This is the current world record for this category. This was run using the original US version on original hardware with a standard SNES controller; there are several ports for this game but they are mostly inaccurate.
This PB is from December 2019 and I never uploaded it because it has some pretty major issues. I wanted to get a 46:3X or so before I moved on, but after I got back from AGDQ I just wanted a break from this game. I'll eventually get back to this category but for now this is my PB/WR.
100% in this game is really neat because it requires collecting a lot of different items, many of which actually change the way that the game is run. The stage order is completely different, we get to see a lot of different boss kills and stage strats, and we get to use Super Adapter! The items required for 100% are:
-Rush Search (Freeze Man's stage)
-Rush Jet (Junk Man's stage)
-Exit Module (dug up in Freeze Man's stage or purchased from the shop)
-Super Adapter (requires the four rush plates from the first four stages)
-Hyper Fist upgrade for Super Adapter (dug up in Turbo Man's stage or purchased from the shop)
-Proto Shield (requires visiting Proto Man in Cloud and Turbo Man's stages and then fighting Proto Man in Shade Man's stage)
-Beat (Slash Man's forest)
-Energy Balancer (dug up in Shade Man's stage or purchased from the shop)
-Auto's hyperbolt (Spring Man's stage)

PJ. I don't have great reaction times. Also PJ gets through act-raiser levels on exactly the same frame so many times he can tell by the rain.

I had no clue that the Danger Wrap had a secondary means of use. I've literally never seen anybody use it until this video.

Sure, PJ SAYS you'll never see Protoshield in a speedrun of this game, but I'll have you know that the current WR uses it for AT LEAST 2 frames. I think. I mean, maybe it was 1?
I just found this video. I was interested in looking up 100% speed runs for this game, because I am in the process of playing through this game again. I too love this game! I loved it when it first came out, and I still love it now. I agree with you that the robot master weapons that you get in this game are fantastic. I also really like the soundtrack and graphics. Capcom really did a good job in making this game look and feel distinct from the X series games.
Love playing this game, and I never even knew Proto-Shield was a thing, but I guess thats okay since apparently it's hot garbage anyways. Thanks for the Awesome run and always great Commentary PJ, can't wait to see more of you!
Thanks PJ! Your commentary is always appreciated. You got mixed by the hitbox/hurtbox 50/50 again. Unless the terminology is flipped outside of fighting games...?
I would have laughed really hard if the entire video was just you talking about how great the shademan stage is and then just going "the run is whatever, anyways back to stage man"
Love your runs PJ. You mentioned that you were a little disappointed that the bosses are trivialized by their weaknesses. Any thoughts to doing a buster only run? I realize you ALSO said the buster was awful in this game but it'd be a neat change of pace.
Be sure to use the electric spark on Coil Man for a special surprise.

7's my favorite classic megaman after 3. 2 is bad, the music is good, metal blade is good, the rest of it is terrible
