Finding a holster and learning what carry method works best for you is much harder than finding the right gun.

I finally found the holster that works for me, after the 5th one. It took me 5 holsters bought. Everyone I tried in the shop, and every one seemed good at the shop. But the problems only happened after walking around all day after I had already bought them. All of them functioned but some printed more than I realized, some shifted to much, some poked my side and I didn't realize it till I walked around with them. After about 250 dollars, the 5th holster was finally a home run. It was one of those Galco leather pad holsters for an XDs 3.3. Totally concealed, totally comfortable all day long, in the heat or not, secure as could be, quick sure draw. This is the one for me. To anyone here who hasn't really thought about holsters as a big deal, let me tell you, they are. You have to get the right one for you and you will probably go through quite a bit before you find one. You will see what I'm talking about, you will see. And don't bet on the one I settled on as the one for you, we all have different body shapes and preferences, not to mention different guns. Holsters are extremely picky for the individual and if you are happy with the first one you buy, you are lucky.

I saw a guy get mugged at gunpoint in Seattle at the Greyhound station. While this was happening there was a cop on the other side of the building who had no idea what was going on. I had a 4 hour layover there. I stayed awake the whole time I was there.

TheYankeeMarshal One piece of advice I never see in these videos or in CC class is that when you buy jeans, you might consider going up an inch or two in the waistline, especially if you intend to use IWB. I know you said don't dress to your gun, but I think buying bigger pants to accommodate your gun is a sound piece of advice considering most people will only own one or two firearms.

Mike Eslick yep, almost all my pants are the next size up, 36 fits me right now but 38 waist and any gun fits and holds the pants in place. same with shirts.

I meant OWB. It was a typo. OWB means outside waist band. I will add that most any hybrid IWB or kydex OWB holster would work fine.

TheYankeeMarshal Wow, that sounds pretty rude. Actually it does? As it was reality, and can happen to others. Your lack of having people, or thinking people don't notice, does not constitute a 100% "no one's looking" reality.

FraggedDabloons Misconduct by who? I was entering a building I could not legally carry in. So I unloaded and securely locked my handgun in my vehicle according to state law. Somehow someone saw something poking out from my belt (the annoying horrible holster I used to carry) and called it in thinking it was a gun. PD rolled up, guns drawn. After a search and explanation we joked around for a bit, they offered some advice on how to carry so I don't print, and went on their merry way.

At about 4:00, you say that people just don't notice or care. This depends on the situation. Where I live, the People's Republic of Kalifornia, most people are severely anti-gun, and they might kick you out of the establishment, call the police, etc. That is why I would never open carry, or carry a full-size gun. I don't want people to know.

  • @DeepPastry

That's not even in the same reality as honesty. No one cares if you're carrying, since no one bothers to eye rape random people hard enough to discover if maybe they do carry. I think you've confused media reports and politicians giving speeches with the real world. California has a lot of BLM land where most residents in California do their target shooting as well. And the only problems we ever had was with the local Police departments taking the very best shooting sites, forcing us to drive further inland. And for concealed carry all you have to avoid is being the type of nut job who's constantly fondling your weapon or pulling it out when someone very kindly tells you to go fuck your mother.

I really dont see the big deal with concealed carry,I open carry a lot,I think it a deterrent against crime,if a criminal sees the gun, they will move on to easier prey, maybe one who carries conceal, and couldnt get his gun out in time, and gets shot, yet gun laws favor concealed carry,it dont make much sense to me.Also I dont think a person who is not restricted from owning a firearm should even have to have a permit to carry,if you can legally open carry without a permit, you should be able to conceal it without a permit as well, just another way of taxing the armed citizenry an extra $50.00 a year. Our so called government has taken yet another whats supposed to be a right, and turn it into a privilege, its bullshit.

I agree, in part. My wife and I got our CCPs so as not to draw attention to ourselves from everyday folk. We train our draw techniques very often and the time difference between open and conceal has become negligible.

The problem is tactical advantage. When you concealed carry, you have complete element of surprise. If you open carry then a robber/mugger might just shoot you first before you have a chance to react. The element of surprise is ENTIRELY on their side.

Mike S Yours is a valid point, but it could also be said that by open carrying the criminal would pass you by in search of easier pray. They are both valid views, but I am of the mindset that if a person can legally open carry,he,or she should be able carry concealed without the extra cost and time of getting a C.W.P.

kevinallupinit Thats right,The thing is Im a qualified gunsmith, though I dont work on other peoples firearms,I will talk them through say,a jamming semi auto as well as answer legal questions the best I can.The other week I was asked about legal open carry in an auto here in Va;I was almost embarrassed to tell the person that (paraphrase) it can be kept loaded,in reach of the driver,or passenger in an unlocked glove box, center console,as well as the trunk,But to carry it on your side is "iffy"I guess they figure the seat belt may cover the firearm,or it may not be seen some other place out in the open. The problem is the people making these laws know nothing about firearms, and the laws are bordering that of the IRS code.It makes it to where a person dont know what to do,cause when they read the laws they are so stupid, that a person says ,that cant be right, you know?

I have been pocket carrying since 1998.. first was the Beretta 950 BS Jetfire 25.. in a DeSantis leather trickster pocket holster in my front pocket .. around 2003 I purchased a Kel-Tec p32.. mine has been extremely reliable and accurate out to 50 ft.. I carry that in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.. I still carry it nowadays when I'm wearing lightweight shorts in the summer right front pocket. Next is the Taurus TCP 380 in a DeSantis Superfly pocket holster.. I carry this about 60% of the time right front pocket.. I carry load is CORBON DPX All copper hollow points... The next gun I carry. In right front pocket.. in a descent is Superfly pocket holster with velcro on flap to prevent printing.. I was lucky enough about 6 years ago to pick up a used in mint shape discontinued Smith & Wesson 342 airlite Ti (aluminum frame titanium cylinder) ..38 sp centennial hammerless..11oz !!!! I installed rubber hogue monogrips.. which cover the back strap absorb recoil and gets all my fingers on the grip for maximum control.. Again carry in my right pocket.. accurate out to 50 ft with this little 11 oz snub... I carry load is federal HST +p .38 130 gr .. these recoil like a 22 magnum out of my 11 oz gun.. the humongous hollow point which is flush with the case mouth like a wadd cutter .. penetrates denim covered ballistic gel to 13 in and fully expands

@theradiantchild yeah, but look especially close at their all steel guns or the new CM9. They are a great bargain.

@Kylemagg88 The one that I bought for another gun, I think it was the H&K USPc, fits it perfectly.

Thanks for a great vid. I totally agree that people aren't nearly as conscious of us as we usually think. Maybe I'm just the least observant person on Earth (or the least suspicious), but I've rarely (if ever) noticed someone else carrying a concealed firearm.
