I really loved this reaction video! It was nice to see more than just someone's facial reaction; you had actual things to say haha and I even learned some things. I highly recommend watching her live versions of Creep. The best one in my opinion is her singing Creep at the Amsterdam Bar & Hall. It's...unbelievable....vocally and her stage presence. She's come a long way since this recording.

The first time I heard this I was overwhelmed. I tried, after binge watching it, to understand what was going on. Powerful stuff and so well formed. Drama, art, emotional? Poetry. Haley's stage performance should not be overlooked. It adds and elevates her already amazing vocal performance! I've been watching quite a few reaction videos to PMJ's Creep, and the ones I like to rewatch are by singers and vocal coaches who add insight as to why Haley's vocal performance is amazing. Your insights as in instrumentalist adds a new perspective, and I'll be rewatching this reaction video too! P.S. Great technical review of this video. Part of the creep video's success is probably because it was reacted to by....everyone who does reactions. I like it, I watched a ton of them, but I wish more people would also react to the lesser known PMJ covers. Some have 1 or 2 reactions/reviews, a lot of them have none, even though they are quite interesting musically. For example: Criminal (Fiona Apple cover;Singer: Ariana Savalas), MMMbop (Hanson cover), Worth It (Fifth Harmony cover; Singer/Sax player Grace Kelly), etc.

For me, my favorite parts were the scat, just before the scat, and the whatever it was at 22:23, that led into the scat is her sexiest moment. Finally, at the denouement of "I don't belong here" at the end, her voice seamlessly melds with the trombone for a nanosecond and you can't tell the difference between the two.

OMG!!! YAYAYAYAY!! Thank you! This made my day! ;) Edited to say that I haven’t even watched your video yet, but I just saw it here. Can’t wait!! Edit 2: I’ve watched this video 1,000+ times and never ever really noticed she led them in from the start. I guess all of the emotions are on high alert so early it’s simple to miss these very important note-worthy pieces of the performance. Edit 3: in terms of her rasp, she reminds me very much of David Draiman of Disturbed. To have the ability to control that growl and protect the vocal chords one has to have ridiculous experience. Edit 4: not only is her note & power range incredible, it her style range is as well. She can go from sounding innocent, to sexy at the drop of a hat. Likewise she can throw in the rasp and skatting at the blink of an eye. Understanding where to toss those stylistic choices, without over- or under-doing requires a ton of balance and control.

Great job with your analysis. As a fellow musician myself it's so nice to hear technical comments from the POV of a critical listener. As you know, musicians can be the harshest critics of players and performances. That being said.... did you know that Haley was signed with Interscope records I think in 2011? The morons there just dumped her because they had no clue what the hell to do with her! That's the music business for you...The hell with the talent. If we can't market her throw her away along with the baby and the bathwater. I worked for RCA Records in Camden,NJ so why am I not surprised. All they needed to do was find the right producer for her. Well...so it goes. She's a real treasure and I hope the exec's at Interscope are right now kicking themselves in the ass. @@DJSwitchPDX You should really check out 'Maps' too, then. It is a '70's soul/R&B version. She really lets her 'Motown' influences out. Morgan was actually hand-picked by Berry Gordy Jr to play Teena Marie in 'Motown: The Musical'.

@UC9rTsF4Cb_DdPzYTPD19toA Tarah Simon is another professional vocal coach who has done a Reaction to Creep which I'm sure you would find interesting. It has some analysis of technique, etc. I think Beth Roars' Reaction is to "Habits". There is a video of her singing "Creep" but I've not been able to find a Reaction by her to it. I enjoyed your Reaction, and I like your attitude to Reactions in general. Considered opinions and comments are more interesting than almost incoherent exclamations about something the Reactor's heard for the first time that tell you nothing. I've heard that Ella/Duke recording. Phenomenal!

Great Video Bro! It's funny I have a singer that always wants to do this version of this song and I don't have a track for it. So she try's to do it with the regular track and well it comes out not so good. I had not heard this version but was familiar with Postmodern Jukebox from a 20's themed wedding I did a couple years ago! Jun group and es very talented! Keep up the good work. Also you taking requests for react vids?

I have personal experience with vocal nodules. That supports your thought about singing with a rasp. But I was 19 in a band doing 4-5 gigs per week at the time. Actually had to quit the band for a few months, but eventually got back for a while. But WAY later in life, I sang with a band for about 20 years, sometimes twice a week, usually only a couple of times per month. And I learned that you can do a "growl" without damaging your vocal chords. Hint, it helps if you can hear yourself in the monitor mix. 19-year-old me had to scream to be heard. 50-year-old me had a better solution - I could hear myself singing, and singers will understand that, I hope.
