Chiropractic treatment of hamstring , shoulder, clavicle and neck pain ASMR

Anthony was dealing with some left upper trap and left hamstring issues and sought help from us. He is an athlete in peak condition and I find this session to be interesting in that the muscles are well defined, easy to see, and generally very healthy.
After identifying C6 and occipital dysfunction on the left, I moved on to his hamstring and found an area of congestion in the middle 1/3 of the belly. The treatment was a manual myofascial mobilization and decongestion using hip rotation to create differential movement in the layers of the posterolateral thigh. Some vastus lateralis and IT band issues came to light as well.
The paraspinals were in good shape, so we focused on the left CT junction and shoulder, finding trigger points in the left levator scapula. The position for shoulder work, with the patient prone and me seated next to him with his arm draped over my thigh, is generally how I approach this region.
I like to release the arm lines whenever there is shoulder stuff, so we did some work on the superficial back arm line (see Thomas Myers Anatomy Trains).
After doing some gentle releases for the right shoulder, I found a small trigger point in the right lower trapezius.
I demonstrate clavicle adjustments, the C6 and occiput adjustments.
His right upper cervical extensors needed some work as well.
Overall I felt this was a good session to share, as it encompassed a few different areas which we were able to address in about 20 minutes.

Hi Dr. Russ. I really love your videos! I wanted to also say that I appreciate your community guidelines. Too many chiropractic channels have seen their comments shift their focus away from the treatment and onto the patients’ bodies, which is very disappointing. I love that you keep it classy here.

Dr Russ, what a wonderful video. Your techniques are so relaxing to observe and your calm, experienced, confident and compassionate approach (you dialled straight into that hamstring) must be so reassuring for your patients, many of whom are feeling very vulnerable and sore. The fact that so many allow you to film and share their treatments with us is a testament to the trusting relationship you have built with them all and their awareness of your goal to help others through education. I recently experienced minor discomfort in my back and followed your excellent videos for exercise and strengthening which helped my own healing. We all appreciate how much time, energy and effort you put into your productions, detailing your amazing gift of body healing. You're one of a kind

Dr Russ, what happened to one of your earliest vids with the guy? Its been gone from your channel for a while. Also, ive watched a lot of youtube chiros and your blend of massage/bodywork and specific use of chiro techniques makes you a real stand-out amongst the crowd. Really enjoy what you do and thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your views and for your lovely feedback. The video with Matt was taken down for privacy reasons. I understand that it was popular and many people miss it. But hopefully one of my newer videos will strike the same chord. Thanks again. I really appreciate hearing from you!

I’d love to get this kind of chiropractic adjustment, but I’m really uncomfortable with the neck cracking stuff (risk of stroke in my family). Is it acceptable to ask the chiro to not do that?

Yes, it is acceptable and encouraged to tell the chiropractor what your preferences are. If the chiropractor is not receptive, find a different one. Absolutely.
