I grew up in a railroad family and you never, never, because of impatience, ever drive around the crossing guards. Those arms are programed and timed just right for our safety. Another worse one is where someone driving down a dirt road to beat the train to the crossing. MY step-dad was an officer for UP, so, there were times in the middle of the night, he was called out to delegate what needed to be done for clean up, even for derailments.

@@zex450 best thing for him to do would be to slow down. Pulling into the next lane wouldn't help because of the chance that the out of control car slid into it. Slowing down not only gets you away from the accident, but also warns anyone behind you as well that can't see said accident yet.

last thing to do is pump your brakes at that speed in incy conditions. He did exactly right, just hold the wheel, let off gas, and hope for the best. Turning the tires at all greatly increases the chance of losing control.

So the car likely went over the Median, *then* went down the side. I'm not sure why; whether that's from driver error, or suspension failure, I can't say.

You are never supposed to go into the opposite lane in that situation. It's in every DMV test in my country. You go off to the right. If you can, drive away from the road, like you could get since it's all field. Going left across the street only causes confusion. You can see the trucker try to go back in their lane but have to swerve back because the cam driver went left. Don't cause that confusion, don't increase that chance of that truck rolling. Just hard brake to the right then take off in the field.

Fun fact: In the area I live in, most accidents happen on the longest, straightest stretch of the road. It seems every idiots sees it as an invitation to put pedal to the metal and try being fast and furious.

7:10 if i remember right thats a off ramp in seattle that people crash all the time due to a tight turn. Even though like 3 seperate warnings to slow down and tight turn ahead people ignore them until its to late to slow down.
