The UPS & DOWNS of Airlayering Monstera Deliciosa

Finally! I cut down my Monstera Deliciosa Variegata after airlayering with Sphagnum moss for over 1 Year now. She is the star of every houseplant tour but I just had to do it. I took a huge top cutting and also a ton of stem cuttings. I also have some after pics for you to share my propagation experience. All in all I think it went well, even though I once again noticed how much I hate Sphagnum moss to prop plants 😅. I'll try airlayering my houseplants with perlite next time.
Enjoy ♥
xoxo Kristina

I'm really kind of maxed out right now 😅. I guess we plantparents are all in this together 😂. Funny that you just now found Charmaines channel. Hi Nancy, I feel the same, water is so simple and yet so effective. So far the no drainage Method works great. The plant looks good so far and I even have to water it less often. Which is great. The ones I rooted in water are looking good too. I love just propagating in water. ✨😊

Same here, I had the vase set aside for it for a while now 😅. I'm hoping in the long run the plant will be fine. So far I am happy to report she's doing great! New leaf already unfurled. I don't need to water as often & roots look good so far. Maybe this is your sign to try it 😉. I mean you don't have to put in a super rare expensive plant as a first try :)

Your albo is so beautiful! That top cutting is definitely my favorite. I do recommend only using a razor blade to cut to ensure more success in propping and the health of the plant. @techplant did a video showing results between different cutting tools to show the difference in the plants and it changed the way I cut plants. Here's his vid: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4lkpa2Adqzakco.html

Thank you for sharing that with me, it's true I have become a little mindless about the cutting of plants. The video is pretty interesting, for best success its definetly better to use razors or scalpels. Ruling out any possible issues is always good especially when it comes to expensive plants. For some plants like Pothos I cannot be bothered to use razors though. Luckily all of the cuttings I took made it and have grown wonderfully, I sold almost all of them. Only 1 cutting is still with me + the top cutting of course 😇

Hi Nancy, welcome. I'm glad you liked the video 😊. You are correct, i use Clay beads for the drainage layer. I guess you could also use perlite, vermiculite or other stones for that.
