Just reviewed your videos and I was pleased to see you were intrigued with Diana Ankudinova, as was I, even though I was most unhappy with everyone going gaga over the tommee profitt dark version of can't help falling in love. More of a vocal exercise than singing a song. I do want to mention one other vocalist who has been on the scene for the past twenty-five or so years, mostly with several bands, the most recent being the very popular (in Europe mostly) symphonic metal band Nightwish. This was not where I first heard (oh - haha - her name is Floor Jansen) her sing which was the beginning of her solo projects. The first was a rendition of Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort and the second which reached my core, a solo of the song Shallow. Both were on a Dutch show, Beste' Zangers in 2019. Look, she is not exotic like Dimash or Diana. What she has in spades though is a mastery of her instrument. Not unlike Lara Fabian but with a more broader range of comfort in different genre's than Lara. You might find in your comment section, most people who talk about Floor do it in the same breath as Nightwish. Huge fanbase. And while they are very talented, I like Floor more along the lines of how Diana does it where the focus is on her, and not in competition with her bandmates. Live versions are so much more organic than recorded music so I'd point you in that direction. Just to give you a slice of her solo projects I'll post a list with links. (and look, the bottom line is this, I don't really care if you don't react to her, but you would be cheating yourself of someone special if you don't take a listen if just for yourself.) So, to promote Floor I'm going to take the liberty of posting a selected playlist of live performances that I consider the most enjoyable for me from her catalog of solo projects. 2019 - Beste' Zangers Solo cover of "Shallow" (Lady Gaga) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2ps0sdtkcKfqs4.html Duet cover of "Phantom of the Opera" w/ Henk Poort - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqB3tcWjpqe1erA.html Classical, cover of "Vilja Lied" in German - kzread.info/dash/bejne/npeAqZeRYcyYgbA.htmlsi=HUiy9AYavOrwSANH 2021 - solo Amsterdam Concert **You will find these are from her channel and the entire concert is there, professionally taped provided by her fans through crowdsourcing** "Storm in a Glass" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZWsl9CMgKWfpJs.html "Slow, Love, Slow" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/lHZ7mqmdqa-_dM4.html "Nemo" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5mWypaNpbPFiMo.html 2022 - Singles from her 2023 released solo album. Really enjoyed this reaction Sir Hairless! I'm a PMJ fan. They have done some brilliant, different covers. My favourites are probably Seven nation army, take me to church, all about that bass, Bad Romance and many others. They do 20s, 30, 40, 50s, 60, covers and others. Always with a cool twist. Look forward to hearing more reactions to them. I think you will enjoy doing them because they are musically very interesting.

Haley was new to PMJ, so their fans didn’t know what to expect when Haley first asked to cover PMJ’s Creep arrangement in Lyon, France (the video is in KZread) It was the crowd response at the end which was what convinced Scott Bradlee to do something he’d not done before, re-record covers he’d already covered. So a few days after Lyon, they entered a Zurich studio in their day off and re-recorded Creep & All Bout That Bass & another cover (Haley participated in all 3, the 3rd song as a back up singer). Both the reimagined Creep & All About That Bass are #s one and two most viewed videos on PMJs channel. Haley’s PMJ covers make up most of PMJs most viewed videos. Don’t Speak was Haley’s most recent PMJ collab after a five year hiatus

I love the ‘jazzification’ of songs frequently present in the Postmodern Jukebox performances, and Haley surely delivered a beautiful and classy version of the classic ‘Creep’! It was wonderful to watch your reaction full of surprises and emotions, as well as your great discussion packed with juicy information. Another Postmodern Jukebox performance that deserves a future review is the duet between Haley and Puddles Pity Party performing ‘Mad World’ (I hope you’re not afraid of clowns because Puddles Pity Party is a very cool clown with a super-rich voice and a peculiar stage presence that I appreciate - another one by him that I absolutely love is his cover of ‘Royals’). Thank you very much, Sir (and the Patreon who suggested it)❣

That Mad World with Haley & PPP led me to PPP with PMJ covering Royals… which was my gateway to PTX Royals as the algorithm suggested… and then that led to Hallelujah and the deep dive into Pentatonix and associated tributaries If you can get past the 🤡 part, his voice is so rich and nice… quite liked his Sia cover of Chandelier too!

Thanks again for this music lesson. I really didn't know why I liked this version so much, I always thought it was because of Haley's voice and especially because of the modifications they had made to the song. I think that at the end of the day it's everything as a whole, every detail is very well taken care of, because the black and white presentation with a distribution of the musicians, very "50's", all this transports you to that atmosphere. Regarding your analysis, as usual, superb, you make us notice details that, although we enjoy them, we don't really realize that they are there, so, as I started, thank you very much.

Haley's high school music director noted when she was on Idol that "she's been exposed to a huge variety of music her whole life, and it shows comfortably in anything she attempts to sing." Her parents have had a band all of her life that plays classic rock. Her father was also in another band that said of him: "everyone will hear a lifetime of devotion to the blues, jazz and rock in the incredible, emotional guitar playing of Harry Reinhart." Haley was the first vocalist for her high school's jazz band, which performed at the Montreux and Umbria jazz festivals. She also studied jazz piano at a local community college before auditioning for Idol.

Haley and PMJ are an awesome combination! As far as I know, their covers are recorded live, usually in a single take! My all-time PMJ favourites are 'Don't Speak' with Haley, and 'All About That Bass' with Haley, Morgan James and Ariana Savalas (daughter of TV's 'Kojak'!). Haley was brought up in a musical household, and her father taught her to 'scat' from an early age, so she's very comfortable doing that! By the way, there is percussion in the beginning, the drummer is playing very softly with brushes - it's a kind of running joke with PMJ that he's usually hidden behind the singer/s..! I'm so looking forward to seeing PMJ in my local theatre on 3rd May as part of their current tour! 🤩

Maybe Sweet Child Of Mine or anything she does by Prince. I'm telling you, stone cold diva! PostModern Jukebox is just so cool, they always have a fresh take, totally remake songs you know into something totally new. I love them! The formula is big band remix with a stone cold diva, it's just always a treat. And Hailey is amazing, that's not the first time she's done that scatting, she was so comfortable in that pocket! That was hot Haley! She did 7 Nation Army with PMJ too and it lives on repeat on my playlist. So glad you found them!!! More please!!

As you are getting in to Voiceplay, it would be nice for you to compare their version of this song. It is my favourite version. Liberty's now. If you could listen to one of Dimash's shorter songs. I enjoy noticing every reactor smile at the scat. But it is almost only the female reactors that are startled by how low Haley goes on the last "weirdo" - presumably because they inherently know how they would sound trying that note. Adam is certainly my favorite of PMJ's basses, and he is currently serving as music director (and bass) in the touring group, who I caught live last month when they were in New Hampshire. Scott Bradlee is the genius behind PMJ. He has set the music world back 80 years with his 40s style instrumentation, harmonies and arrangements of current songs. and it.s one of the best things that could have happened. Not taking anything away from the superb vocalists A couple to look for - "Royals" with Puddles the clown (yes, that's not a mistake) "Dream On", and this one kzread.info/dash/bejne/lHigpZumYamqn5c.htmlsi=EsCrebO4ASeuesFM

So many things about this version of this tune I love, starting with the live one camera, one take set up of all the PMJ videos. I love Scott playng the flutter when she sings "float like a feather”. The key change is miraculous, I’ve heard Dinah Washington slip an amazing key change in and then make a comment lyrically about it in song. Speaking of Dinah, Sarah, Ella , or any other great jazz singer, even though they all have great diction, they also elongate words for effect, I think Haley style takes after that with some rock elements as well e.g. raspy belts. I love her, she’s quite amazing.

My cup runneth over! I am a huge fan of Adam Lambert and PMJ. My life will be complete if someone requests Scarey Pockets. Anything PMJ does is so interesting and fun. Super clever arrangements and terrific musicians. Scarey Pockets is similar in that they take modern songs and turn them into funk arrangements. Also terrific musicians. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Thank you Christopher!

PMJ ❤ Another one of my favorite bands. Loved your analysis as always. They are worth digging into. They have a lot of different singers but Haley is just always phenomenal. Other PMJ suggestions are All about that bass, Bad Romance (percussion done by tap dancing), Oops I did it again, Toxic (Melinda Doolittle on vocals on that one) and as everyone else is mentioning Seven Nation Army.

Liked your little intro duet with the manic 'chipmunks'! 🤣Can see /hear why The Hollies might have had a few questions. Nice Jazzy version. Pianist knows their stuff. I stand { sit ! } corrected, thought it had a '30's flavour... Yes, not a fan of sliding off correct pronunciation. You can Jazz slide/slur the word without losing bits of it - but maybe that's just me being an old schooler...😵‍💫

I believe if you really want to understand Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ), you have to understand the man behind it, Scott Bradlee. He's in every PMJ video playing the piano and not looking at the camera. He doesn't normally seek the spotlight, just acts like part of the backing music, but once a long time ago, he actually made a video where he shows off his unique musical talents. The title, ["Twinkle, Twinkle" Piano Variations- Evolution of Popular Music] is deceptively boring, like his persona in PMJ videos, but I feel it is a demonstration of a unique genius: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X554tJNtqZSflrQ.html Definitely worth the watch.

PMJ rotates members so it's always changing. The name refers to the practice of making modern songs sound vintage. Haley was on American Idol and was rather forgettable till she picked up this old jazz nightclub singing style and that took off.

As far as your reactions, subtlety can also speak volumes, in this video, that’s definitely the case. If you’re interested in doing another Haley reaction, may I direct you to IMO the best studio recording that highlights all the colours in her voice, accompanied only by a guitar played by her Dad, Harry. Look up “Haley Reinhart Chess Records”. She covers Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home” & an original bluesy “Don’t Know How to Love You”. Cheers
