He probably loved the terror, anguish and desperation of his victims. Most of these types do. Even more than the sexual activity, this is what gets them off. Glad Ray is dead and burning in hell where he belongs.

I am an avid consumer of true crime content. I have seen probably more deaths on film than the average person. I am highly desensitized because of that (+American culture +tv violence). Of all the true crime history across the internet, these tapes are hands down, the hardest thing for me as a woman to listen to. Off the top of my head I got through the Sarah Boone suitcase videos easier. What you are hearing is literally the worst thing that can happen to a woman, be told it’s going to happen to her, to heighten her terror, in real time as though you are her. Knowing another woman heard this before, before he goes through with what he describes on that woman. More than one… “unspeakably evil” is a common phrase, but what about “unlistenably evil”?

It's one thing to hear a forensic profiler say that sexual sadists don't care about the thoughts and feelings of their victims, but to hear it said by an _actual perpetrator_ is chilling.

It is disgusting how people can be imprisoned longer for selling voluntary substances than accomplices for torture, imprisonment, and murder...

This case was just about as horrific as it could get, and the FBI agents suicide was just horrible to hear...The things these agents see i have no doubt that it played a huge part in her suicide. Even worse her comrades did not seem to respect her death.

@@ala-freaking-bama1750 Thank you so much for all you have done for people over the years. I have no doubt your field of work was just as mentally exhausting. My grandma had lupus also, so i kinda know how bad it can be. I hope you find a good way to manage it. I wish more people could find an outlet to talk about these things. I will always be a ear to lend for anyone.

There are drawbacks to having a modern legal system. When sentencing becomes standardized, it makes it impossible to properly address what you might call a special case. If you brought something like this to something like a king or emperor or something, they would have the ability to take more appropriate measures. Not like it should be common, but available. Because the way it is right now, this person should never be arrested. You go and get him, everyone understanding that under no circumstances is this man to be taken into custody.

What an absolute gem of an episode. You did such an excellent job of presenting the content and sharing the information. I can't begin to imagine the horror. I hope the survivors can find strength to continue on. Thank you, Jiles!!!

I've known about this piece of sh*t for years, but I couldn't resist watching your version of it just knowing you'll have more details I didn't know about. As usual, you didn't disappoint. I didn't know about that poor FBI agent... bold of them to say it had nothing to do with what she saw. There's so much brutality one can comprehend, and this depraved individual obviously went off the charts. I'm sure she just couldn't live with those images in her head. RIP... He's always gonna be one of the sickest men that ever walked the earth. Thank you for the great footage and narration!

I doubt she could see images in her head it's more to do with emotional overload if you're an empathetic person. Even a hardened cop or agent can break sometimes randomly sometimes it builds up. Imagine her taking pictures of a crime and its nothing just another job then suddenly it hits her... maybe tens or hundreds of people felt unfathomable despair in the area she was standing and they were just normal people. Emotionally the absolute dread and terror hits you as if you were a victim and it's soul shattering. If you've seen the Hannibal show you know how crime scenes affect empathetic individuals

Cases like this make me wish hell is real and David is suffering unfathomable never-ending torture right now. He's the definition of wasted air since the day he was born until he's capture ans death. Truly a monster, so much so that it's shameful to even think of him as a human.

Patty Rust's suicide is so terribly sad. If being in there for 5 days just documenting it can do that to a person, imagine what the victims feel. The audacity of the FBI to say twas unrelated is staggering
