I used this holster for years and I love it, it looks and performs the same as the day I got it, 5 stars.
I have two of these holsters and have used them every day for at least 3 years. They show very little wear. Best of all, the design is simple, versatile, and works all the time.
I have a 10 year old Don Hume and the leather, and clip is as strong as the first day I took it out the package. It’s a EDC, that’s a testament onto how well they hold.
I just bought a Don Hume J.I.T. Slide holster for my Kimber Custom TLE II. For $15.99 on Midway USA it's steal. The holster you mentioned with the belt loops is the PCCH IWB holster, it looks like a hybrid of a Galco Royal Guard and a Crossbreed Supertuck, $37.99 at Midway.
Yup, this is the hostler I have for my XD-45C. It hides that double stack .45 frame very well even on my 120 lb frame.
Ibought 2 of them back in the mid 1990's and they are a great holster and still in good condition all those years of use and plus you cant beat the price for them.
I bought a nylon Pro Tech IWB Holster and it was a waste of money. I got my Don Hume H715 in the mail today and I love it. well made, comfortable, conceals well. I would highly recommend this holster, for someone on a budget.
Thanks Sootch, got my Don Hume holster today for G26, looks & feels great. For a short time I need it for (visiting family in another state) I'm very happy with it!
I've used this model holster with a handful of guns for years. One of my top pics.
I have one for my Smith 640 pro. Great holster, I agree. Long time sub, great channel! I live in south Jersey and I am jealous of folks in other states that have freedoms we don't. The more responsible you folks are the better chance we have to enjoy those freedoms too. You always act professional and I appreciate your message! Thanks!
I'm no expert, but I think a J clip is the proper clip to be worn under the belt. A J-clip is designed to hold the holster when a gun is being drawn out. The clip on those holster are designed to be on the belt, allowing the belt, rather than the pants, support the weight of the gun. Regardless of my opinion, it's about personal comfort and preference.
I have similar holsters from El Paso Saddlery. Going to look at Don's now. Look well made. Nice.
This is what I have been using for about the past year and 3 months with a glock 19. Model I am using is the black version with a little tab to protect from slide bite. Very happy with it as well, great price, I kinda like leather. Pistol holds tight (perfect not too tight) Thanks for the video, I enjoy all your tac gear videos Sootch
Thanks again for this video. Rewatching it I noticed something I didn't notice before - you have the metal clip behind your belt and not over it - giving me an idea to try with a holster I already have. God bless.
Been using a don hume holster for 6 years and it's still good 👍
Just an FYI, the glock 23 fits perfectly in the xd 40 model of this holster. As long as its the h715
Just got the EXACT same one that you have in the video for your S&W Model 442!!! NICE!!! I got mine off of eBay!!!
Great vid. I carry my Ruger LCR in this model, but mine has the snap on belt loops. I can carry in various positions, from appendix to 5 o'clock.
I like the belt clip to go around the belt, supports the weight of the gun better...the best holster clip are tuckergunleather they go over the belt and hook under the belt, easy to get on and off plus they don't scuff up your leather belt.
Very nice sootch00 , thank for your videos .
Don Hume makes a really nice holster for the money and you won't regret buying one. The model that I use more than any is the PCCH and for $60 bucks or so it's a good deal.
@lhusby I thought until seeing this, that you were supposed to do it that way. I've been carrying one of these, as well as a Desantis Sof-Tuck that way for 6 months. Seems to work a hell of a lot better than going behind the belt!
Nice holsters! Thanks for video , I was looking for that type of holster
What about Don Corleon?
how about sitting ?
Very nice review, I will definitely look at purchasing this holster for my J-frame.
Have this holster for my cw 40 love it
@sootch00 I have looked at these on ebay and they do seem to be decent. I actually have an old Don Hume belt slide holster for a Sig P230SL and have worn it for over 10 years on hiking trips. Good value. Thanks for your response.
super-well done. Very informative. Thanks!
Great holsters! I have one for my S&W snubby.
This is the perfect holster. Stoner holsters are very similar, but twice the price.
Great Review... Im going to pick up one for my G23 and XD40. -Thanks Matt
I have one of these and love it.
Love the finish on these holsters, thanks great review
Great reliable holster. it does what is supposed to do at a very fair price.
Nice work, very helpful.
Great video. Just got the exact holster for my xd sub. Did you ever notice a break in period? Do you recommend applying a lotion or oil to loosen it up?
Nicely done, thanks.
Thanks for making this video Sootch! Don't know if you saw my pm from this morning or not but this answers the question I had in it lol. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Been looking for CCW holster. I think now I have found it. Thanks sooth00, Great Videos

Did you ever get a Don Hume holster?
This is really a good holster. I had one for my PT-24/7 Pro. The only thing I noticed was in my case a I always clipped to the belt instead of between the belt and the pants. Otherwise the holster would move upward. Nice video Sootch!
That's a great color. Looks like a great value holster.
Hay sootch, how ya doing my friend, great job, love the way you end your videos. Kevin
great holster i have 3 of them
Pro Tip: When holstering semi-autos, place your thumb behind the slide so it doesn't get knocked out of battery.
Don Hume is okay. I use one for my Glock 23. The clip is way too big though. Something like 2 inches. It doesn't hold straight often. It usually leans one way or the other on my belt because the clip extends over it and ends up just pivoting on my belt. They're cheap and made of leather, but I don't think they're that great. The one for my M&P Shield is much better because the gun is so small, but for my Glock 23, it's just too big and causes the holster to move around on my belt.
Thanks for the holster demo. This is the holster I need for my j frame revolver. The one I have now requires 2 hands to reholster.

What model Glock are you using for this video, love the vid btw!
I've got one for my p365xl with straps instead of the clip.
Ron Paul 2012!
I live about 30 miles from factory. Most of my holsters are Don Hume ,They are made in Miami,Ok.

Great Review, Thank You!
@steveowalk I have the same holster and the clip doesn't fit well over a thicker quality pistol belt. I'm guessing thats why he did that. I've since witched to a kholster but still use this in a pinch.
Looked like maybe you were wearing a vest in the video; if so, is that a factor in your preference of locating the concealed holster in the kidney area? I just have never been comfortable when trying that location.
Great review. I particularly like your camera presence. I often wonder what Canada would be like with 2nd ammendment rights or the equivalent.
Those look like nice holsters. I'd like to see a piece of leather to cover backside of the pistol that rests against the body though.
Will this work with the RIA M206 you reviewed
isnt the clip supposed to go over the belt? i thought so anyways

+R Dizzle83 You're correct-- no need to be confused. This video (though nice in review) actually shows the holster being put on "incorrectly". You are correct-- the clip does go (over) the belt, as with "any other" Clip-IWB Holster made by any other brand. See mp-pistol.com/mp-pistol-accessories/176-don-hume-h715m-images-update-after-two-months.html The small hook or sort of nook at the end of the clip is designed to sit or grasp underneath the belt to hold it in place. Try taking a look at other IWB-Clip holsters for comparison. BTW, I own one of these Don Hume 715 Holsters for my M&P Shield. Great holster~ One of the reasons I favor "Leather over Kydex", is the wear, bruising and scratching Kydex does to the body of your firearm. Maintaining (as much as I can) the aesthetics of my firearms are important to me too. Much like maintaining good conditioning of the books of a serious book collector. Good luck-

There is no "correct" way, some people carry IWB who don't wear a belt.
Nothing wrong with these holsters, but how about a comparison between one of these production holsters and a more expensive "custom" gun leather company? Is it worth the money for a Mitch Rosen or Del Fatti, etc?
Great review! Are there any revolvers that can be pocket carried? Iv seen some reviews on the S&W 642 J frame but that still looks kinda big to me. I wanna get my conceal carry permit but i really think i would only feel comfortable carrying a revolver and i don't wanna do the whole holster thing, just looks to uncomfortable to me.
What's the advantage of the IWB holsters, that use the two belt loops as approved to the belt clip? I noticed you don't clip the belt, only the pant!
Every Kydex holster I've used cracked in multiple places.
Thoughts on whether the sweat shield version is better or not?
why not clip it on belt ?
So you don't clip over you're belt? When I've seen others review this holster they all clipped onto/over their belts. Do you just do this to help conceal better or was it designed this way?
I am looking for the J frame holster for a Taurus model 85 for the one you're showing in this video and it's just call on all prices is there a way to find out I would pay $30 for that holster please let me know
Don Hume is an ok leather holster for the price. Like anything, there are much better choices out there if you're serious.
I have one for my G26/G19.. they do suck to put back in sometimes.. the need a spring around the top to keep from folding close. But again.. decent for the price. I'm not really that worried about returning to the holster on a CCW holster, but on a competition holster.. I care more about reholstering.

The holster seems to be slightly reinforced at the top to aid in reholstering?
Any tips where i can find a j frame one exactly like the in your video?

does he make a tuckable version?
@thesuperfan99 Pretty sure they make a model that does exactly that. Could be wrong on that though.
I just bought one for a m&p compact, it fits my fn9c perfectly

Great holsters
Good thorough video , I don't know about the trusting don comment , I've met some rascals named don before ,..lol. But I'll trust u on this review and order one from grabagun , they have them for 25 plus time getting some p99 mags for 32 , not bad . I needed a good holster for it and I've found it .thanks for taking your time to review products , I always look at ur reviews for advice on what I should invest in ? (IE) . p99as ,
As a relative newcomer to conceal carry, seeing you put the holster IWB, but not put the clip over the belt, confused me. Is that just because it's leather and doesn't retain as firmly as say a Kydex holster would? I am under the impression that IWB clips go over the belt. Thanks in advance for your response.

@sootch00 If it helps: I have a Benchmade tactical pen. I NEVER carry it. I'm afraid to. It cost $100! I bought 2 cheap ones on ebay ($22 or so each) and have them in edc bags and not my person because they are too bulky.
I bought one for my S&W M&P 9C and had to return it. The mouth of it smashed down as soon at draw from holster requiring two handed reholster. Very disappointed. Love the look, and yes even the smell of real leather.

This is why I like Kydex holsters, especially the Hybrid 2.0 from Hybrid Armory. It has a leather backing with a kydex front for IWB.

+keving52002 I own one of these holsters for my m&p shield-- though it is a small subcompact 9mm- I have no problems at all with the firearm being loose or falling out accidentally. I recommend the holster. Also leather does not bruise or scratch your firearm like Kydex often does over time.
