    Yesss everyone forgets how to drive in Vancouver the moment a raindrop hits the ground! 🤬 which is ironic because it’s rain city 😕

    2:17 This one, I`d like to hear a spokesperson for the VPD rationalize. That idiot cop turned onto the Melville connection, presumably, at Thurlow ... there is NO EXCUSE for not hitting the lights and sirens the moment he did that. He was a mobile disaster waiting to happen until he finally hit the red and blues to show that he was an unusual hazard!

    Agreed. The cop just figured he'd sprint the short block to Burrard in the wrong direction, but the moment you do that without lights and sirens (and demonstrable need), it's a crime.

    Too many people coming to Vancouver and too few people knows rules of road. They came here from outside country where rules are different than ours. And in major city like Vancouver no way you can survive without a car. Car brings convenience and that's first thing people buy regardless of they know how to drive. Only thing we can do is protect ourselves on the road.

    0:07 What is going on KZread? Great to have a new video! This is an intersection with a weird history - we're westbound on East Keith approaching St Georges. Due to the boulevard, Keith is effectively two one way streets. Over the years, the traffic engineers seem to have tried everything. Back in the 70's, there were no Stop signs on Keith, it was an arterial and others were expected to give right-of-way. Just like the situation a block east, at St Andrews. The center boulevard has varied, with Stop signs, then an experiment with Yield signs (they could have just chucked all the signs for the same result legally as that would have made the middle intersection uncontrolled - i.e. right of way goes to the guy on the right). But I digress. Eventually, they decided on an 'All way' or is that '3 way' stop at both of the middle parts of the intersection. In the meanwhile they put a cycle/jogging/wheelchair lane winding its way up the middle, dodging the rats (look it up) but placing those road users at the clearly marked crosswalks. Needless to say, there is nothing as stupid as those dorks on their unlighted bicycles - there were 28,000 trips recorded on Lyme bicycles last year, and apparently the reduction in greenhouse gases is so intoxicating to those in authority that they're encouraging the unlicensed ignorant masses to do more of this. Final thought, from this guy who's been driving for more than a while - the highrise you see at 170 East Keith is where I was living in 1973 (top floor, corner) was charging me the exorbitant fee of $195 a month for a one-beedroom ...

  • @wyldhowl2821

    @wyldhowl2821

    8 ай бұрын

    I know it very well (being about a block further down), and it does get confusing at busy times as cars try to creep between the two stop signs on either side of the boulevard. Most people handle it well, but there is no excuse for what the cyclist did. Lucky for him the cars tend to be at a low speed heading through that part, so he got only a wee bump and not thrown under someone's wheels.

    8:30 I think that more and more, people are on their cell phones almost utterly absorbed, and movent of other vehicles is sufficient to make them move without reading the lights properly, thinking they`re holding things up. Let`s face it, all the global jurisdictions which allow drivers to get a license here use green arrow controls in a similar manner. Also, a southbound car at Boundary & Kingsway is infrequent, so the last time that driver went through that intersection there may not have been a southbound arrow if nobody was present.

    4:05 The cammer started turning as soon as the yellow light came on when there's still an oncoming vehicle approaching. This is not a good practice and he would've been at fault in a collision because the Mercedes' front wheels had passed the line before the light turned red, so technically the Mercedes didn't run the red light. Granted, it was kinda slow and would have been able to stop easily.

    8:30, I’ll explain it for you Vancouver Worst Drivers! If you have a green light with a left turn arrow, the vehicle and driver that has the green light with left turn arrow can proceed and turn left! If drivers don’t have the green arrow and go straight instead, then they have to wait their turn until the green light to go straight is green and you can go straight! People I don’t know, need to learn about arrows on the road with traffic lights, otherwise they will cause an accident with the driver that has the green light with the left turn arrow!

    1st clip is at St. Georges and Keith Road in North Van. Tricky intersection with the cars, cyclists, and pedestrians along that boulevard. The cyclist is definitely in the wrong. Pedestrians cross along the line of the crosswalk. Cars cross parallel to the crosswalks and it is a 4 way stop so they must take turns. The cyclist ignores all that and goes diagonal in the dark and rain (so he can reach the cycle path on the left?), but then wonders why he got bumped by a car that was obeying the rules of traffic and right of way order. What an idiot. He's a Lime cycle user, so chances are he is not used to regular bike use, and may have just rented the thing about a block away.

    Can you explain me something, please? All the cars in Vancouver or lets say 90% of cars are driving on left lane when right line is free. Moreover, they drive 5-10km/h slower than the limit. Right in front of me a driver with sticker L enters the intersection, goes straight to the left lane and keeps driving there. Is that something you guys learn in driving school? Is that something in the book? I've been in so many cities across Canada and Vancouver is the only one I've seen something like this. I keep passing cars from the right.

The car should've made sure the intersection was clear before proceeding, but the biker deviated in the direction (which the red car could not see and should not have moved out).
