Players need to become familiar with the tactics. I've got a tactic which works with 9/10 teams that I've been with. Smashed Man U 4-0 with a newly promoted side.

Great video, I've been playing FM for years and feel I've got a pretty good tactical understanding but I think it's always good to watch videos like this

Terrific video, really valuable to see a tactic being created by someone who has lots of experience in FM as someone who is just starting to get into it. Thanks for your insight, hope you so more of these tactic videos in the future!

Really needed this and also kinda need a set piece guide. LFC is just plain bad in default settings when it comes to corners and set pieces.

I thought that was good Jack. Informative. Interesting to hear and see how somebody else sets up their tactics. We can all learn from each other i'm sure that's what's best about the FM community.

I think you make a very good point at the end about not necessarily fitting every player to their best role. Sometimes, if you have player roles that clash, that can be even worse for your team rather than good. Like if you had an inside forward and a btb midfielder who you instruct to push forward more on the same side. You would probably be restricting a lot of space that both players need to function properly.

I've been playing FM for years but this video really helped me!

Dont need a Peter Crouch for crossing to work, you can have small nippy forwards or attacking mids who can get on the end of low crosses.

I'm not anywhere near an expert at FM but last year I had really good success at having very little instructions but just letting all the players play in their best positions in their best roles, everyone finds their own ways I guess. Great video though Jack, not played the Beta but will be buying the game once it comes out

My main success was with Manchester Utd done 7 seasons and won the league every year and at least 1 other trophy every year (understandable as I'm playing with Man Utd) but I also done a Luton save that was quite successful

The reason the analysis button was greyed out is that you didn't put a goalkeeper in and it only works when a full XI is selected

Jack misrepresents the role of ball playing defender. While we might like it to play like a John Stones, bring the ball forward and playing good short-mid range passes, in the game their defining characteristics is trying risky long passes - so the point about having a nearby DM isn’t valid.

Great video. Only thing i found confusing is that you said that you should put AML to mark RB and then you said AML to mark LB too. I think you meant AML marks RB and AMR marks LB. But i understood that It was a mistake, Just wanted you too know. Been playing fm since 2011, and started 2018 yesterday. Havent lost yet.

Can you help me explain why Pogba with like 18 long shots and 17 technical (or something like that) seems to always waste his shots on target? I know he has the "shoots from distance" PPM, but you would think with those attributes, he would be doing much better than 1 or 2 on target out of like 8 shots or something like that. Bear in mind I already tell him to shoot less with the ball. Would I just have to make him un-learn his 'shoots from distance' PPM?

Eirik S. Gjessing I think you can't watch full replays but extended highlights should give you enough info on how your team plays

When I look at the attributes on your videos then important ones highlighted stand out on your game it doesn’t on mine. Is there a setting to make it stand out

It's somewhere in the settings, you can change the colours to custom ones.

CF drops into the channels and frequently drifts wider culling defenders and deeper midfielders out of position whilst the AP on Attack will remain central and look to exploit the created space.

What skin colours do you use ?

Really struggling year 2 with every team I have. Always get sacked around christmas. Finished 8th place with Brighton year 1 and got sacked by christmas year 2. My team collapses completely for some reason, ive tried keeping the same squad with minor changes, ive tried buying better players and gotten rid of the bad ones. Nothing works, no tactic, no team talk nothing. Its really annoying and im about to give up this version of FM. Any help?

Kennedinho Is your team old? Another year and their physical stats can decrease. Maybe your signings need time to bed in? Try signing early in the window. Maybe your backroom staff need looking at? Does your assistant like your formation and style of play? Perhaps you buy a lot of youngsters with potential? Buy at least two players ready to shine in the first team. Maybe your training doesn't match your style of play? Or perhaps it's not varied enough and attributes drop somewhere? All guesses, because I haven't seen your set-up, but I hope I've said something helpful.

Hi Jack (!) I'll tell you one thing I'm *not* seeing on YT, anywhere among all the brilliant, unbeatable tactical plans. That is, an upload that addresses what to do when your up till now competitive... even over-achieving... team suddenly turns to crap overnight for no apparent reason. This is an ongoing problem (read, fucking nightmare) for me, so if you have any suggestions, or would be willing to base an upload on this, I'd be all agog. Best, Blue

Probably if you have wingers or wide players where you have their individual instructions to "play wider" and also "hold ball". But maybe they already do that if you select the underlap team instruction. Probably would help to have a wide width of play too.

underlap is meant to be used for playmaking fullbacks with less pace (leighton baines, kolarov etc.) So if you have a playmaking fullback then the underlap should work as intended

Positioning don’t matter for attacking players. Its a defensive attribute. Off the ball is better for attackers
