Clutter to Clarity | Downsizing my 153+ Houseplant Collection

Reorganizing my entire Houseplant collection and decluttering it completely. Using the Marie Kondō Technique, I give away plants I no longer love or have multiples of. Let me tell you it's a cleansing experience and gave me peace of mind. Plants that had to leave my life: Scindapsus, Monstera Deliciosa, Philodendron, Alocasia, and many more... 😈

    Whenever I start to feel anxious around my plants, I know it is time for another round of decluttering. I tend to cling to plants for way too long and they end up weighing me down. So I finally kicked some and it felt so good! Got motivated to take action yourself? Tell me which plants you would like to sort out 🤓

    I've been starting to declutter my house and I've succeeded so far, but it's too hard to declutter my plants. I have space actually but since I am renting in my unit, I would like to avoid carrying a lot of plants during a move and also, I'm not sure if I could get the same condition for them in my new place. Still too many, so I think what I did for some, I combined plants with the same care requirements, duplicates and also to make them bushier like my peace lilies, ficus etc. I love this kind of video, as I could relate. Decluttering really clears our mind and anxiety.

    I love purging stuff. I have five children and stuff starts to pile up. I used to have yard sales but my work schedule doesn't leave me time to do it. About twice per year I give away propogations- my plant babies. Its kind if funny though that I am constantly being given plants. I just was given a monstera small leaf one yesterday. I am watching your videos and a few other plant people to learn how to fix this plant, I will likely have many propogations to rehome.

    I rage purge when I feel suffocated by the amount of plant maintenance I'm doing. Usually it's in the winter when my plants look like crap, and in the spring when I am tired of looking at my old plants because I want new plants. 😂I should probably be more selective about what plants I bring into my home

  • @LeafyLuster

    Hi Michelle, I love the term "rage purge" I feel that! I also purge like 2 times a year. I think being more selective helps but also sometimes taste changes & plants sometimes die or end up looking like crap so don't beat yourself up. It's part of the hobby I guess 😁💚

    Here is something I learned about philodendron melanochrysum: Most people say that it's one of those plants that you should buy mature. When it's in the juvenile stage, it grows with a separate cataphyll that is not part of the previous petiole, and that is where we run into trouble with tearing and such. When it's mature, it grows the new leaves directly out of the petiole, like a monstera deliciosa. I don't have experience with this but I know people struggle a lot less with the mature form. If you can put some money aside and save up for it that would be cool to see especially with the prices getting lower and lower. You could even do a video about it and see if it works. Idk just an idea.

  • @LeafyLuster

    @LeafyLuster

    10 ай бұрын

    Yessss I heard the same thing! Same is supposed to go for Philodendron Pink Princess. Which in fact I can confirm because I have grown mine out and now I don't struggle with the leaves anymore cause of the separate Cataphyll. That's a good point, maybe I should buy a big f****** Melanochrysum 😂😂😂
