"Sit on the ground" is a tactic. It's designed to put you in a vulnerable position where the cops can loom over you. It's intimidation and designed to make you uncomfortable and therefore say something that might incriminate you.

NUMBER 1.. Don't talk to the police. Just stand there. NUMBER 2. WHEN they don't introduce themselves with name and badge when they approach , - don't talk to the police. NUMBER 3. Don't give them your name until you are arrested.

All 911 calls are recorded with date & time stamp. Also, a location and description of the suspected offender & the offense suspected, these things are just the starting point of an investigation, not the end. A phone call does not equal RAS in a courtroom ever, when ever approached by a LEO invoke your 4th & 5th amendment rights & stand on them. By invoking your 5th amendment right, you have refused to answer ANY questions & by default refused to grant any required permission to violate your 4th amendment right to be free of any unreasonable searches or seizures, now Terry v Ohio allows for a pat down for weapons ONLY so if said Donut sucker decides to give himself permission to look through your personal effects like your wallet to acquire your ID without any legal consent., a fore mentioned donut goblin has committed felony crimes to which there are no qualified immunity standards. By asking permission to look through your personal effects, he is trying to violate your 5th amendment right to remain silent you do not require his permission to invoke this right ever. Your first amendment right can be very useful at this point, cops in general are very vain and prone to flagrant stupidity do impart do to that badge on their shirt. This is where having knowledge of the movie Full Metal Jacket can be comical, being inventive with unfriendly language directed at said officer, remember there are no words that can be legally called "fighting words" in Federal ruling.

Another 'we got a call'. When they're quick to leave like that, the call never happened. When they stick around and fish, they most likely used a burner number to place a fake call themselves.

They better be able to produce a call within the last 20 minutes

This happened to me around 2007 in Englewood, Colorado. I was walking through MY neighborhood to a post office about a mile away with a friggin' mother's day card. Unmarked cop car stopped me, made me sit on the sidewalk, detained me for about 10 minutes. When I asked why, I was told there was a recent bank robbery. If I had the information then, that I have now and asserted my rights, I would have been beaten and arrested. I saw it happen to several other "undesirable" pedestrians in Englewood, Colorado. Watched the news when I got back home. No bank robberies in the entire Denver metro area. I learned my lesson. Never walk for exercise, to not drive my vehicle, to possibly make a very small effort to help the environment. By the way, I was a 50 year old white guy. I'm still a white guy, just much older now😀

He should FOIA request the recording of the alleged 911 call with his description in it. It's all too easy for cops to claim they got a call and someone they want to harass matches a description.

Crime not witnessed by police…police shouldn’t even bother with this unless he was directly witnessed committing a crime and apprehended at the scene. What a waste of time. Using police as private security basically. Unless there was violence no need for a response - take a report and let them know if he shows again to call back.

The police have the right to stop you. You match the description of a person they are looking for. Now they have NO right to tell you to sit down on the ground. You are right - you are not a dog. "if it was you, don't go back" i would definitely go there. public sidewalk loud protest, boycott these scumbags and here is why. note, i already don't shop at target. i try to do local grocery or HEB, but i sometimes hit up the more convient walmart location. and never show my receipt. that goes into my pocket as soon as i get it. don't stop me, don't commit felony theft by snatching, and you get to go home instead of to jail or the hospital.
