At my Milan team I've got Manuel Locatelli in a DLP/RGA role: after tutoring he's now a professional wonderkid, 20 years old and has 12 composure, 14 decisions, 18 determination, 16 vision, 16 first touch, 17 passing, 17 technique. One PPM of tries killer balls often and currently learning dictates tempo. 4 star current ability. Further up the field I have Davy Klaassen in a SS/AMC AP role: he's 25 years old with 15 anticipation, 16 composure, 16 decisions, 17 determination, 13 vision, 16 work rate, 14 first touch (training it now) 14 passing and 12 technique. PPMs: gets in to opposition area, moves in to channels and plays one-twos. 3 1/2 star current ability. I think they're a great combination for deep and advanced playmakers. I even have a 4-3-3 formation where both sit in front of a half back or DM as AP/A(Klaassen) and AP/S (Locatelli) I like Locatelli getting a little further forward as he has 14 for long shots and has scored some screamers from outside the box for me

They work great together when pairing them centrally and both in AP in a 4-3-3 with a DM behind them to bring the protection. I used that in my second season and got great results from them. They did very well with Locatelli deep and Klaassen more advance but my right wing back was the main threat (12 assists) so I wanted that to come from these two guys. I allow Klaassen to get forward and roam from position he has great mentals and physical stats and is a goal threat so I want him forward and Locatelli is a monster from outside of the box so he becomes almost a third scoring option even with a finishing attribute of about 7. I can upload my save if you'd like to see how they work together. I tinker with my tactics all the time I'm constantly changing roles, mentality, shape etc I just haven't found a way to get my strikers involved. I sold Belotti for 90 (paid 56m) but I couldn't get the best out of him and now I am left with poachers and advanced fowards. First time talking to you and just wanted to say your videos and website have helped me understand the game a lot. I used to play CM01/02 back in my early teens but I never really grasped the game even though it's my favourite and all my subsequent FM games I was just putting talented players in to formations not really being a great manager.

Hey, I love your videos! I’m playing a 4-4-1-1 with a shadow striker and a DLF it’s very solid and efficient. in the midfield the central duo are a central midfield on defend and a DLP on support, my question is, do you think that’s a good duo with the right duties on my setup? Or maybe an advanced playmaker would work better? Or maybe the DLP with a defend duty and the central midfielder with support, however since that’s my only playmaker I don’t want him to sit deep, i want him to go up a little to create up the bitch or pick up some passes, I don’t think he will do that with a defend duty. Thanks!

One question about playmakers: is it ever worth training up corners and free kick taking? Locatelli has 10 for corners and 9 for free kicks at 20 years old, should I work on that or not bother? I would love to make him the next Pirlo

hmm..no. Basically the logic is this. Anyway can perform the role if you intend to play it short. Tbh i have never specifically trained anyone for it.

do deep playmakers need good marking and tackling?

it would be a great if they did, but most dlp are focused on passing, vision, positioning, composure

At his age, its showing 12 for decisions, he'd make some dodgy passes in games, over time if that improves then yes he would make a decent playmaker

Your work is golden man!! Always find something that does approval for my team. Just dissapionted , not seeing Eden Hazard here. Puting aside complex and contraversial roles in Conte's 343, is Hazard genuine playmaker of the highest quallity? I think he is. Is he major creative force that pushes rock solid, disciplined side forward? He is , bar far the most creative player of the England's champions. And.... is he leathal? More than that. Analizies of Chelsea's game play show that he is the most advanced player on the field. Shame that you've overlooked him as perfect example of a wide playmaker on attack duty. Again, puting aside his recent role in Chelsea's path to the top where he played more on a support. Even that way, he was always the one nearest to the opposition goalkeeper. Plus we all shouldn't forget that , now already famous Conte's 343 was forced adaption of Conte's previous approaches to the demands of the english football and failure of his initial vision by which the team was gathered and supposed to play. Here, in Balkans, we have saying that you don't change the team and formations that wins the games, but i'm absolutely sure that next season we will see slightly modified Chelsea with Eden Hazard on his best! Advanced wide playmaker placed in the halfspace between left and center. Depending of the situation he supports or attacks. Keep up with the good work and big salute from a guy who plays FM ( CM was it first) for 22 years!!

Yeah there are so many good playmakers in the game, eden hazard without a doubt is one of the best.

I was looking at the AMC AP SUP and it has hold position as default does that hurt the player getting into the half channels

For me any player who has good decisions, vision, decisions, passing, off the ball, balance make good playmakers and if he has similar attributes then he could be a good playmaker. Attributes alone don make him good, getting him to find time and space to make the pass is even more important.
