The bible, whatever you believe you know about it. I challenge you, and everyone else, to observe my findings and compare. For we are warned to not do as the Gentiles, who Babylonized the true names and titles of YaHUaH & the Yahudim elect Ancients. Beware of: in·ter·po·la·tion/inˌtərpəˈlāSH(ə)n/noun1.The insertion of something of a different nature into something else. Derek, many different types of SUPERSTITIOUS COMMUNITY WIDE MYTHS AND LEGENDS RELIGIOUS FAIRYTALES beliefs and rituals practices were SOCIALLY and CULTURALLY accepted as completely normal ever since man has started EVOLVING. Every region of the world had already slowly transitioned from their own superstitions until they eventually incorporated their beliefs into an official version of the pantheons of different types of pagan superstitious supernatural beliefs narratives. Each region of the ancient world eventually MONOPO-LIES their beliefs into their final OFFICIAL versions of supernatural SUPERSTITIOUS COMMUNITY WIDE RELIGIONS. Someone has to CON-SPIRE THE $ FROM THEIR naively uneducated spiritually focused supernatural SUPERSTITIOUS delusional, illusionary MINDS. By EASILY EMOTIONALLY MAN-IPULATIVE rewards, and punishment programming. Just like our ANCESTORS parents did to them. It's called the multigenerational gifts. That keeps on giving. We Humans have always been scared of dieing. It really is that simple. Why fight wars, when you can simply use their own EMOTIONALLY needy naiveties to VERY EASILY GOVERN them.

What is truly puzzling to me is not the absurd stories cooked up in the minds of the superstitious, anonymous men who invented this nonsense, but rather the apparently intense desire on the part of 21st century humans to violently hold on to these ancient myths and superstitions in spite of all the knowledge painfully acquired by humans over the past two thousand years and the utter lack of any sort of concrete proof in support of the religious myths and fables. It seems that many people NEED FAIRY STORIES to cope with the reality of living in a complex, dangerous world.

Fear of an uncertain and complex world and fear of death are powerful motivators to believe in such things. If you give people an easy to digest narrative to explain it all, they’d much prefer that than to have to face a seemingly indifferent universe that is infinitely complex. Coincidentally this is also why demagogues/conspiracy theories can be so effective and successful. Well, maybe not so coincidentally.

When I was doing OSUT Basic/AIT at Ft. Lostinthewoods, we had a choice on Sunday's between going to church and cleaning the barracks. Being a 17 year old doofus, I went to church. Over the course of several Sundays, I sat by myself in the back of the church and read the bible cover to cover. The following Sunday I sat up front and listened to the sermon. The Sunday after that I was buffing the dayroom floor as a freshly minted atheist. Superstition fails.

I have read the Bible straight through many many times - sometimes multiple times each year. If there were things that were hard to take in the OT I would just say to myself that it was the OT. If the Gospels were different from each other I wouldn't really take time to think about it. Everyone I knew was doing the same thing - or at least that's what I thought. But I began to have doubts which I got over. I made my way into a conservative seminary, and I received a Masters and started work on a doctorate. But I began to have doubts again. I don't know where it started, but I had serious doubts before I read Ehrman's "God's Problem." Then I found Dr. Richard Carrier. Many of the things he talked about were related to things that I had read in seminary. That was the final nail. Many old friends are trying to keep a grasp on their beliefs. What they believe is their right. They have to come to the conclusion on their own.

My Bible study friend really discouraged me ready it and tried get me not to (which I didn't), but it has always stuck with me that they were afraid of what might happen if I heard the word of that book. They didn't even want me listening to the point of understanding enough to formulate an argument, because they didn't trust that I could think for myself. It was mainly that God had willingly created a situation whereby the vast majority of people would suffer terribly forever. God created that suffering. Human free will seemed ridiculous as an argument because God also created humans and could have created them to enjoy eternal bliss, but decided to knowingly create the environment of failure and horrendous consequences. Suffering insomnia thanks to images of hell, a bleeding suffering hanged god, and an "obedient" father on the verge of stabbing his own kid, among other things. Not understanding a word of what that man dressed in funny clothes was saying, so now wanting with all of my being simply to sleep on those hard-wood uncomfortable benches. But no, you can't. I really enjoyed the ritual of going to church , but obviously didn't understand the implications behind it as an 8 yr old. As a 14 yr old, I saw through a lot of the charade and stopped going. That's dogma and Catholicism though; I've separated that from the the truth about what we now know and it's a matter of faith. I really don't see how anyone can actually claim that jesus' story is "based on" a "real person". How many changes and fabrications does someone have to go through before the story turns into just a complete myth. If someone told a story about how someone named Dienekes lifted a car and throw it a city block, is that really about me or is it just a fictional character that happens to share my name? Excellent presentation. On 18 Jun 1977, I was atheist like my father, but on 19 Jun 1977, I became spiritual. Due to injuries received in a serious auto accident, I have a persistent memory of being dead. Scientists discount my memory as a DMT experience. People discount my memory as being a near death experience. There was nothing near to it. For 26 years, I was at peace with the memory of my death. On 16 Sep 2003, I looked at the memory of my death in the reverse. On that night I stumbled into abstract photography. Over the next year I created over 2 terabytes of abstract artwork. From the artwork emerged an equation that explains to me how I was in a spirit state observing the physical world. The equation uses the logic of Lynch, the energy of Einstein, the force of Newton, and the sayings of Socrates to describe a moment of time as infinite. I call the equation the KnoWell. The KnoWell is written on the letters, I A M. The KnoWell bridges the gap between science and religion through philosophy. I taught ChatGPT the KnoWellian Universe Theory, and the bot was quick to equate the KnoWell to the Steady State Theory and Anaximander's Apeiron. On 19 Jun 2007, I draw a KnoWell for Peter Roman, and I have sent numerous emails to various Catholics informing them that Saint Malichay's Peter Roman was born from an immaculate conception. This year, I contacted monsignor Henry Gracz at the Immaculate Conception Shrine in Atlanta GA. The Immaculate Conception is the oldest church in Atlanta, and rests of stones quarried, placed, and donated by my family. I contacted the archbishop of Atlanta, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan. Not one of them have enough Christ in them to even respond. Henry and I have had several face to face conversation. Cardinal Wilton Gregory walked away from me, so I had to talk to him as he fled. I do not expect you to respond, but if you would like to read my emails and see my equation, just let me know what email you would like me to mail you links. You can also search for my letters on the internet archive, way back machine. You can search youtube for "Near Death Experience -Did this man communicate with God the father?" Ai did a great job with my best written recollection of my death. As I told Henry, "A lot of people are going to be surprised, when they wake up dead." A big part of me hopes that when I die it is lights out. I am tired of all this chaos and control colliding. Keep up the great work, David Noel Lynch ~3K

I always find it amusing, the women at the tomb, so shocked that they went away and said nothing. OK, you can write that in a fictional story, like sci-fi or fantasy. But if you are recounting an actual event, it poses the problem: If they said nothing, and they were the only ones there, HOW could this make it into the text??? It's exactly the same with all those 'and God said' lines in the OT. HOW did he say it? Was there a loud booming voice? If so, how come we NEVER get that today? Again it poses the problem of WHO was there taking down the notes that made it into the text. Or was the text all just made up? Makes FAR more sense. How come Christians don't get this? Because they exert EXTREME effort to bypass every rational argument against their self-indulgence in NONSENSE.

@@morbidclash The logical answer is that people rushed to organise a religion that could have the same element of controlling people that it did in Egypt. The people involved were clearly pro Roman Empire so homosexuality gets described as sinful and people are told to pay taxes. The Roman Empire officially crumbles but it’s power base is simply transferred into the unholy church of the Roman Empire. Christianity is bolstered by copying templates and idea’s in Zoroastrianism, they produce a hodge podge book by recycling Homers writings, by copying stories from the Sumerian Enuma Elish and ripping the stories out of the epic of Gilgamesh, all the pagan idea’s of planetary knowledge get deliberately disguised and suddenly 12 star signs are turned into 12 hypothetical apostles, gods Sun is turned into gods son and the god of the moon is disguised as sin. The battle between Judaism and Christianity continues unofficially through freemasonry. Christians want to believe, they want to believe in the Zoroastrian idea of humanity needing a saviour, an idea that is copied into Judaism before being plagiarised into Christianity with someone suggesting the saviour has arrived. The Jews don’t buy into the idea that Jesus is real or that he is the saviour they’re waiting for. However Christian’s so want this to be true that they ignore evidence and facts to the contrary, in fact apologists are willing to compromise integrity by wilfully lying if necessary to defend all the obvious nonsense and contradictions. The old volcano / war god of the OT is an embarrassment of psychopathy - happy to dictate the 10 (11-20 😁) rules, and equally happy to break those commandments. Thou shall not kill……unless you wish to capture some slaves, unless your children don’t obey you, unless you need a wife and unless you wish to wipe out your neighbours in a tribal genocide…then it gets gods approval. The NT deals with this by introducing a completely different god that suddenly transforms into the exact opposite character of being an all loving god that loses its psychopathic human qualities of wrath, vengeance, jealousy and approval for child sacrifice, rape, slavery and murder. It’s all very obvious unless you buy into it, if you buy into it then your mind will juggle and tap dance round awkward facts to stick with what you WANT to believe.

If you believe some book you read and what it says that you have 'sinned' and you need to be 'saved' by some supernatural figure also created as a storybook character in that book to be true, it will be true for you. You will live your life being bound by it, and in the end you'll find you did it all to you.

Second comment : This is not to say that there are no karmic consequences to your actions, both "good" and "bad" depending on your perspective. But you can deal with it. You 'save' yourself. Learn from the Eastern Ways of Life (Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism) if you want to break free of fantasy notions from a fantasy novel of who you are and what your place in the universe is.

Just one small point - if you have an eternal being - who keeps being born into the world eternally, then it stands to reason that there will be earlier stories reflecting that, since that being (or story) is always present, so i don't necessarily think the earlier stories detract from the idea of the dying & rising god/child. The tradition may go back as far as the red lady of Paviland & the three days in the tomb is reflected in the (pre-Christian) burial mounds of Ireland - Newgrange etc

I rember Seth Andrenw Djing our local Contemporary Christian music station in the 80s. He's the Heavy Cream of radio voices. He did turn me on to a really good band called Daniel Amos and their oddball hit " Shotgun Angel", who I still love and listen to, despite me being Agnostic now. A bunch of Orange County artsy bands came up ariund that time.

Ignostic Humanist here. my interpretation of "you cannot be my disciple" is that he isn't saying you should. remember, even the gentiles love their families, while his audience is supposed to love their enemy. the key here is disciple, which means "student", from latin discere (to discover or learn), discipulus (student), disciplina (what is learned) etc. someone who hates everything doesn't really know its opposite, to love. so if love is the gospel, and you already know how, you don't need to be taught (and don't need to be a student or disciple). he's not telling you to hate anything. you can't teach someone something they already know.

“We must not be ashamed of the mythical radiance resting on our theology. We must not be nervous about ‘parallels’ and ‘Pagan Christs’: they ought to be there-it would be a stumbling block if they weren’t. We must not, in false spirituality, withhold our imaginative welcome. If God chooses to be mythopoeic-shall we refuse to be mythopathic?” C.S. Lewis

Right now we're all genies in a bottle, and when the genie is trapped in the bottle,he is powerless, and that is this earth 3d realm. You're all regressed in 3d or human form, and when you finally rememberyou'll finally be free of this limited 3d realm only created by your mind.

Derek, Love your discussions and you have an amazing story. I only would like to say that there are many seminaries that delve deeply into the genesis of the scriptures (both Hebrew and Greek) and realize that there exists all the inherent problems of which your discussions speak of. It's not like many of us have our heads in the sand it's just what we do with that knowledge. For me there is another level to all these discussions which may not be tangible (and of no value in the academic sphere) but may answer why some continue to desire to delve into this mystery/ myth. You contribute to us in that journey and I thank you for it. Amazing guy; some might even say divine!😂 Thanks!

The truth was mythology all along thats why people ruled out mythology all this time and believed the lie that is christianity/offical history so for people to call the mafia christianity "mythology" is ignorant and wrong.

Dan Wallace knows plainly that we can’t know exactly what the originals said and that they’re clearly written later than most Christian’s claim. His snafu with the 1st century Mark copy etc. also proves how eager he is to defend and push his narrative. Anyone who watched his debates with Ehrman can see clearly that he knows the problems but downplays them for his evangelical audience.

The resurrection is in reference to the sun which is resurrected on Christmas Day following the three day solstice (death) in the Southern Hemisphere where it was known there was a cross. Before sunrise the constellation Virgo rises and is there for the birth of the new sun. And three stars in Orion’s Belt called three kings point to the sunrise.

At 40:10 - "Couldn't a human have concocted the 10 commandments?" Yes, absolutely! All except the first four are to improve social harmony : 5 : Don't kill - it's antisocial 6 : Don't commit adultery - it's antisocial - especially if you get found out. 7 : Don't steal - it doesn't make for social harmony 8 : False witness - don't tell lies about other people - you'll get yourself in the same position as Donald Trump. 9 : Don't covet your neighbour's wife. You're setting yourself up for either adultery or a punch on the nose 10 : Don't covet your neighbour's _anything_ - same outcome as 9 When you think about it, they're all blindingly obvious. The first 4 commandments are just to get you to toe the line - keep your nose clean. 1 : Don't mess with God. (Graven image - I don't think that's much of a problem these days) 2 : Don't mess with God. (take his name in vain - blasphemy) 3 : Set aside one day a week to re-convince yourself about God. If you stay coinvinced, you'll stay in line. 4 : Obey your parents - God's deputies, who always like you to believe they would never do anything like the last 6 commandments. The first four are all through the Bible. Every time a prophet speaks, (Moses, Daniel, Samuel, David, etc) he never says "Now listen to what I'm telling you" - he says "Here are the words of the LORD" - in other words, it's not just me telling you this - it's the LORD. It's a way of making his message seem more important - and the first 4 commandments are exactly that. Yes, *_OF COURSE_* a human could have concocted them.

It's more difficult for a camel to go through a Eye of needle than a rich person enter into Heaven. meaning "Rich people can't inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Meaning if you only live for money and give not attention to your spirit, how can you expect to see into the Spirit. as per many parables told e. g Matt 22:12-14.

Concerning Luke 14:26 when Jesus says you must hate your families if you don’t,you can’t be my disciple: Mark 10:29 “Everyone who voluntarily forsakes home, relatives,or property for the sake of him and the gospel will receive 100x more in this life and in the world to come, eternal life” There are many Christians who face shunning, disowning,or persecution from from their families. If believers are to be true to Christ are forced to live in a way perceived as “hateful”towards their families who don’t believe in God,and we must show him preference over all earthly ties
