It reminds me of Funkadelic music since a lot of sounds and the way the singing and choir singing is performed is like what Funkadelic did. The song "Riot" even samples the guitar solo from their song "Good To Your Earhole". The singing in this song here sounds totally like from their song "Can You Get To That". Even the cover artwork is heavily inspired by their album "Maggot Brain".

i love how the genre of his music is so spread out, there is no specific. such a talented man, always love donald

I ain't feeling this album but props to Gambino for experimenting with something different. Not a lot of artists do that.

A artist mainly known for hip hop showing that you don't have to keep doing the same thing over and over. one day I was at work when my brain suddenly started playing this song. I had it stucked all that day. When I got home I opened Spotify and went nuts searching for it...on the Funkadelic page 😆 spent literally hours listening to their most played tracks and re-listening the albums I knew from them. went to bed frustrated and it wasn't till the next day that my brain magically gave me the answer.

This is genius. People call it garbage because they were expecting some same old rap trash. This is far superior in terms of musicality and originality. (Even though it is heavily inspired by Parliament/Funkadelic).

Ɫεαⅎıυs I agree, though rap is such an over-saturated genre. I'm glad artists like Gambino and Kendrick are looking at different approaches to hip-hop.
