2:10 It's not dangerous to turn left in Vancouver, there's just a lot of Vancouver drivers making dangerous left turns. Pull into the intersection plotting your route through it, position your vehicle for the best view of oncoming traffic, pay attention to the light and both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and finally don't go unless you're certain it's clear. There's a few steps but for anyone holding a valid driver's license, they should be relatively simple to follow.

Every single day I almost die because some cretenous motorist isn't paying attention. Thankfully I've developed the habit of watching everyone around me and can predict what moronic drivers will do. But worse than the drivers are pedestrians and cyclists. Last week I almost hit an old woman that decided to wander into the middle of the road, stand there, and gawk around. SMH

The Government needs to start pulling Taxi company licenses - too many of these guys are playing with the lives of others. Just tonight alone, I was stopped at a red light and two Black Top cabs barely even slowed down and blew right through the red light, right after each other. We started suspending trucking companies for the incompetent drivers they hire, it's time we started to do the same with Taxi companies. And make sure we suspend the license of the driver as well to shut down their Uber side hustle.

Taxi drivers in vam😅are the worst. 4 or 5 years ago I had an argument with a taxi driver talking about how uber and lyft was coming to Vancouver. That taxi driver was so mad. He was adamant that it'll never happen.

Agreed. It's not to say that all taxi drivers are terrible (I've had some lovely ones in the city), but a lot of them should pick another vocation, and the legit drivers should come down HARD on them for tarnishing their reputation.

I saw a big crash on Great Northern Way last week. Half expected to see it on this episode. Just another crash in a city full of some of the worst drivers on the continent.

0:49 "that Mazda also doesn't see them" - having driven that generation Mazda 3 a lot, the A-pillar is in a horrible location and creates a massive blind spot doing left turns - if you're inattentive you could get unlucky and have a pedestrian in that blind spot, and you won't notice until it's much too late

I watched your videos for about 2years before moving to Vancouver. Now that I'm here, I am even more terrified than I thought I would be.

I used to see stuff like this all the time on lower mainland streets, but ever since we got a dashcam, nothing happens anymore! I guess that's a good thing though

Here in the Netherlands we've had that rule for 40+ years and it works just fine. The difference is here you have to get a driving license before you're allowed to drive, and can only get it from a licensed driving instructor. We don't use a system of 'provisional' no-license driving or unprofessional driving lessons from mom&dad.

2:17 - my guess is the person (maybe elderly) wanted to go into Metrotown, turned left into the exit lane by mistake, then went "oh no - STOP!" and slammed on the gas, instead of the brakes. 2:54 - oh man, the bottom of his vehicle even sounds ripped to shreds after that. 6:30, oh if someone did that to me, I would be getting revenge.

An accident like that at Metro Town wonder where they from,looks like they wont get to YVR outlet store before it closes.

That scooter isn't just insured: If it has a plate then it is a registered motor vehicle, and that white SUV is turbo-fucked for passing it in the same lane.

2:46 You can't tell from the video if that is a licence plate or an e-plate. The "Scooter" was clearly at fault, if he was an insured vehicle, then he should not have been at the edge of the road doing below the speed limit, which leads me to believe he was an electric scooter, and he should have been closer to the sidewalk.

I’ll be in Vancouver in a month or so, it’s not much better here in Calgary

Gotta watch out for white SUV's, they are a special breed of drivers.

Factors I’m thinking of from that @imoinshane video: Speed, going too fast, turn the curve a little too quick, not paying attention, on their phone while driving, and etc

What do you mean by legit road markings? In order to end up in the lane you have to ignore multiple signs, drive around or over concrete barriers.

Vancouver safety issues 1.heading west during sun set is dangerous because the sun is in peoples eyes. 2. Too many drivers on the phone 3. Police and city not enforcing jay walking rules or people who cross when its not their turn, the red hand means its not your turn yet. 4. congestion

Yea, And of course you onow where these " worst drivers " come from.

Any new drivers watching this. Never turn left if there’s a line of cars turning the opposite way and you can’t see. Even it seems clear it’s not worth saving a few seconds. If you are first in line just wait for the light to turn red not yellow! Then slowly make your turn. Who cares if it slightly annoys the drivers behind you. If it does so they’re shit drivers and you’ll never see them again anyways

Some cabbies will lend their cars to their cousins or whoever else they are sharing their houses with, while they are sleeping.

Nine times out of ten, the drivers look like they'd be most comfortable in Surrey or Richmond. Or anywhere in Asia. Just a coincidence I'm sure.

Arghhhh ! Watching this vid makes me angry. Those ppl need to have their license taken away! I heard from friends that in surrey and abbot, Indians normally don’t have a license. As for Chinatown, I believe those ppl just want to see if they could get hit so they can get money. 😢 They always cross on red light on purpose and would hit your car if you are too close to them.

The scooter thing really irks me. Locally, still in BC, I see too many scooter drivers driving like bikes. ICBC says to consult with local police for routes prior to driving. Then, because you have a plate, take the lane like a motorcycle. 2:34 cold have been avoided by taking the lane, but resulted in road rage because.... Vancouver people.

My pet peeve is pedestrians who obviously have never driven a car. They think drivers have ESP and 360 vision

Scooters! Just making the rules up as they go along, they can come out of absolutely anywhere, day or night, and be going faster than the rest of the traffic. They are more difficult to see than a bicycle, there’s less body movement to catch your eye, and the rider is just standing upright like someone walking, but covering ground at automotive speeds.

Too many morons on scooters unfortunately. Weaving in places they shouldn't be, riding without a headset, going waaaaaay to fast on such a vehicle with small wheels, (25 km/h is the legal maximum in BC) etc... I love my scooter but idiots like the one in 1:55 make me think we could see them just getting banned after the pilot is done in 2028. You can really mangle yourself up riding a scooter like that.

This is Arnold... Are you talking about the 2nd one (with the highway)? Yes, I agree. Not shown is that afterwards, that car tried to overtake the semi-trailer on the left (which would be YIKES dangerous because it was a left-turn lane), only to see that he couldn't do it. Then he snuck over to the right, to see that the truck was stopped because of a red. And then proceeded to flip the middle finger at me for having the audacity to honk at him when he passed me on that one-lane off-ramp. That guy had multiple reasons for his license being revoked, just from that one incident.
