I know this song is about his son but it strikes really personal with me at the moment. My dog passed away a few days ago, and I've been really down since then. Today I thought about this song, that "little hands, little feet..." line brought back the days when he was just a baby in my arms. Listening to "Don't take him away," just fucks me up every time man.

the passion and emotion behind this track. he has so many pent up thoughts and repressed them for so long that this song has haunting yet beautiful vocals at the end because that’s the only way to let it out. i can’t help but feel the pain and fear of losing his son, and this song is so complex and just amazing. Donald Glover is a musical genius, and i hate to see him retire so soon. i love this being personal, and it helps give perspective on a father losing his son.

If you tired of the radio playing the same ole music.. Let's request his music and demand this in rotation.. We can do it 🙌🏾

For me, Donald Glover is only going back to the roots and showcasing his versatility as well as good taste in music. I've noticed one thing about this album. Any song over five minutes is fire as fuck.

It's unfortunate to see hate on these songs only because he isn't rapping. He is so much more than just a rapper. He's an amazing artist and I feel like this album establishes that fact.

I'm probably tripping but this song "baby boy" gives me the feeling that someone was granted access to someone's vault. All this talk about him not sounding like himself and all. Don't get me wrong Donald's a really talented person, that's why he could pull off doing Prince's material.

Even though he did not necessarily "rap" he showed what he can do vocally. Showed us the "Flight of the Navigator" side of him. This touches home for all the real music lovers.

people are really up in arms about him not rapping on this album, but I feel like its a really good change of pace for him. He's really going back to the roots of modern day music. He has a fantastic voice for doing R&B/soul.

yeah, its a real bummer. Its weird cause im seeing a lot of his more Rap oriented fans getting kinda upset. But a lot of them dont realized that R&B/Soul is where that all came from. And Gambino really captures that feel of classic R&B/soul. This is probably one of my favourite Albums at the moment. its just such a good turn for him.

I remember being pregnant with my son, Jasiah, and listening to this while I was lucky enough to feel some of his first movements.Some moments in life are just perfect. ♥️

I really love how his album cover fits with every song. Like the art work is just so amazing the more I look at it the more it feels intune with the song. He thought of everything and made tht shit pop

Yes he sounds just like Sly. The instrumentals do too. They (instrumentals) actually remind me of the Ohio Players for some reason.

Im a huge Gambino fan and I would be lying if I said I didnt hope for rap on this album, however I can definitely learn to appreciate his creativity in other forms besides rap. Still a beyond talented artist to me, regardless of what he does

this song is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and it stands to this day my favorite song ever. its so incredible and its so underrated.

every single song on this album is just perfect and makes my soul vibe so much talent in one man

Forget everything you heard from Gambino before. All the rapping and funny lines. Forget it. Act as if this is a completely different person that you have never heard before, and I can almost guarantee that you will enjoy this album. I think we have this expectation of Because the Internet and Camp, and we try to make those the judging stick. Also, I think most people who enjoy Gambino's music are between like 16-30. So a lot of us aren't used to this kind of Funkadelic / Jimi Hendrix / Prince sound, because it's just not from our time. I had the luxury of parents always playing that music in my house but some don't. So I also suggest going back and listening to some old school funk and soul and rock from the 60s and 70s. I think it'll help appreciate this album even more. Because as a Gambino fan, I can honestly say that I love this more than his rapping. The whole sound and groove of this album is amazing. And Ik it's early but I think this might be my favorite album from him.

Agree with your POV Jumar, Many rappers get scrutinized because all their music begins to sound the same. nothing by Gambino has really sounded the same since he came out. yea he got styles he pulled almost straight from the funk era, but i think its refreshing and unique to have his own interpretation. it makes me think this whole album was inspired by how well his fans received that interlude track on Because the Internet entitled "Urn" which i will listen to on repeat all day.

This album makes me feel like the world isn't a terrible place at the moment! Love this style and the album in general!

I love it when artists and musicians today make *new* music with *throwback* sounds and vibes!

No one is talking about how sweet and beautiful and adorable and painful this song is. Like his relationship with his girl is so tough and i feel it. I feel what he;s expressing so much. And him talking to his kid mid-album is so…perfect. Love it!

man this has to be my favorite track on his album, its so good and have a lot of depth. beautiful, when i have a son, ill be playing this.

Anyone who didn’t see him moving from rapping to singing obviously first wasn’t really paying attention to his music. Secondly, don’t know who Donald is. He’s never been one to box himself in. That’s why he’s constantly leaving things when they hit their peak. He did so with dericks comedy, stand up, 30 rock, and community what you didn’t think he’d do the same with rap?

I come back to these songs every few months, when I'm feeling too existential and depressed. They bring me down to Earth. ❤
